I will update this review as my dental procedure moves forward. My teeth are a mess from years of smoking (quite 7 months ago) and poor oral hygiene. I'm having multiple surgical extractions, a simple extraction, a few fillings and partial dentures done here. I wish I could give 10 stars so far. From the genuinely polite front desk girl to the equally polite and kind girl who took my ex rays to the so kind doctor and same with the gum doctor thank you. Next is my consultation with the oral surgeon. I got super lucky to be able to schedule him the next day due to a cancellation. Expect to wait a couple weeks or so normally. This is the #1 most important thing ever in my life and so far I'm so happy I found this place. I really appreciate the sacrifices these doctors made in their lives to this kind of work and do what they do for people everyday. I'm a pretty good judge of people and business and I'm almost certain this review will stay at 5 stars though out all my procedures. Thank you all! I came to get a wisdom tooth removed. I set an appointment. Turns out that was with a regular dentist. I needed to see a specialist. They used my insurance without explaining the cost of anything. So when I show up to my specialist appointment I get smacked with a crazy copay just to see the doctor. Not even to get my tooth taken care of. They could have explained what my insurance was covering instead of just charging me the first time and letting my deal with full cost of the specialist appointment. DO NOT GET YOUR WISDOM TEETH EXTRACTED HERE. If you are on medi-cal DO NOT get your wisdom teeth extracted here. They tried to get me to pay $2400 out of pocket for bone grafting and would not even properly explain why I need two, just sprouting some generic bs of "to protect bone health." Upon doing my own research I realized I do not need them and called them to refuse a bone graft, but proceed with extraction, which they refused to do! My best theory is that extractions do not give them enough money especially for medi-cal patients, so they push for bone grafting. I got my teeth extracted at another place no bone graft and my jaw bone is a healthy as ever. Trying to make money off of poor people especially is sickening including the spread of misinformation. read more

I had an appointment on calendar for 6 months. I received a reminder text from the office. It did not state for me to confirm but did state I should watch a video which I did. I received a phone call and they left a voice message. The voice message stated that I had an appointment and gave the date and time. The person who left the message though and spoke so fast that I couldn't understand the message. I appeared for my appointment on the day and on time after driving 35 min and taking time off work for the appointment only to find out that they had canceled the appointment. They should have sent me a text stating g they canceled it. I didn't get a phone call notifying me either. They could have also sent an email. I do t recommend them. They couldn't fit me in despite the fact that I showed up. The corporate aspect of this rental business is a problem!!! They said they don't have a manager on site. The manager is located in their call center in Folsom. So calls didn't come from the San Ramon office but Folsom. I don't know about anyone else but I get so many telemarketers and scam calls that I don't answer the phone if the call comes from an unknown number. They should be texting and clearly identifying themselves and requesting confirmation by text and not muddying the water by sending a video for people to watch unless they have confirmed if they are expecting g a confirmation. read more

Worst experience from beginning to the short end. Our insurance changed so I went with what Cigna recommended . I made my family's accounts online- and even scheduled appointments . I called the number on their website but this is like a cookie cutter branch- you do not have access to to the clinic directly and you will not be able to speak to staff over the phone directly- at least that's what I was told when I called. I wanted to let Smile Dental San Ramon know about my previous dentist so they could request records in advance - and the operator said" We dont let you speak to the staff directly at San Ramon because they are busy seeing patients and we NEVER request previous records!". I never heard that before- and that should have been the first red flag. The first appt from family was hubbies-sent him in during his work day- He rescheduled 2 meetings to get there- and whereas his appointment was 10: 30 am- he arrived at the front desk standing in front of the desk at exactly 10:33 am - 3 minutes late. The secretary said- first you need to fill these forms- so he filled them. Now its 10: 39, and he goes and hands in the form - no one told us or called us to come in earlier- She then , without looking up told my husband - you are now 10 minute late the dentist wont be able to see you.You can wait until everyone has been seen... What just happened? It is not clear what happened!! All we understood is we never wanted to deal with their staff ever again! .....Nasty customer care and service- who cares how good the dentist is if you have to cross this prior to seeing one! I hate going to the dentist but my first visit here, I was greeted by Jennifer who probably has one of the best customer services I've ever experienced. She took care of all my appointments scheduling up front and kept it real when I asked her questions. After my encounter with Jennifer, I got called in by Karen, she was doctor Chung's assistant and they took care of my fillings and crown in under 4 visits. Let me tell you, probably one of the nicest and capable assistant. And to Dr.Chung, thank you, the care and service you and your crew have provided during my visits is definitely one of the main reasons I can tolerate and willingly