**Extremely Disappointing Experience - Complete Disregard for Our Time and Our Request** I rarely leave negative reviews, but after what happened at Smile Big Pediatric Dentistry, I feel parents deserve to know. When I scheduled appointments for my two children, I specifically requested a **female dentist**. This was not a last-minute request,it was discussed during scheduling and documented in our file. Had the office informed me they could not accommodate it, I would have happily scheduled another day or gone elsewhere. Instead, when we arrived, a **male dentist** came in to examine my children. I politely explained that we had requested a female dentist and that this information should already be in our chart. He acknowledged the mistake and left. From that point on, the experience only became worse. The female dentist was notified, yet we were left waiting for **nearly four hours** while patient after patient was called back ahead of us. During that time, I approached the staff **twice** and explained that this entire situation resulted from the office failing to honor the request they had already accepted when the appointment was booked. Rather than taking responsibility or making any effort to correct their mistake, we were simply told to keep waiting. After four hours, my children were exhausted, hungry, restless, and understandably upset. No child should be expected to sit in a waiting room for that long because of an office's scheduling error. We ultimately had no choice but to leave without either child being seen. Mistakes happen, and I understand that. What I cannot understand is the complete lack of accountability, communication, empathy, or respect for our time. The issue was never the initial mistake,it was the way it was handled afterward. A pediatric dental office should understand that children have limits. Making two young children wait for hours because the office failed to honor a documented request is simply unacceptable. I sincerely hope Smile Big Pediatric Dentistry reviews its scheduling procedures and treats future families with more professionalism and respect. No parent should have to waste half a day and leave with two disappointed children because an office refused to correct its own mistake. read more

The actual dentist was nice and competent. Provided adequate care for a cleaning for my toddler. The front desk staff are okay. We showed up 10 minutes prior to our appointment time and had previously completed all the forms they sent us. We waited 50 minutes past our appointment time to be seen. I asked the front desk staff when we would be seen and she immediately brought us back to a room where we sat and waited for another 20 minutes before a hygienist came into the room. She was short with us and asked if my son would tolerate x-rays. I mentioned he likely would but might be more squirmy as we've been waiting for over an hour. She rolled her eyes and left the room. She said the dentist would be right in. It was another 20 minutes before the dentist came in. read more

They cancelled my son's appointment with short notice back in September, this was his last month with his insurance and the only other available date they had for us was in October. I told them his insurance would end in September and we needed him to be seen in September, they told me they'd get back to me and never did. When I called mid September they told me there was nothing they could do because they only sedate a limited amount of times per month. Now we have to pay close to 5k for a treatment. No sympathy, no type of apology didn't acknowledge my concerns or offer any alternative.... read more

They promote like if it's this wonderful place and it's really not. Most games for kids don't work, they don't communicate with one another. One treatment coordinator tells me one thing and then the office manager calls me to tell me another and they can't honor the fee that we originally signed for. When life is extremely hard and you have a corporate office that only cares about the money it's sad. They can clearly wave the fee they make enough and get this one thing done for a patient but they don't care. If you don't make them money they treat you differently. They made us wait in our car for over and hour while it was raining because they had just lost power. Tell me why nobody called us before to not head over instead of making us drive them wait for nothing. They could have used their cellphones plus I know they are scheduled to be there 30 min before a patient even arrives. read more

When I booked an appt for my son last April, they told us they accepted our insurance. He went for his routine cleaning and we left the office with no balance. Before his next appt in Oct. 2023, they called and said they no longer take our insurance and we chose to find a new dentist. Now it's January 2024 and they just sent us an invoice for $163 for my son's April 2023 appt. They unknowingly placed us with a dentist in their office who was not in network and did not tell us and our insurance only covered part of the bill. It's sad that they deceive their patients and are not doing anything to fix a problem they created. A lady at the office claims their corporate office says the bill is on us and when I asked for corporate's number, they claim they can't give it out. This place is a joke. read more

