So after the chain hair salons were terrible and rude I yelped this salon and the first time I went it was amazing! Super warm and welcoming staff and so I just went again today and wow! My boyfriend introduced me to this salon around a year and a half ago and I always have a great experience. I go to Lily O. (I am sure all of the other hair stylists are great too!) I have anxiety when it comes to cutting my hair but Lily always gives me what I ask for. I just got my hair cut and it was just like the picture. I was so excited to try this place out given that it's local to me. I've been looking for a place since my last stylist got married and moved away. I booked this appointment in advance specifically requesting demi-permanent color and clearly noted that in my scheduling message. This is a standard service I've had at many salons. When I arrived, I was told demi-permanent wasn't available -- but only after some back and forth. At first, I was told they didn't offer it at all, then later that they did but wouldn't use it on me. I was pressured repeatedly to agree to permanent color, which I didn't want. No one notified me in advance that they wouldn't be able to do the service I requested. I was put in an uncomfortable position of having to defend a very common hair service. Ultimately, I left feeling unheard and dismissed. I'm sharing this so others who have specific preferences will know to call ahead before you arrive. read more

I mean, how easy peasy lemon squeezey was this? Booked my appointment online. Got my confirmation. Went in and was seated at my appointment time. Got a precise and just what I asked for cut. Paid and tipped via apple pay. Got a $5 coupon discount for doing a Google Review. In and out within an hour. The only complaint I have is not knowing about this place sooner. It's cozy, the people are friendly. This isn't some overdone bougie hair place. They get it done and Crystal is excellent at what she does. Haircuts for women start at a base price of $35 and you can add on things such as blowdry w/ styling, treatments, etc. Why do I love this? Because the hour it takes to dry and style my hair I could desperately use for the billions of things I have on my to do list. Definitely will be back for maintenance cuts. I love this place so much! And for reference it's located in the same plaza as Red Lobster (same side as Poki Port). read more

I have naturally wavy/curly hair and in my experience not everyone can properly cut said hair.. I've been going to Smith Hair Salon since the first location and I'll keep coming back! I've had multiple bookings from different stylists and I can confidently say I can trust pretty much anyone here to cut my hair exactly the way I want it and everyone is so friendly! Pricing is also super fair, and the salon is so well maintained and decorated to make you feel cozy :) Even after moving to LA, i still find a reason to come back to my hometown just to get my haircuts here because it's that worth it to me (they know what they're doing here, I'd trust them over any recommended LA stylist any day) All the stylists are great, the pricing is so much better, and the ambience is perfect. read more

First I picked this place because of the great reviews and second because she was very responsive when I was interested in coming in. This was my first time getting my hair professionally colored so I booked a consultation before hand and crystal walked me though everything. Need to have hair colored but can't find any opening on the Father's Day weekend anywhere. The only one that has an open slot is at the Smith Hair Salon in Temecula. The stylist was young and nice. However, I'm not sure if she has much experience. After it's done, the stylist pointed out that she missed some grey hair spots. She tried to convinced me it looks like "highlights". I was like no, I need to come back for her to fix it since it was already too late for the day to fix it. We scheduled a time for me to come back to re-color the areas that she missed. After I got home, I wondered how my index finger was covered with black hair color. Then, I realized that not only both of my inner ears were covered by the black hair color, but also the side of the face closed to the ears.‍‍‍ My experience says all. For the price they charged, I expected better experience. I probably won't be back after they fix what was missed today. Not a professional salon. read more

This was a last minute appointment so the wait wasn't completely unbearable, but my own cut felt rushed or like they weren't giving my hair the full attention it could have gotten. I had asked them to look at my hair and evaluate how much needed to be cut to get rid of the split ends and I was still left with quite a bit of split ends. Because my hair is long, I get some stylists are apprehensive about cutting off a lot, but if it was needed I would have been content with that. My hair also felt a bit choppy afterward which wasn't appealing. Also, nothing major (and I could have just spoken up but I was tired and just ready to go home), but I had asked how much the dry shampoo was and instead of telling me they just charged me for it again, I could have just clarified or said something else, but I was kind of over the session. read more

She did the make up for myself and two other girls, while her partner/friend (I can't remember her name but she was also very nice) did our hair! I had my initial contacts with her through yelp and she was always able to respond and answer my questions very quickly. There were a few times I waffled on some stuff (as the communication with the two other girls I was trying to book for would change) but she was very patient and professional. I was able to book her for a Saturday morning. Leah traveled to our hotel room and was very prompt and arrived on the dot of our agreed time. I have to admit, I was kind of hungover from the festivities that took place the night before, but she was just very pleasant and really nice. Normally I wouldn't like being around people when I have those type of mornings, but she was just super chill. She listened to my makeup preference and did a great job with the airbrush application. She even recommended some makeup products and techniques. It was a very good experience and Leah and her hairdresser were so personable that it was like getting your prep done by a close friend! She would even show us funny videos on her phone. We felt really comfortable with her. The results were worth every penny and I am so glad we got the opportunity to work with her. I absolutely can't believe I forgot to yelp about this but I wish I could give them six stars! We were getting compliments left and right. Thanks Leah for the awesome experience and results! I was hoping for a positive experience at Salon MK with Giselle Q, but I left very disappointed…read more The photos clearly speak for themselves but here's what happened-- When I first reached out to Salon MK in June, I was connected with Giselle and specifically requested a light brown, neutral balayage. We booked a balayage ($280) and a haircut ($85). I sent photos of my hair and several reference photos. During the appointment, she explained that balayage is essentially highlights, which made me a bit nervous, as I understand it to be more of a blended, ombré-style look. Still, I trusted her professional judgment. Unfortunately, the final result looked nothing like my reference photos..... The highlights leaned much more yellow and brown rather than the neutral tones I had requested, and they were also uneven, with some highlight sections noticeably thicker than others. The haircut itself was uneven, and the top layers were longer than the bottom section. She offered to fix it, which I appreciated, but by that point I already felt uneasy. I decided to give her a second chance since she was willing to fix the uneven haircut, so I went back in October for an all-over color before an important work event. I was very clear and specific about what I wanted and provided several reference photos beforehand- a dark, natural brown with subtle purple/reddish undertones. I explicitly asked to avoid black, copper, blonde, vivid red or purple tones, and NO highlights. We discussed this thoroughly, and I even said that if there was any hesitation, I'd prefer to play it safe with a darker brown balayage instead. Giselle reassured me she could achieve the color....... Unfortunately, the result was again nothing close to what I requested. My hair turned out coppery brown/red and still showed highlights, which I had specifically asked to avoid. I felt embarrassed going to my event with it. When I reached out the next day with photos, I was told that the custom conditioner I purchased should temporarily fix the issue. This was frustrating, as a conditioner with very minimal pigmentation shouldn't be relied on to correct a $165 color service, especially after I left a 20+% tip out of kindness. Overall, the results did not align at all with what we discussed or the reference photos I provided. My concerns weren't resolved, and I ultimately had to attempt to fix my hair myself before the event. Everyone's experience is different, but I wanted to share mine so others can make the decision that feels right for them and choose a stylist they feel 1000% confident with.
