When I first arrived at smiles restored, I told the dental hygienist that I had heard a radio ad for new patient special for $69, he said no problem. After checking my credit card statement Some time later, I noticed that I had been charged $196.06. I brought it to the attention of the person at the finance desk and she said that I had to have the actual coupon I said, I heard it on the radio, she said you still have to have the coupon What the bloody hell does that mean? I'm not surprised by the bad reviews. I visited this clinic for a second opinion to compare prices with other dental clinics. The clinic smells bad; the whole place seems like it's stuck in a bygone era. The dental equipment looks like it hasn't been updated for decades. From the start, seeing such old equipment and where the repair tools are connected, you could see rusty residue. That was the most alarming red flag. The cubicles smelled horrible, and the patient bed-chair smelled like it had been cleaned with a dirty rag. Hygiene in these places is supposed to be the priority for safety. It doesn't exist, at least not at first glance. The front desk employees don't even look you in the eyes when talking to you out of courtesy; they don't even greet you to welcome you, so don't expect them to smile. I think it's too much to expect. Who could in such an unpleasant place? They took an x-ray and the Dr. looked at the crown that needed to be fixed with a mirror. It didn't take even two minutes, and they charged me $115, which surprised me a lot because at previous clinics, they didn't charge me anything, and of course there's no comparison, the equipment at the other clinics is more modern and the treatment I received was cordial from beginning to end, where I was guaranteed that I would be satisfied with the results. Something that didn't happen with the Dr. at Dentist Smiles Restored who told me that it would be difficult to match the color of the crown to my other teeth. I had already made up my mind to go to another clinic. I decided to complain to the person in charge of the bill, who was respectful. After a while, she told me she would speak to the Dr., who decided not to charge me, but warned me not to come back, is what the young lady at the front desk told me. So I DO NOT recommend this place. It's not worth saving a little money if they can't guarantee you a good job in the end. Probably the Docs. They're only interested in money. I have a lot of autoimmune issues. I fought for years to keep my teeth, but dry mouth finished me off. I became depressed. with losing teeth and having lost over 25 pounds ..so at 110 pounds, I looked like a walking skeleton. it was a solid 18 month struggle. my primary doctor threatened (lovingly) to put me in the hospital if I kept losing weight. I hated my temporary dentures and complained about them at each visit. They were very large teeth that belonged to someone much bigger. I'm a small woman with a small face and mouth. I welcomed wearing a mask because of this massive mouthful of big teeth. I became very self conscious. The dentist are good. They don't have time for a lot of "visiting", but they are personable while running on a tight schedule. I liked all the dentist that worked with me. They did listen to me and took time to answer my questions. I did have issues with the billing. I really had to stay on it ... and still didn't understand tacked on charges. However... I would take my concerns to my dental assistant who would straighten it out. Otherwise, I would have paid much more than my original plan of treatment called for. finally my dentures were finished and installed. my dental assistant/tech is a delightful woman named Bonnie. I liked her so well that I set my appointments to work with her schedule. I completely trusted her. Bonnie worked with the people who created my teeth. I told her I didn't want a picket fence mouth! I wanted some slight imperfections so my teeth looked a little more natural. a full year later, I've regained 15 pounds because I can eat again! my dentures (I can't believe I'm writing this) have a wonderful bite which allows me to enjoy salads, medium rare steak... and if I'm very careful with my bite, cashews! My teeth are beautiful. I can smile again. They have given me back my self-confidence. I don't look exactly like I did before, but the effects of my various autoimmune disorders plus my extreme weight loss had made its mark. Plus at 72, I cannot hope to look like I did years before. The only thing that could help me now is a full facelift!!!! I am so incredibly pleased with Bonnie and the finale results that Smiles, St. George, Utah has given me! read more

Removal of teeth and upper dentures for $4600. Thought this was a great deal. Found out differently. Removal of teeth was good. Mold for denture fit well. Final denture does NOT fit the same as the mold. In fact, I question whether the denture was made from the mold of my mouth. The denture is so long that it hits the back of my mouth making me unable to swallow and gag as a result. The bite is misaligned so poorly that when biting down, my teeth hit the denture vs the teeth in the denture making the denture push off of one side and still doesn't allow me to bite down. I shared all of this with the dentist, who ultimately advised that Smiles will not stand behind their work and if I wanted to have another denture made, I would have to come up with $700 more. It's not right to receive payment when the work is not completed properly. Insult adds to injury when the patient is left with no teeth and less ability to chew food than before any work from Smiles. read more

