This business is now closed but it wasn't when I went this past August. I went to this establishment to celebrate a friend and it was a large group of us. We ordered crab cakes and after we had eaten half of it we encountered a piece of hair in the crab cakes and the fish dish ended up being pretty slimy. We agreed that we wouldn't be going back. The drink were delicious though so I don't have nothing but good things to say about the bar service m. read more

I patronized on 10-18-25 while in Miami. Another site showed this restaurant is closed. I'm aware of a change in ownership, but I hope they didn't close. I've followed The Hungry Black man for a long time and was certain that I'd visit Smith & Webster the next time I was in Miami. So glad I included it in my plans. The ac was on Antarctica. I was greeted & seated right away. There was a large group for someone celebrating their 50th birthday, but that didn't take away from my service. I ordered fried catfish, greens, cornbread, and mac & cheese. The catfish came with two sauces. The cornbread came with a jalapeño honey butter that was ooh la la; will have to try to make it myself. My only critique was that the shell noodles in the mac & cheese weren't seasoned. If you cook and love mac & cheese, you know what I'm talking about. Plenty of cheese but that lack of seasoning just made the taste a little flat. Had a great server & other staff came to check on me. The chef also came to ask about my experience and shared my thoughts with the owner. I couldn't eat everything. After a very long day with travel, I took leftovers & was nibbling in my hotel room. Definitely looking forward to expansion in Charlotte. We need it! read more

First off I would like to start by saying the service was amazing the staff was on point and the Manager greeted every customer that came into the restaurant. I love me a great ambiance with great food and great service. We came here and had the lemon drop martinis which came in an assortment of flavors such as raspberry, passion fruit etc. I got the watermelon flavor which was great! We also ordered the corn bread and it was truly amazing it had small pieces of actual corn in it, it was also moist and fresh and delicious not dry at all. Overall I will say the music was amazing and had me and my friend vibing! the restaurant was clean the service was spectacular and the I would highly recommend anyone to come here, it's worth it and you'll thank me later. read more

Came here for a girls night and it was nice! When you pull up to Smith and Webster's new Miami location, it doesn't look like much, but you step into a different world once inside. The music isn't too loud and offers a good selection, and the decor? Is a little playful but relaxing at the same time. Our waiter was Jayda and she was amazing. She answered all of our questions about the menu, gave some great suggestions, and was very attentive. We started with the oxtail egg rolls and sweet chili shrimp. Then got the turkey wings with white rice and Eula Mae's fried chicken. The turkey was so tender but the flavor was a little off. The turkey gravy was perfect with the white rice. The fried chicken was fried and seasoned perfectly. The fried chicken can with 3 sides; collared greens, Mac and cheese, and sweet potato soufflé. In my opinion, the food is okay. Not much to rave about, but you will enjoy yourself. The service, vibes, and drinks are definitely worth the visit! read more

This place is a must come see! Service is top tier. I can't say enough about the food here. I mean I love to eat so let's be serious, I really enjoy a good meal! The lemon drop was perfectly mixed. The ingredients are natural and fresh. My drink was freshly made. The catfish was perfectly seasoned and fried. The biscuit. The blueberries on the bread pudding was such a nice compliment it really balanced the sweetness of the bread pudding. Ambiance is nice and chill. read more

I visited for a birthday brunch. The menu is filled with delicious updated Southern fare. There are about 6 different entrees with grits choices. Waffles, pancakes & chicken & waffles of course!! The cocktail selection was also amazing! Mimosas & Mojitos came in a variety of fruit flavors to choose from. The decor is very tasteful & IG worthy. The bar area is beautiful. Wait till you get to the bathroom area. There's a foyer covered in greenery. My party took lots of pics there. The service was very good. Maybe a little slow but I think our server allowed for time to visit and celebrate. Although it was a trek to come here. I would come again as the food was delicious My shrimp and grits were the creamiest I've ever had & the biscuit was absolutely amazing l!! read more