I was a loyal patient! Until one day I received a phone call saying that the doctor, ( male ) was dismissing me from his practice with no reason why? The other doctor ( female) the doctor that my children primarily see is out on maternity leave, which left us with HIM, the most unprofessional Doctor I have ever met. My one year-old went in for her routine cleaning, and he purposely hurt her because she would not open her mouth. He pinched the side of her mouth with the tool he was using. which then had my daughter screaming with her mouth wide open. I believe this was his technique to get her mouth to open to get his exam done because he does not have the patience for kids. If I were you, I would take your kids somewhere else. This should not be a pediatric office. The manager there is extremely rude. All the front office staff is gone. Their turnover rate is high steer away from this pediatric dental office. The entire staff is amazing. From the front desk staff to the dentist himself, Dr Hu. My autistic son had a major surgery and required multiple checkups. My son unexpectedly had to have a tooth pulled, and we were able to get an appointment the same day I called. Everyone from the receptionist to the dentist were very friendly and helpful. After what could've been a traumatizing experience for a nervous 6-year-old, he told me he felt like he "just got a massage!" Afterward, we were referred next door to the orthodontist so we were able to drop in to make our next appointment on our way out. Turns out my son will be treated by the same orthodontist who gave me & all my family & friends braces when we were kids read more

To Whom It May Concern, On 1-11-2021 at 8am my daughter was scheduled at Smile Big Pediatric Dentistry after x-rays and examination that we had on 12-23-20 at approximately 10 am., to have six teeth extracted due to one cavity, five due to being "erupted," and one cavity filled per recommendation by Dr. Dan Boboia. Upon discharge of the extractions I took my daughter and her belongings to the car and realized they had not placed her baby teeth in the bag she was given, so I contacted the office immediately to request her teeth before leaving the parking lot. The receptionist placed me on a brief hold and I was transferred to the main assistant who assisted in the extractions (Dr. Dan refused to release her name when I requested by phone on 1-12-21) and informed me that she was "unable to give them to me because they were decayed," when I argued this stating some of the teeth that were removed were not due to cavities she then stated "they were in biohazard and that they were irretrievable," I continued to express my disappointment and concern about the disposal of my daughters teeth, I then requested to speak with the Dr., I was placed on a long hold being told he was in surgery, I stated I would drop my daughter off at home and then come to wait back up at the office until the issue could be resolved. Upon arrival at the office the front doors had been locked. After a minute or so they let me in, I again strongly expressed my concern at this point I was extremely upset by the disregard of concern as to how they could throw away a child's teeth and asked to speak with the doctor. My husband and I were then placed in a private room where we were told the doctor would be with us soon. Dr. Dan came to the door with a package of teeth he sat down angered demanding that "we had to hear him out before we could leave" I asked if those were her teeth and he said "yes" as I went to retrieve them from the desk he quickly retrieved them before me and said "we had to hear what he had to say first," I stated I would just like the teeth so we could go, but he refused and then stated to me that "me asking for my daughters teeth was like requesting my PLACENTA after birth." He continued on with the lecture as to "how unsanitary it was for me to have possession of the teeth and that by law he did not have to give them to me." I was in shock and disbelief by the absurd things I was hearing. I was shaking my head, he told me I "shouldn't do so because it was disrespectful to him." My husband and I were also both told by Dr. Dan that "the masks we were wearing wouldn't protect us at all from Covid 19 as it was everywhere in their office." Not sure what that had to do with the retrieval of our daughters teeth. This was an extremely stressful situation for our family and traumatizing to our daughter from the fear of her teeth being thrown away and not having them for the tooth fairy. After coming home and resting I asked my daughter to see where the teeth had been extracted and noticed only five teeth had been removed. I was never informed of this by the doctor or nurses upon discharge. I called Smile Big and was told it must have fallen out or dissipated, I informed them that that wasn't the case and that no teeth had fallen out, but they insisted that it had to be. We have requested our records and are scheduling an appointment with another practice to determine why six teeth were scheduled for extraction, but only five teeth were removed. I feel better communication, training and bedside manner could have helped avoid such a horrible situation. read more

The staff at Smile Big Pediatric Dentistry will blow you away... they are amazing. I have a 4 year old little girl and a 9 year old little girl that both love this dentist. Everyone is so courteous and kind. Not only do the girls leave with brighter smiles, they are also offered to watch their favorite TV show while getting their teeth cleaned, along with a goody bag of teeth cleaning products, and a handful of toys! They even have a game room in the waiting room so the kiddos can play (free) games while they wait to be called back. This is an excellent establishment that I would suggest to anyone with kids needing dental services! read more
