New ownership, cannot remember female dentist/owner's name. Went in for a tooth extraction. post care instructions were not the same as the written ones provided. She makes you feel as though you are in an assembly line. She talks so fast and seems to get offended if a procedure is painful or you ask to have instructions repeated because you just had, what seemed like, major oral surgery. Worst experience in my life. I have called the office for an appt for 2 weeks sometimes over 10 times a day. I have left 3 messages and never have received a return call. I have a filling that came out so really needed to see dr. My husband pre paid for us both to have cleanings etc so they have my money and I can't even get an appointment. May 6, 2025: My very unpleasant experience with this outfit was absolutely terrible and humiliating. The previous Sunset Dental owner recently sold the business to the current owner and I, as an existing patient was never notified! --- I had initially made an appointment for a regular dental cleaning ROUTINE EXAM with the previous dental service, but surprisingly now there are new people when I showed up for my appointment. --- At first everything seemed normal, but when the Hygienist was doing her job of cleaning, suddenly dentist Natiri Swenson came into the work area, even though my dental cleaning task wasn't yet finished. The dentist did not show me my dental ex-rays or the results but immediately proceeded to stop the Hygienist from her work and demand that I should have my teeth cleaned every three months. However, because over 75% of my teeth are crowns and also because three years ago I had deep Dental Cleaning done at a previous clinic, PLUS one year ago (2024) the previous Sunset Dental hygienist performed Scaling (which is considered deep Dental Cleaning), I proceeded to inform dentist Nasiri of said cleanings. --- In addition, I have a nephew who is a Dentist and Oral Surgeon, who also did X-Rays and a full exam of my teeth in 2024. He explained to me then that I didn't need any more "deep" dental cleaning and that I should have routine dental cleaning and exams ONLY every six (6) months. Dentist Natiry then continued to insist that I should have my teeth cleaned EVERY THREE (3) MONTHS! --- Because of her comment and dire insistence, I notified her that I would then seek a second opinion, to which she became rather upset and she made very unprofessional, insulting, and demeaning comments about me to the Hygienist (in my presence), (i.e., about me "not being educated in dental disease," that maybe she needs to change her diet," etc.). Because the hygienist had been working on my teeth but stopped and I was choking on my own blood I had to stand up and rinse my mouth quickly, but the dentist continued with her comments. Her comments were inappropriate, considering that she has no idea of either my educational background, my diet, or physical condition! --- (Of note is that I have spent thousands of dollars taking care of my teeth, and I explained this to her, but to no avail). --- Finally, she just sent me a ludicrous letter dated May 6, 2025, stating that she "does not wish to establish a dentist-patient relationship." (?). --- I strongly want to emphasize that was never in any way abusive, belligerent, or disrespectful to her or her staff, that all I wanted to do was to get a second opinion because of her insistence for me to get my teeth cleaned obviously too often. Because of my experience at this clinic now, it is my opinion that this dentist is in dire need of honing her Personal, Interpersonal AND Professional skills! read more

I went in to have a routine cleaning done. It was my first visit to this office. I was looking for a dental office closer to my home. This office smelled great not that normal dentist office smell of bad experiences of the past. It was a bit of a wait but I understand they had a new assistant so I was patient. Had my xrays done and by the time the doctor evaluated them and had done his exam he was unsure whether I would be able to get a cleaning today since the hygienist was out sick and they were short on time. But he decided to do the cleaning for me. Now that is a dentist that goes the extra mile for his patients. He even found the underlying problem with my gum above my tooth I had been wondering about and had another doctor look at. I can not say how grateful I am to have a dentist that cares and pays so much attention to his patient. I have found the best office in town I will continue to use this office for my cleanings from now on. read more

Dr. Wilhelmsen is skilled, detail-oriented and friendly. I entrusted her with an implant on my very front tooth and am glad I did as she did great work. You can't tell it apart from the other teeth. She takes the time to explain things to me and answer any questions I have. She is really gifted at what she does. Avoid this bucket shop, despite some "deal" they offer you to prepay $100 for two x-rays, exams, and cleanings. During my first exam, when it came time to get my teeth cleaned, they told me my teeth were too dirty and that I would need to reschedule and come back another day and pay an extra $125 for a proper cleaning. In examining my teeth, they said about 75% of my teeth needed fillings, and that was going to cost several thousand dollars. I walked out and never went back, even six months later when they called for my second exam that I prepaid. What a waste of time! I was turned off by the entire dental experience. Finally, two years later I got into another dentist. They cleaned my teeth in 40 minutes and said nothing about them being extra heavy with plaque. Oh, and only one tooth needs a minor filling at a cost of $150! read more