I came here on New Year's Eve for a dinner party. They set aside a private room for us and that was an intimate touch. Unfortunately, our reservation was for 8pm and they closed as 9. Most of us arrived at 8:15, so we had to put our orders in by 8:40 before the kitchen closed. Despite them being closed, Kenny was a patient server who kept the evening moving. I had the rum punch and loved it. I regret not trying the biscuit. I got the crispy cilantro shrimp, which was good. The shrimp were big too. It had a little kick. The Mac n cheese was great too! I'll definitely return. I'm excited to try their happy hour. read more

I've been thinking about the shrimp appetizer since I left. The restaurant is very cute and intimate. The waitstaff are all so nice and accommodating. Not that we needed much accommodation. My party got the steak, chicken and waffles and I got the shrimp and grits which I ate before i could grab photos. Rookie mistake. But the SHRIMP??? I forget what that appetizer is called but I believe it has cilantro, and a sweet sauce. It's absolute perfection. Everything that we ate was beyond expectation. We left full and uncomfortable lol I hate that I didn't get a chance to eat here again before I left. Reservations were hard to come by so def try to reserve before hand. It got pretty busy. They have an oxtail lasagna there on my hit list for when I return to Miami. read more

While in Miami we had to stop at Smith and Webster. We were greeted with Valet service which was an awesome start. The ambience in this restaurant was top notch. We decided to sit at the bar. These bartenders were definitely mixologist that took time and mastered their craft. I ordered a smoked drink, a shaken drink and a stirred drink. All of my drinks were made to perfection. For food I ordered a couple orders of the crispy shrimp. It was prepared with this semi spicy chili sauce and it was delicious. I also ordered the Macaroni and Cheese that came in a small cask iron skillet. That was another well prepared dish. The restroom was in a nice area by the bar. There was a lounge area outside of the restroom - very chic This restaurant is very popular in Miami and I can see why. I loved Smith and Webster read more

I came here for Sunday brunch on August 20th with some friends. It was 5 of us in total. When I arrived I noticed we had to valet park which I find a bit ridiculous for a public parking lot. The prices were $5 regular or $10 VIP. When we entered we were seated quickly even though we were still waiting for one more person to arrive. But after being seated is when the server informed us we only had a 90min time limit at the table. Luckily our last person arrive quickly and we were able to place our food order. We ordered a carafe mimosa for the table which is wasn't worth the price to me. The restaurant has a dim setting as if they are trying for a romantic vibe. They played nice soft music so you were able to have a conversation without yelling. I ordered the chicken and waffles which were ok. The chicken was way too salty. The rest of my party enjoyed their food. I only gave four stars because our server Brittany was amazing she was attentive and friendly. This isn't a place I would see myself visiting again. read more

Always start with the Brunch positives! The Hawaiian Steak and eggs and the skillet mac and cheese were absolutely fire! . The drinks were also amazing as was the service. The oysters were just ok. Now the ambiance for a Sunday brunch was shockingly like a funeral, a small funeral of maybe 8 people in total were there. Im thinking, I chose the wrong weekend but the vibe was not vibing AT ALL! Moving on, tell me why on earth did I have to pay $10.00 for valet in an empty parking lot and the 18% service fee is still an Unsolved mystery. Yes the 18% service fee is posted and no it is not the tip, and yes I did still tip 20%. I could certainly understand a service fee for a large party that is truly understandable, but every table regardless of party size wow and wow! Would I dine in again, never say never but probably not. Would I do take out service Absolutely! read more