Worst experience ever! I would never recommend this office for dental implants. Hubby had "all on 4" done about 2 years ago, and has had nothing but trouble with them. They have had to remake them a couple of times. Some of the pegs have broken, so the teeth sit unevenly and shift around, causing trouble chewing. The last resort.... now the Dr wants to make "METAL" ones as the regular ones keep cracking and breaking. They do NOT stand behind their work. To my everlasting regret, I signed up for the $2,995 deal with "Smiles Restored" for 8 veneers on my top teeth. Dr. Staples was my dentist. In taking off my old veneers, he broke off my front teeth so short that they were too short for veneers. Then, to cover up this mistake, he had to put on crowns, which were way too thick and caused me to have a speech impediment for 6 months. This made it necessary for me to go to a speech therapist. Breaking teeth is considered malpractice, even though it was accidental. Everything he did after that, I think was a cover-up for breaking off the teeth. I have asked "Smiles Restored" three times to cover expenses for fixing the teeth with another dentist, but they will only offer me the $2,995 refund for the botched job. They don't care about correcting their work. And, then, if they gave me the $2,995 refund, I'd have to sign something in their office that says I won't "bad mouth" Dr. Staples any more. The "bad mouth" expression is from Jenny the office manager. There was extensive dental malpractice done to me by Dr. Staples: All of the following headings are different phases of dental malpractice: If they sound "light weight" and not that important, believe me they are because they are the essential descriptors, the "smoking guns," of malpractice and negligence. Here goes: 1.) Failure to Diagnose--looks like Dr. Staples didn't realize I had TMJ (temporal mandibular jaw disorder). Just about any other dentist would recognize it, and even dental assistants are required to have this working knowledge; 2. Delayed Diagnosis--didn't refer me to a maxillo-facial surgeon (a physician and a dentist, combined) for surgical intervention to have the TMJ fixed before he permanently cemented the crowns. This created a 6 mm overjet, also called buck teeth. Anything over a 3 mm overjet is considered abnormal and unattractive, but he went ahead anyway. He knew or should have known I would have buck teeth if he proceeded; 3.) Intentional Misconduct-- he permanently affixed crowns to my overjet when dental protocol dictated an interim trial period to see if they fit correctly before permanent cementation. Every other dentist would give the patient a couple of weeks to see how they fit and what needed to be changed. But, Dr. Staples didn't bother to do this. And, as a result, my appearance suffered due to his indifference and failure to do the right thing. because he obviously didn't care about my degrading my appearance with buck teeth. 4.) Lack of Informed Consent--filed my teeth down from veneer length down to crown length without my permission and used undue influence and extreme pressure to overcome my objections to permanently put on crowns. Actually, he filed my teeth down first, and THEN asked permission, after the fact. 5.) Delayed or Wrong Dental Diagnosis or Treatment--failed to discern the TMJ problem and make a referral to have it fixed by a doctor/dentist/oral surgeon early on, when he should have identified the TMJ problem; He had to know his approach would result in my having a 6 MM overjet/buck teeth, theoretically forever; 6.) Complications Arising from Negligently Completing Crowns--thick crowns, overjet, speech problems, appearance problems; buck teeth at age 75, embarrassment, shyness, anxiety, visible disfigurement; emotional distress humiliation, depression; mental anguish, anger and loss of enjoyment in life. PLEASE NOTE: i am forfeiting the $2,995 refund offered by them for the botched veneer job by "Smiles Restored" in order to make the above statement about my bad experience at the hands of Dr. Staples. I am sad every day about what he did. This statement will cost me almost $3,000. OK. It's worth the money to be able to tell what happened. I am a person who will ask questions about the necessity of a procedure(s) or number of x-rays because that is what a patient should do. I originally called and set up an appointment to find out my options to replace the several teeth I am missing, when i got to my appointment and was in the room with the assistant, the doctor walked in and walked strait to the computer with no introduction until the assistance introduced him then he turned to face me and shake my hand, very uncomfortable! I wish I would have looked at Yelp reviews before I came here... I had a cap replaced and a new one done. I had a different dentist every time I came in. They don't always agree with each other... The new cap didn't fit, they put on another temporary while we waited for a new model to come back 3 weeks later. Guess what, it broke as they were trying to put it on. Another temp and 3 weeks. This time it wasn't seated correctly so I ended up with a gum infection and terrible toothache. A new temporary while we wait on another new cap. ... Seriously??!! They always give you a plan of everything that will need to be done in the future. What I realized is they specialize in full mouth implants, like Clear Choice where they want to extract all your teeth and put in a complete set of implants. Their plans include a marketing explanation of how it would be cheaper to just extract and implant every tooth with the benefits of a new, perfect smile for THOUSANDS of dollars! I am really uncomfortable making a bad review so personal but I feel compelled. We've had a couple of very bad experiences with these guys. I won't go into too much detail but, the first was when a tooth was removed and the dentist left a small piece of it just floating around in my gum and then stitched over it. It became infected and extremely painful. They were very apologetic and fixed that one for free so I made the mistake of giving them a second chance. Our latest dental nightmare was when my husbands temp crown just FELL OFF 4 hours after being placed. Lesson learned. (The hard way) Smiles restored is like the "Supercuts" of dentistry. Their work is quick, sloppy, and yes, a little more affordable. I highly recommend finding a private practice with a dentist who you can form a relationship with. I have neglected my teeth when i was younger and have been to dentists here and in LA. So Ive been to a few dds and have NEVER been treated this way before... The DDS that worked on my back tooth was rude and just upset with life.To start out I had a chipped tooth I made an appointment and the counter help was VERY nice but when I sat down in that chair the skinny tall dds was kinda a ....well rude. he stabbed my gums a LOT of time to numb me, the needle was bouncing off my bones and teeth each time he jabbed my mouth. I just was in shock, I have never had a dds do that before, it was like he was mad. when the dds was grinding down my tooth he was complaining that my tongue was