His response was umm yeah but there's only one guy that does it and I will go get him when I'm done so if you just chill out I will get to you. I stood there with my mouth open. I was in shock! I waited a minute for him to finish and he said yeah propane is around back let me go get him. I decided to just leave. No way will I ever set foot in Steve's again. It used to be a nice place but the customer service now isn't even sub par!

I ordered a certain color and I got white. I called them and explained that this was not what I ordered and that it was very inconvenient for me considering I live over 30 minutes away. He said "what do you want me to do about it"? Then he go ons to tell me that the guy who mixes the paint will be there in the morning. He did not apologize or try in any way to make remedy the problem that HE made. Very unprofessional. In my line of work when I make a mistake on an order I go out of my way to try to make it right and apologies can go a long way.

I even called corporate customer service while at the store, and the corporate representative was also placed on hold for a significant amount of time trying to reach the store. To make matters worse, a store representative marked my pickup order as completed, yet 20 minutes later I am still waiting in the pickup area for my mulch. No one is available to assist, and the gate is chained, preventing access to the product. This level of service is unacceptable. Customers should not have to track down assistance after an order has been marked complete. I hope management addresses these issues so future customers do not experience the same lack of professionalism and support. Crystal store rep was able to resolve my concerns very professionally.

However, I had occasion to visit the Covington location a couple of times looking for odds and ends for projects and was pleasantly surprised. They have a wide assortment of good quality, hard to find, items not commonly available in the larger big box stores, at great prices. Interestingly, l found that the most impressive thing about this location was its staff. They all seem to have great knowledge of their inventory and an impressive understanding of what you genuinely need. They are also very generous with their advice. I am now a Harbor Freight member and as such save a lot more at their frequent sales and on advertised specials. Now if you visit expecting to find a lot of high end power tools and such you will be disappointed, but for your everyday needs Harbor Freight is highly recommended.