Went into the North Side of Miami to check out this spot named Smith and Webster. The inside of the place was busy and packed with many patrons and the vibes were chill, almost like a lounge with how the lights were. Came here for a nice dinner and we ordered so much food to try. Had some shrimp, sliders, and chicken wings. I would say this is a pretty good drinking spot and a place to grub on. The chicken wings were flavorful and so was the deep-fried shrimp. I arrived around 8:30pm on a Thursday evening in a party of 3. We had reservations for this time. We checked in and was told by the host that he was going to get our table together. While waiting, I went to the restroom. It's hidden tbh lol. There is a door in the to the left. When you open it, you first see a mini lounge area with greenery on the walls leading to the restroom. It's nice actually. There was a group of ladies taking photos. The men's restroom was clean. I liked the colors. There was a candle by the sink but o honestly couldn't even smell it. They might need a stronger scent lol. By the time I got out, the rest of the party was sitting. This was around 8:37pm. The server hadn't came by yet. You must scan a QR code to see the menu. Our waitress, Navara, came at 8:40pm. She introduced herself and yay! That's a rarity lately. I ordered around 8:45pm. I got the buttermilk biscuit and a grilled wings as my meal. Another person got the exact same thing but with fries. I wanted to add fries to my meal but the waitress didn't come back. While waiting, I noticed on the menu place card that dining is limited to 90 minutes and that there is an automatic 18% service charge added to bill. The light in the middle on the table is also adjustable. You just tap the top to go through 3 different brightness levels. This is pretty cool but it's movable and possible cost effective. My biscuit came at 8:54pm. One party's wings and biscuit came at the same time. The biscuit was delicious. Personally, I would've wanted it to be softer than it was. It honesty reminds of the biscuits from Church's Chicken, taste wise. When I opened my napkin with the silverware, I noticed it felt very light and low quality. Another party had a completely different set of silverware that was heavier and better quality. One party's shrimp pasta and a side of fries came at 9:05pm. I received my wings at 9:10pm. My wings were inconsistent in texture and flavor. Some wings were cooked longer than others (some had more crunch and some were soft). Our waitress wasn't attentive at all. I dislike the automatically gratuity because I think it can hinder customers from getting great service. The waitress did come back to check on us until 9:21pm, a whole 36 minutes AFTER I order and 10 minutes after I got the final piece of my meal. I think that's ridiculous. I had planned to order fries but that went out the window after the 10-15 minute mark of her not showing back up. When she did finally show up, she checked in and removed some of the empty plates. When she left, she came came back at 9:28pm with the checks. This was because one friend went to the restroom and ran into her on the way back and told her we were ready to go as she didn't feel well. Honesty, my opinion is that this place is charging and acting as if it's up-scale restaurant, but it's not there yet. The decor, service, and food doesn't justify it, unfortunately. Additionally, consistency (in every aspect) is an area of improvement. Overall, it was a decent experience. I enjoyed the food. I would return. read more

Went to this popular spot for brunch and had a good time! The parking lot is pretty tight but they offer valet. Highly recommended to make a reservation if you do not want to wait. The inside of this restaurant is very modern/hip, the music was on point as well. My drinks were pretty strong but good! As for my entree it was a solid 3/5, something was missing like more flavor or a sauce on top. Our server was nice and oddly midway through our meal she went missing and it was hard to hunt her down for help. I'd try this spot again when I'm down south. read more

Overall I did really like the ambiance of this place and I'd return on that alone. I think the food was a solid 4. Not ground shatteringly great, but okay enough to maybe return and try something new? My collard greens were cold and they quickly returned it to the kitchen where it came out piping hot. Mac & cheese was fine but I'd expect something a bit more plate scraping for a black establishment. My drinks were overly sweet like I had to use a bit of water to dilute it which is a no no because that means I'm diluting my liquor too. Next time I'd probably go for straight up champagne or wine. read more

If not able to make any I would say you have to play it by ear with the wait time . Once seated the options of bar like high tables or dining area is available. Both are beautiful and nice to sit in. Menu:$$-$$$ I decided to try the oxtail lasagna, ordered the app for chicken sandwiches, we tried the oysters and so much more . We went to the Coral Springs location for our monthly Cousin's brunch. We were seated immediately. Our waitress had an attitude and did NOT introduce herself. She kept rushing us to order and was very short with us. My cousins advised our waitress that they had never been to Smith & Webster and she pointed at one of my cousins and said she has and she can tell you about the menu. My cousin said this is my first time here and the waitress said oh then proceeds to tell us about the menu. Each item I attempted to order like the oxtail lasagne (I was told oh that was year one, we no longer have that, we have oxtail pasta in our 2nd year) but the lasagne picture was still on the menu, then pancakes that comes with the Strawberries and whipped cream and the Oyster Rockefeller. They had no whipped cream or oysters. She had an excuse for everything. I ended up ordering the shrimp and grits which had four shrimp in the grits. I had been to your location in Miami three times and never had a bad experience. I will not be driving for over an hour to Smith & Webster EVER again as this was the WORST BRUNCH EXPERIENCE EVER! Came here for my job Black History luncheon. I arrived because four and was able to park in front of the restaurant. Once parking get full, you will have to do valet parking. Walking in the establishment I love the low lights and the colors. The music was also great, played a lot of R&B music(which I love). My party was originally seated in an area that could've been closed off with a curtain but that area made some people feel like they were in a corner away from view. The staff was accommodating and changed us to a better area. The new area was open and allowed everyone to communicate. Their menu is large with plenty of options. Looking at the menu it is pricey, so I ordered off the happy hour menu. I had the crispy shrimp and chicken sliders. I enjoyed the crispy shrimp. The chicken sliders bread should've be warmed and toasted. Their rum punch was also good. read more

