So after the chain hair salons were terrible and rude I yelped this salon and the first time I went it was amazing! Super warm and welcoming staff and so I just went again today and wow! The BEST salon ever! I mean, $37 for a haircut and friendly smiles? You can't beat that! I highly recommend this place!! You'll never want to go anywhere else again! read more

Such a cute place and everyone was so kind, especially my stylist Polly. I told her I was nervous about cutting my hair because I'd recently had a bad experience and she was so sweet and careful. I waited to write this review until after fixing my hair so it wouldn't sound overly emotional. Unfortunately, my highlights were done unevenly and the process severely damaged my hair, leaving it too fragile for bleach. I had to cut off two inches, add layers to reduce the look of a chemical cut, and go much darker just to repair it. The staff was kind, but the skill level for blonding services is not there. If you want to maintain blonde or get highlights, I cannot recommend. I did come in for a correction after expressing I was unhappy with the initial results but left just as unhappy as the first time. For context, the first photos show my hair leaving smith salon, the middle photo shows my previous blonde, and the last photos shows how dark we had to go in order to get it fixed. (also I went to another salon to fix it as compromising my hair any further by trusting smith salon to fix the issues they caused would have meant cutting my very long hair very short.) read more

My boyfriend introduced me to this salon around a year and a half ago and I always have a great experience. I go to Lily O. (I am sure all of the other hair stylists are great too!) I have anxiety when it comes to cutting my hair but Lily always gives me what I ask for. I just got my hair cut and it was just like the picture. I was so excited to try this place out given that it's local to me. I've been looking for a place since my last stylist got married and moved away. I booked this appointment in advance specifically requesting demi-permanent color and clearly noted that in my scheduling message. This is a standard service I've had at many salons. When I arrived, I was told demi-permanent wasn't available -- but only after some back and forth. At first, I was told they didn't offer it at all, then later that they did but wouldn't use it on me. I was pressured repeatedly to agree to permanent color, which I didn't want. No one notified me in advance that they wouldn't be able to do the service I requested. I was put in an uncomfortable position of having to defend a very common hair service. Ultimately, I left feeling unheard and dismissed. I'm sharing this so others who have specific preferences will know to call ahead before you arrive. read more

I mean, how easy peasy lemon squeezey was this? Booked my appointment online. Got my confirmation. Went in and was seated at my appointment time. Got a precise and just what I asked for cut. Paid and tipped via apple pay. Got a $5 coupon discount for doing a Google Review. In and out within an hour. The only complaint I have is not knowing about this place sooner. It's cozy, the people are friendly. This isn't some overdone bougie hair place. They get it done and Crystal is excellent at what she does. Haircuts for women start at a base price of $35 and you can add on things such as blowdry w/ styling, treatments, etc. Why do I love this? Because the hour it takes to dry and style my hair I could desperately use for the billions of things I have on my to do list. Definitely will be back for maintenance cuts. I love this place so much! And for reference it's located in the same plaza as Red Lobster (same side as Poki Port). read more

First I picked this place because of the great reviews and second because she was very responsive when I was interested in coming in. This was my first time getting my hair professionally colored so I booked a consultation before hand and crystal walked me though everything. She was even able to fit me in two weeks later to get my hair done before a wedding and my birthday. So happy with how my hair came out and crystals customer service and hair expertise. I came in having no idea what I was getting myself into. I hadn't had a color change in a salon ever, so you can say I was hesitant. My appointment was with Arhiell and she was the absolute greatest! I have naturally wavy/curly hair and in my experience not everyone can properly cut said hair.. I absolutely love my hair cut! usually after the first cut from a new place once i get home and can really look at my hair its never right. there is always some weirdly longer sections or one shorter section that really shouldn't be there but not this time! I've been going to Smith Hair Salon since the first location and I'll keep coming back! I've had multiple bookings from different stylists and I can confidently say I can trust pretty much anyone here to cut my hair exactly the way I want it and everyone is so friendly! Pricing is also super fair, and the salon is so well maintained and decorated to make you feel cozy :) Even after moving to LA, i still find a reason to come back to my hometown just to get my haircuts here because it's that worth it to me (they know what they're doing here, I'd trust them over any recommended LA stylist any day) All the stylists are great, the pricing is so much better, and the ambience is perfect. read more