in the way. My tongue? its not like I could feel it but I tried to keep it aside for him. NOW. when i returned to have the cap installed I asked the dds if he could please not jab me like he did and bounce off my teeth and bones and that i did not like needles, Thinking that was just a bad day for him, BUT NO... he tole me that there is numb and not being numb, so what do i want to be... I was kinda stuck in a hard spot, I needed that cap installed and i paid in full and i also wanted to kick this guys azz in his office. So I told him to proceed. the dds did the same thing. stabbing me so many times i even closed my mouth a bit in pain. the dds put out a noise in frustration and told me to keep my mouth open till he was done. I told him when the dds was installing my cap that it hurt but he just kept on working. My tooth still hurts, I cant even eat off that side, it hurts a LOT with cold or heat. I would NEVER go back to that place. But If I hated some one with all my heart this IS the place i would send them. I was there with in a year. My mom had major oral surgery done and is supposed to go back in two weeks to have the second half of the process done. In the past three days she has been miserable, her pain not at all controlled and we've had concerns of possible infection. When we called to let the office know, they said wait one more day and if still having problems, they'd see her. So we called the next day because she wasn't doing any better and their response was that she should just go see her primary care physician and they wouldn't see her! WHAT!? I love that all the prices for many common procedures are listed on the web site. I like when things are straight forward. Once you are in the office, they continue being straight forward. Take the cost estimate home, mull it over, schedule the appointment when you are ready. I had a cleaning/exam and a tooth extraction done here. No major complications. If I still lived in the area, I probably would have had an implant done here too. The dentist, Dr. Hanson does not give you too much time, and honestly I might describe him as awkward, or maybe just overworked, but I really don't have any major complaints. It is too bad there is not a minus 5 stars rating. Not only am I compelled to write a negative review on this site for Smiles Restored, but I will be filing a formal complaint with the UT DOPL, and Dental Licensing Dept. of UT to review what I consider unethical practices for monetary gain. I had a loose bridge, made an appt. arrived on time, filled out paperwork. All I wanted was for the bridge to be re-cemented. There was nothing wrong with the bridge. I was quoted a price at the time I made the appointment, $66.00. I was charged $83.00, as they said It included an evaluation on my dental needs. During my time sitting in the exam chair, they printed out a "needs to be done" evaluation. $7,900.00 and odd change they recommended was necessary. Dr. Hanson said he would not work with my bridge, it needed to be replaced. When I would not agree to the above referenced price, a $700.00 discount was offered if I would sign and agree to have the dental procedures done at a one time discount, offer only good for that day. I declined as all I wanted was the bridge firmly cemented in. When they realized I was not going to chuck up the exorbitant amount Dr. Hanson told the Dental Asst. to cement the bridge. I paid the $83.00, left the office, before even reaching home the bridge fell out into my mouth. As soon as I got home I phoned the office and the dental asst. and dentist had left for the day. The receptionist checked the notes on my file and said the cement used was a temporary cement. The dentist wrote on the file according to the receptionist that he would guarantee it for "5-minutes", I would be back to have the work done. They thought this comment was funny. I failed to see the humor in it. I feel like I was scammed, and because I am a senior citizen they thought they could take advantage of me. Please if you visit this office, get a second opinion, there was nothing wrong with my existing bridge as I found out when making an appointment with another dentist and had the bridge inserted with "permanent dental cement". It is so sad to think anyone in the medical profession has the right to take advantage of another person. If you don't have a comfortable feeling about services please do yourself a favor and walk away. I hope with my information when I file a complaint with the State, the licensing, or medical examiners at least put this dental office on notice. I can definitely see why some of the medical profession worries about mal-practice suits, some of them deserve it. Make sure you know what needs to be done, and why? My husband had been searching for a dentist and was told by a friend to go here. He came 30 minutes early to fill out paper work and was told he couldn't start until his set time!! Seriously!! I was very disappointed in the unethical treatment that this company treated me to. After putting a plan together that included a cost for a removable implant, at the final fitting we talked about upgrading to a permanent top denture like what Clearchoice would offer. They were very pushy about the upgrade and I told them that I needed to think about it for a day. I came back the next day and paid and additional $3600 over and above the $4500 originally quoted. They said that since the new fixture was not covered by insurance this would be my final payment. After I received the new fixture, I noticed that there are no molars. They said this is what could be supported. It would have been nice to know that ahead of time. I left a little disappointed. Then I was notified that I owed and additional $600 because the insurance did not pay. Of course they did not pay, you did not put in the earlier fixture and upgraded me and I paid the full amount. They demanded that I pay for the fixture that they did not put in. The office manager Flora said that they were sending it to collections. Going to the dentist is not always something that I look forward in doing. So I decided to go and see dr. Staples even though I live 400 miles away and for me it was well worth the trip. I found the doctors staff and atmosphere very professional. They had all information of what my insurance and what I would need to pay which was helpful to budget and no surprise fees.