Food was amazing I had the wings which was great seasoned rhe mac and cheese was amazing clap hands the cheese was on point. The snapper taco was okay. The shrimp was delicious. The drinks was a little on the sweet side for me. The hibiscus tea was a tad bit too sweet for me as well. But every thing wad great and I will be back. They were out of the dish I had my eye on from their webpage - the ribs and / or the burger. Supposedly they have been out of it a couple of days. While I understand supply chain issues, I could have called to check if they still have that dish (I've done so at other places). Alas, they don't answer the phone. Speaking of the phone, my friend and I were running late - traffic, adulting, whatnot - and again, couldn't connect. When we walked in, we were told as much though they graciously did allow us to seat especially after having to pay the $5 valet for our car to be parked right on the lot practically in front of the door. The bright interior lights give off a more day spot kind of vibe, not a sexy lounge kind of vibe. The 90 minute seating limit is also a buzzkill. So with our preferred dishes out, we settled for alternates - my friend for their short rib and truffle pasta and me for the fried chicken. We also ordered a couple of their buttermilk biscuits. These were the only positive thing about our meal. The meat from her pasta dish tasted very plain, almost boiled with no seasoning. The fried chicken that was my dish - like 4 pieces and a biscuit - was overly greasy and with no other seasoning. Other than the piece I gave my friend I didn't finish my meal or stayed for dessert. Sadly, my experience didn't align with the other reviews I've seen here. I want to think that it was just an off night, but again, i don't feel like I got value. Especially not while seeing another review mentioning the 18% included automatic gratuity. read more

We were greeted by the host upon walking in for brunch. He checked our reservation, and seated us at a high-top table near the entrance. We were told we had a 90-minute seating limit. I know they have to inform guests of this policy but it was a little off putting, like... "welcome to our restaurant, but you cant stay long!" They were playing old school R&B which was a vibe. Mac and cheese was my favorite! Everything else was ok. Get there early for self-parking unless you don't mind valet parking. I arrived just as they opened and the parking lot had spots available to self-park, however by the time we left, which was a little after noon on a Sunday, they had set up valet. All in all, it was a good time. Not sure if I'll be back. It was a little pricey and didn't find too many other things on the menu I'd want to try. read more

10/10 HIGHLY RECOMMEND! The food was DELICIOUS! I made reservations for a party of 2 and was seated after a few minutes due a discrepancy but nonetheless moving forward, once seated the 'vybe' was on point, R & B music was playing in the background (meaning not too loud). Once seated we immediately ordered appetizers, crispy shrimp $15 tossed in a sweet thai chili sauce with a hint of spice and a (1) lump crab cake $28 both were delicious. Main course: Braised oxtail lasagna $45 and the blackened salmon with yellow seafood rice $42, and both had GREAT taste, very well seasoned. I would definitely order this all of this over again. Parking: They have a valet company charging $5 to park your vehicle or you have a choice of self parking, which I did. The parking lot is not even that big so I'm not sure why they were there but its not a big deal for the price that was being charged. read more