go to the dentist. Dr Michael is holding a drill in my mouth and they started telling jokes and giggling!!! How can a dental practice be so disrespectful and careless. " I have done thousands of cases!" " you can see some other office!" And they terminated the patient service on site with me, and asked me to sign a form. And canceled the treatment they were supposed to do on that day. This was my first time coming here and I would have to say I loved the environment, the workers were talking among themselves having a good time. When calling in to make an appointment with them for the first time was very easy and very helpful. They answered all my questions I had. It was very easy to set up an appointment for a new patient like myself, I called in on Friday and was booked an appointment the following Tuesday! They sent me an email to create my account on a portal so that they can gather all my information. I checked in on the computer and signed in and signed all my documents to get checked in. Which I think it is cool because you can sign most documents before your appointment on your account. I never had a dentist that had this feature which I think is sufficient and very convenient! Through there they can see your information you provided and makes life easier. They did x-rays of my teeth and then was seated in the exam room. The dentist's assistant took pictures of my teeth and even took my blood pressure!! In all my years of going to the dentist I never had my blood pressure taken lol. Honestly I thought that was pretty cool, that made me feel like they really do care about your health. The dentist came in a little bit after checked my teeth and asked if had any concerns about my teeth. I said no I just wanted to get a check up since I had been to a dentist in two years. Due to Covid I was not able to go back to my old dentist because he no longer took my insurance. Then a hygienist came in after and looked at my teeth and realized I bleed to easily on certain areas on my gums. So I had to personally make an appointment with her for a deep cleaning. Making the appointment was another thing I thought was awesome about this place. The lady I was video call with showed me where my gums were irritated at and showed me my teeth. But since my insurance didn't cover the deep cleaning I had to pay $50 for the deposit and in total was $169. Which is not a lot and they said I can pay the remaining about on the day of my appointment which is this Friday coming up. Excited to get my teeth nice and clean :)!!! read more

I have been a patient at Smile Time Dental for about a year and I have enjoyed my experience so far. The location of the area is amazing (it's a 10 minute walk from my home) but there is always plenty of parking. The staff is so welcoming and accommodating. They always try to work with appointment preferences and take your personal life into consideration when making future appointments. Sometimes they can get busy and there are some instances when appointments run late but I think it's a testament to their quality of care- they take their time with each patient and don't make you feel like your just another name in the appointment book. I've been coming here for a couple years now , the staff is always so friendly and nice, the receptionist though i cannot for the life of me remember anyone's names, she always remembers mine. i always have good conversations with my dentist and other staff about random stuff. kinda funny when I'm all numbed up and having a conversation with one of the dental techs and I can barely talk. I am always nervous about coming to the dentist, past experience with other dentists with them hurting me during a procedure so you can probably understand my nervousness. the dentist here are really good at giving shots you can almost never feel them, I'm always surprised when i get them cus i never feel them. I had a cleaning not too long ago and my teeth came out feeling amazing and smooth, and the dental hygienist was super nice. Late last year I had to get a crown for my front tooth, due to having a root canal on it and later chipped my tooth on a mint, they were able to make sure my insurance covered it, they handled all the communication, I got covered for it and was able to go in for the crown, they did amazing at letting me know each step, I didn't want to be picky on picking the color of the crown but they insisted because it's my front tooth to make sure it's a color I think looks best, I didn't like the first color they picked for it so I had them recolor it a couple times and I was super happy with the end result, it looks just like my tooth did before, if not better. I also just recently had a bunch of fillings done and am due for another crown on my back tooth tomorrow. excited to not feel pain anymore on my back tooth soon. read more

It was the absolute worst dental office I have ever visited! The male assistant took an X-ray of my entire mouth with harsh movements that hurt my mouth tissues. He also measured my blood pressure and heart rate, but the results were significantly different from those at my family doctor's office, where I went immediately after my dental appointment. The staff at this dental office was cold, and the doctor, named Michal, was impatient. I was trying to understand exactly what he said, so I asked him to repeat his explanation, but he responded, "I've already told you." I also asked the staff to email me the X-ray images taken today, but they requested a $10 fee for sending them via email. I had such a bad experience with this dental office. Unfortunately, this dental office like several others are defrauding their HMO patients by administering extra "fees" that are not in line with the contracts they are in with insurance companies. I called ahead of time like 4 times to try and get information on their fees and services and was never able to get a call back from their