I was nervous for this procedure, but the moment I walked through the door I was instantly put at ease. Each staff member introduced themselves, shook my hand and explained the process for each of their duties. They showed an interest in who I am as a person not just another patient. We talked, laughed and when they started the procedure, everything was explained in detail. I was never kept in the dark. Procedure was quick and painless. After care was explained in detail and Dr's cell was given for after hour emetgencies. Who does that anymore??? I have found my forever dentist , my new dental family. My husband and I chose this office because this is the one our insurance covered. I have no complaints about the quality of the work. My complaints solely concern the lack of ethics that the office employs in unnecessarily dental work and billing practices. 1. Unnecessary Dental Work. Because the examination rooms are not completely private (the dividers between the rooms do not reach the ceiling), patients are able to hear everything Dr. Wilhelmsen says to other patients. I have heard her recommend extensive dental work to every patient. Does no one in St. George have good teeth? Apparently not according to this dentist. 2. Unethical Practices. After our first dental cleaning, Dr. Wilhelmsen told us that we both needed crowns, which we agreed to do. She also said that my husband needed to have all his upper front teeth crowned at a cost of more than $3,000 due to wear. This visit was in December 2016. We let her know that we would not have dental insurance in 2017 due to the increase in premium costs. Plus, our dental insurance had a cap of $1,000 per year. Dr. Wilhelmsen recommended that we sign up for dental insurance in 2017, do part of the work before the end of December and part in January so that the insurance billing would be spread between the two years, and then cancel the insurance. Really? That is completely unethical not to mention dishonest! The doctor also had no concern for the almost $3,000 that would be our out of pocket. Dr. Wilhelmsen told me that she was a perfectionist as is evidenced by her disregard of the costs to her patients. 2. Additional Charges after the Fact. My husband's crown broke off last month. We went back to Dr. Wilhelmsen to have the crown reattached. It turned out that the crown had broken at the gum line and an implant would be needed at a cost of $3,300. She also said that a bridge was a possibility at a cost of $2,000. Since an implant truly was the best long--term solution, we needed to find a better price, which we let the doctor know. My husband paid the $65 for the visit and we left. Last week, we received a bill for "additional" service provided during that visit, including $43 for an oral evaluation. If these services were done while he was in the office, why was he not billed at that time? These charges appear to be sour grapes since we had decided not to have Dr. Wilhelmsen handle the implant. 3. Illegally Naming a Guarantor for Services. The bill for additional services named me as the guarantor for the my husband's balance due. When I called the office to find out why, the receptionist said that any time a married couple came into the office the account was automatically set up as a family account, making me the guarantor for my husband's treatment without my consent or knowledge. 4. Poor Customer Service. I let the receptionist know that I felt the additional charges and naming me as guarantor were unethical. Because of her callous response, I informed her that we would not be paying for additional fees and that I would be happy to submit a review sharing our negative experiences with other potential patients. Her response was: "Go ahead. We'll send you to collections." Sending patient accounts to collections seems to be the norm for this office when patients refuse to put up with their usury. 5. Dishonestly Obtaining Social Security Numbers. When we had completed the initial new patient paperwork, we had not included our social security numbers on the forms. We would be paying in full at the time of service for any work done and billed at the appointment. The receptionist insisted that she needed our social security numbers to confirm our coverage with the dental insurance that we had at that time. A subsequent call to the dental insurance on our part revealed that all the office needed were the ID numbers on our insurance cards. This was the office's dishonest method of obtaining our social security numbers. Save yourself and your family! Run from this office! read more

they over charge for work they never do they make you pay in advance they say you had work done that they have never done and they want me to pay for new dentures because the dentures they made me don't fit right. they have spent a year picking out tooth fragments from my gums from when they shattered all my teeth trying to extract them and then after all my teeth where extracted they said i had to pay for two extraction when all they did was remove more bone fragments from my gums. the office staff has no idea what is going on and they have no idea about insurance i had bought with them or payments i have made. it has been a year long nightmare. always hang onto all paperwork so you can prove things and hey just don't go there in the first place. read more