Decided to try out Smith and Webster with my mom for a Thursday night dinner. Pulling up to the restaurant, there seems to be limited parking that is Valet only. The outside has a nice vibe-y feel and as you're walking up to the front doors you can hear the R&B music inviting you in. We were warmly greeted by the host, who was able to get a table cleaned off for us even though we didn't have a reservation. It took about 10 minutes. We sat down and honestly it took 30 minutes for someone to come to the table and take our order. I noticed there were only 2 servers for the entire restaurant. The host and food runners were helping out where they could. We started off with cocktails... Blacker the Berry and the Rum Punch, which were delicious! Then we got our food pretty quickly. We ordered the Oxtail Lasagna, Brussel Sprouts, and the Blackened Wild Salmon. All 3 were SO GOOD. The place had a great vibe. Perfect for a date night or a girls night. Short review: The food is delicious. Parking is valet only for $5. Interior is small but nice. Service was great. Gratuity is automatically added (18%). ---- Long review: I've been looking forward to coming since I saw the announcement a few weeks ago. THEN, MY HUSBAND ended up eating here before I could. He brought oxtail lasagna home, and it was delicious two days later. I knew I had to visit, too. Fast forward a month...I was sooo excited to be here. I had to talk to myself internally in order to let the server finish her welcome/greeting. I ordered the shrimp and grits with a biscuit. The grits were smooth and creamy. The roux was well seasoned. The shrimp were big and plump. The biscuit had a little bit of crunch on the outside and was very soft on the inside. The glaze was a nice compliment. This is a renovated space I think--meaning I don't think it was originally designed to be a restaurant, but someone's imagination brought it to life. The interior is small and well appointed--even the hallway leading to the bathroom is cute. If you want to treat yourself, and you are reasonably close, go. read more

The setting here is nice, they play GREAT urban music and the bathroom area is pleasing for photos. The fried chicken was cool, the skin tastes weird though. It came with greens, white rice (very bland) and Mac and cheese (decent to say the least). The rice and salmon were decent. The lasagna was different, but it was also charred at the bottom. Overall the greens seemed like the best thing going here. I also tried the lobster roll with truffle fries.. the fries taste like normal truffle fries and the lobster roll was cool (for my first time trying) I wish it included more lobster because the bread was pretty thick and out-portioned the lobster. My rating true rating is a 2.5 When we got to the restaurant, the parking area was small. So this is definitely a place you need to valet unless you're here super early. Valet was 5.00 cash only. I would recommend reservations; they get pretty booked up. We went inside and sat at our table. This restaurant is small on the inside and the seats are close together. I enjoyed the ambiance and the setting. Thé music is really loud which made it hard to have any kind of decent conversations, but it was good music, so it balanced out. We ordered from the happy hour menu since this was my 1st time and a test run, but we also ended up ordering from the reg menu. We ordered some wings and they came out pretty quickly but service with our waitress was extremely slow. It wasn't a big deal at first because I dnt consider service being a little slow a big deal but it became an issue when others consistently were getting served before us. While checking up again on our drinks I saw that both tables that came after us got their drinks before us. The table to my right looked like they ordered the same drink as me, the rum punch. The tables next to me had different servers. My 1st drink came after they got theirs. Not sure how the wings came out before the drinks did. The drinks took so long to come that in the end we ended up cancelling some of the drinks we ordered. The drink that I received was good. We enjoyed the food. The portions were small but delicious. We enjoyed the wings so much that we ordered another order after happy hour. We got the mac n cheese & fries which were both really good. We also got the shrimp. My friend got the chocolate brownie. Please keep in mind, even the non happy hour options were not big enough to share(they're the same portion size). We cancelled some drinks but was still charged for them on the bill. When it was time to fix the bill, the manager & the waitress seemed to be arguing. Also, she told us there wasn't automatic gratuity on the bill but there was. This experience was all over the place. I will say if you're going to be charging the price that you do for such small portions of food please make sure that your level of service is superb, which is my expectation of any high end restaurant. read more