insurance team or hygienist so when I showed up I was VERY disheartened to learn that they were fraudulently charging an "office fee" to all patients (a fee that they admitted to changing based on the person's insurance, so if you have a hmo it's one fee, a ppo it's a different fee, etc..) I stood there and called my insurance and CONFIRMED right in front of them (the office receptionist even spoke to my insurance)that this fee wasn't a legal charge and they still insisted. When I asked for something in writing to validate this fee or a policy to validate it, they told me to hold on and had me wait for almost 2 HOURS without providing me anythinggggggg... I had to work so I left and asked them to email it to me to which (no surprise here) never ever happened. People PLEASE make sure you are aware of your insurance coverage and what fees you ARE and ARE NOT supposed to pay because this is now the THIRD office here in San Ramon that has tried this with me. Luckily I've done the research so I refuse to pay and I file grievances instead. My son is in extreme pain, they state they have an office in Folsom that can help him but must lay out of pocket $550 for "bone graph" & "irrigation". I've only been coming to this office 1yr maybe a little less. The Receptionists and assistants are always so nice, understanding, patient and delightful. The Drs I saw weren't very informative, honest or maybe they just don't know. I have 6 cavities that went unnoticed or just ignored completely. Cavities don't happen overnight. Even if I were to subtract 2 or 3 little ones that's still 3-4 that are so bad they almost need a root canal. One again these cavities didn't just "appear". I was blown away, upset and extremely disappointed then super sad. Not cool. I went for a second opinion. I've had teeth that were still bothering me even after seeing you guys and letting you know the concerns I had. The last Dr I saw wasn't even in the room for 15min. Didn't even ask me is that all? Do you have any other questions?Nothing. My cleaning I had with them was the roughest I've ever had. Thankfully I did get that second opinion. Crumbled old cavities that need replaced and new cavities that didn't show up overnight that need replaced. Why, why, why? Is this a side hustle for this office or just for certain Dr's? Cavities to get worse then there's real money in the repair? Things that make you say, "Hmmm". Sorry, I just don't know what to think. I called their main line. Waiting for a supervisor or manager to call me back to let them know my experience. I don't want anyone else to go through this. Teeth don't grow back. The magnitude of trust that's put into these dentists is Huge! Do they even know or know but just don't care or they need a refresher class to bring them back down to earth? I'm not sure. I take care of my teeth hygiene well. I always get compliments from every dentist I visit, even this one. Unfortunately I lost my original insurance due to job change. So seeing a new dentist was nerve racking. I put my trust and healthcare in the hands of this office. Maybe I should of had a consult first. Not sure. They're also super over priced for dental repair braces or Invisalign's. I got a second opinion for what I needed. It was less than 1/2 of what they were asking for. It is a reputable Ortho office I've worked with before. Usually they are more expensive than a dental office even with that specialist already being there or coming in to take care of those specific patients. This is worst experience I have ever received from a dental provider! Last month I was experiencing some pain. They gave me an appointment over 3months away! On my appointment day they did X-rays & rescheduled me for cleaning. I still have pain. This place is really creepy. They dupe their customers into paying for extra that's not necessary. When I questioned about a fee, was told that it was co-pay. Later to find out from my insurance that my exam and cleaning was fully covered. The extra fee was for an oral cancer screening that is optional and wasn't told that when I questioned the fee. When I asked to cancel my appointment due to what seemed like deceptive practice, I was told that there will be a $50 cancellation fee. After the dental exam, I was quoted an outrageous price on the cleaning service of $600 plus. They try to dupe their clients extra whenever possible. So question everything before you go there or agree to any service. I have called to speak to the manager twice, I am told that the manager is busy and will call back. Haven't heard from them. Tamsen is a very good hygienist. I love when she cleans my teeth. She always informative and explains clearly on maintaining oral health. The assistants are nice and friendly. There's one person I think she's the manager. I think her name is Katy. I don't always get positive energy from her. Like when I have a question for Dr, she answers on behalf and tells me Dr already explained several times. But I would like assurance from Dr and thoroughly understand. This place is wildly uncomfortable. The staff in the San Ramon office are great and personable, but the administrative practices and everything happening in Folsom is shady. Their customer portal always has bugs in it. There are so many extra fees for things that you don't need. They do xrays every 6 months, which I've never heard of before. They are scamming the insurance companies for sure. I was trying to find a place to get my entire family under the same dentist office and this just isn't worth it. They don't tell you that your dentist (Dr. Eunice was great) has left the office and then you show up and surprise....someone you didn't even know was your dentist is now looking in your mouth. They scheduled me for my 6 month appointment and didn't schedule me for a cleaning. WTAF?!?! I had to make a separate appt for the cleaning. Something is just really off here. Really off. read more