When I met Brooke, she took the time to actually look at my hair and talk with me about my goals. One of the most important things to me is keeping my hair healthy because I'm trying to grow it long which has taken some time. She was very upfront that getting exactly where I ultimately want to be would be a process, and I REALLY appreciated that instead of trying to do too much in one appointment. She respected the integrity and health of my hair while still getting me incredibly close to my inspiration photos. Brooke was also just genuinely nice and easy to talk to. The entire appointment was comfortable, relax and I was in and out in about three hours, which was another huge plus. She's also only about a 15-minute drive from my house, so finding someone this close who I actually trust with my hair feels like hitting the jackpot! Her pricing was very affordable, but to be completely honest, the quality of her work was beyond! We booked a balayage ($280) and a haircut ($85). I sent photos of my hair and several reference photos. During the appointment, she explained that balayage is essentially highlights, which made me a bit nervous, as I understand it to be more of a blended, ombré-style look. Still, I trusted her professional judgment. Unfortunately, the final result looked nothing like my reference photos..... The highlights leaned much more yellow and brown rather than the neutral tones I had requested, and they were also uneven, with some highlight sections noticeably thicker than others. The haircut itself was uneven, and the top layers were longer than the bottom section. She offered to fix it, which I appreciated, but by that point I already felt uneasy. I decided to give her a second chance since she was willing to fix the uneven haircut, so I went back in October for an all-over color before an important work event. I was very clear and specific about what I wanted and provided several reference photos beforehand- a dark, natural brown with subtle purple/reddish undertones. I explicitly asked to avoid black, copper, blonde, vivid red or purple tones, and NO highlights. We discussed this thoroughly, and I even said that if there was any hesitation, I'd prefer to play it safe with a darker brown balayage instead. Giselle reassured me she could achieve the color....... Unfortunately, the result was again nothing close to what I requested. My hair turned out coppery brown/red and still showed highlights, which I had specifically asked to avoid. I felt embarrassed going to my event with it. When I reached out the next day with photos, I was told that the custom conditioner I purchased should temporarily fix the issue. This was frustrating, as a conditioner with very minimal pigmentation shouldn't be relied on to correct a $165 color service, especially after I left a 20+% tip out of kindness. Overall, the results did not align at all with what we discussed or the reference photos I provided. My concerns weren't resolved, and I ultimately had to attempt to fix my hair myself before the event. Everyone's experience is different, but I wanted to share mine so others can make the decision that feels right for them and choose a stylist they feel 1000% confident with.

As this was my first professional hair coloring, she made sure to walk me through everything and explained to me how the process would work to get my end result.. she is so kind and makes great conversation while doing my hair. she is so prepared lol she played disneyplus movies for most of the process. I went to this salon based on a recommendation and booked with Ashley P. Unfortunately, I left…read moreextremely disappointed with both the result and how the situation was handled. My service was fairly straightforward: an all-over brown color with a red/copper undertone and a trim. I specifically explained that I wanted a copper undertone rather than a purple-toned red. There were no highlights or foils. After the first color application and wash, Ashley apparently noticed an issue before I had even seen my hair and began correcting it. Once she dried a section, I was finally able to see the color myself, and my roots were noticeably bright/glowing red. She mentioned that the salon lighting was making it appear worse and took me outside to look at it. For context, my appointment started on time at 2:30 PM, and it was after 5:30 PM before I was able to see the color for the first time. At that point, I had already been there for three hours for an all-over color and trim and needed to get home to my kids. Ashley offered to continue color correcting it, but because of the time, we agreed she would adjust the roots and I would leave with wet hair. I went back to the bowl for another application, my hair was washed and towel dried, and I paid and left. Once I got home and dried my hair, my roots were still very bright red. The photos attached to this review were taken after I got home. What made the experience especially frustrating was the $400 total: $275 for the all-over color and $125 for the trim. I messaged Ashley afterward to explain that I was unhappy with the result and asked whether any of the additional attempts to correct the color had been included in what I was charged. She explained the pricing and offered for me to return so she could attempt another color correction free of charge. I was also told there would be no full or partial refund. At that point, I declined. After spending $275 specifically on an all-over color, sitting in the salon for more than three hours, and already having multiple attempts made to correct it, I prefer to return to the stylist that I know will get it right and save myself the time and further disappointment. I understand that hair color doesn't always turn out perfectly on the first application. I've had that happen at my usual salon. The difference, for me, is how it's handled afterward. In those instances, the issue was corrected quickly and successfully. I don't expect perfection every time, but at this price point, I do expect the finished result to reasonably resemble what was discussed--or for there to be a meaningful resolution when it doesn't. A few additional observations about the salon itself: it was extremely loud, to the point that having a conversation with my stylist was difficult. While I was there, another stylist had food delivered and appeared visibly irritated with the delivery driver because utensils weren't included, walking away shaking her head. I found that interaction uncomfortable and unprofessional to witness. My back also became soaked while I was at the shampoo bowl, and Ashley mentioned that this happens frequently because of the chairs they have. I do want to give credit where it's due: the salon was kept clean, and I repeatedly saw stylists cleaning not only their own stations but helping clean one another's as well. There seemed to be good teamwork in that regard. Unfortunately, cleanliness doesn't outweigh leaving after more than three hours, paying $400 for an all-over color and trim, and still having to go elsewhere to have the color corrected. I won't be returning and will be going back to my stylist at another salon. Lesson learned.