This is review is strictly for the cocktails and amazing bar staff. Let's starts with Master Mixologist Gorilla Kie who made me a DELICIOUS custom drink based on my aura. The drink was made with freshly juiced cream de coco, freshly pressed mango, watermelon, and lime juice, topped with cucumber, Basel and her signature gold dust because everything she touches is gold! Then my new best friend in my head Paige served me 2 custom drinks as well. I didn't remember that I was a gin girl until Paige reminded me. She made the drinks taste so refreshing that I couldn't even tell I was drinking gin. My favorite of the two was made with gin and cucumber. When I say DELICIOUS is an understatement- believe me. In fact, if you don't, just ask for Paige and tell her you want the "Za Harvey" (named after myself and the head chef). Show her picture if you have to! Because babyyyyyy! I left completely satisfied. Subtle plug - happy hour is from 4-7 Wednesday - Friday. Tell them Zakiyya sent you! Cheers read more

After my 2nd visit, I believe it's time for a review. I'll begin with the ambiance: Walking through the doors you're immediately greeted with a warm smile and a welcoming face (The hostess Vickie). The decor is trendy and intimate. The music choice is top tier and not too loud. I'd say Smith x Webster works for a variety of celebrations ie: date nights, birthdays, girls/guys night etc...you name it. My server (Nav) had thorough knowledge of the specials and the menu, she even took her time to build rapport with me which made the experience feel personalized. I've been here previously for dinner and today I had brunch. Nav was my server both times. She checked in regularly and provided me with updates on my food and drinks. The drink experience!!! The drink experience!!! The bartender (Gorilla Kie) came by, asked me a couple questions and return with a stunning yet delicious custom drink. All I can say is wow, I would have never thought to order this drink but now I think it's my only drink lol. Simply amazing! The menu selection was the hardest part for me because I wanted everything! During my dinner I had the Caesar salad with chicken and the house made dressing. The chicken was flavorful/juicy; the dressing was creamy and delightful. For brunch I had the Catfish with grits, alongside the millionaire bacon, potatoes, and eggs. Once the food hit the table and the aroma hit my nostrils, I started eating immediately. After the the first taste, all thoughts of photos were forgotten. The grits were buttery/creamy - Catfish was moist and crispy - Eggs were fluffy - Bacon was thick and tasty - Potatoes were well seasoned and tender. Yum, yum, and yum. One of my favorite moments here was looking around and seeing the same satisfaction I was experiencing mirrored across the faces of the other patrons. I strongly recommend a visit to Smith x Webster you won't regret it. Spectacular!!!! read more

I want to start off by saying that I must have had the best luck ever because these negative reviews very much surprised me. My boyfriend and I decided to swing by smith and Webster for a Sunday brunch. We didn't have a reservation but we're like my enough to be seated as soon as we arrived. We started off with some mimosas and ordered our meal. I will say this is the only downfall I found. It took FOREVER to get to us but luckily we had our bottle of champagne and great music playing. Our server was also very attentive and checked up on us often. We ordered the Mac and cheese and the lamb with eggs , potatoes and salad. The wait was worth it! Both were well cooked and seasoned. I will need to come back for dinner to check them out but will most definitely be back! read more

Heard nothing but great things about this establishment from close friends so decided to give it a try on a date night with my partner. Once we walked in you could feel the vibes, the hostess was friendly and attended to us immediately. Be prepared to sing along to the music (Old school RnB). Our server came once we sat down and let us know some of her favorites on the menu. Let's get into the food...I started with the Raspberry Lemon drop, ended up getting two lol. I love me a good lemon drop and it surely was delicious and strong! For appetizers we got the Chicken Dumplings which is a take on the soul food version, it was good just needed more salt. For our main meal I got the Turkey wing, it came with corn bread dressing, collard greens and black eye peas. The Turkey wing was fall of the bone, the flavors or literally unmatched but just salty. The collards were cooked perfect and the black eye peas had so much flavor, wish I had more. My partner got the Pan Seared Salmon and he loved it. Valet is the only option for parking, they charge $5 and if you don't have cash they take other forms of payment. Also a 18% service charge is applied to the bill automatically. Will come back again but for brunch. read more

Great ambiance and amazing music playing. The food is on the higher price range. The taste of the food is good but price is not worth it in my opinion. Happy Hour may be the best bang for your buck. The specialty cocktails were good and well balanced. Customer service is good. You have various people coming to check on you frequently which can be too much especially if you're on a date or trying to catch up with friends. They have valet service for vehicles and it was awesome. I would recommend trying for yourself. Let me know what you think. read more
