I have been here at least 5 times for lunch and the service has always been good. I am a burger snob that has been to the birthplace of the burger, Louis' Lunch in New Haven CT, and the Apple Pan in Westwood, and everything in between. Smash Burger is simply the best burger I have had in my life. The fresh beef is in the shape of a ball and is "smashed" onto the grill to create a magical feathery, crumbly, caramelized edge that is one the best things you will ever taste! (I know Five Guys does it like this but theirs does not taste like this, not even in the ballpark.) The bun is great too, not a run of the mill burger bun. Looks like a sourdough roll but soft and with a milder taste. The first time you come here I recommend you get a simple burger or cheeseburger so you can really taste the beef. This place has great burgers. However 2 months ago I came in and the manager was talking on the phone (AirPods) while he took my order. Then my burger was a 2 out of 10, it tasted old and was falling apart. So back then I sent in a review about that and I haven't had any burger since 2 months ago. I recently started dining at Smashburger again, and I am happy to say that my recent visits have been nothing short of exceptional. I order the Double Smash combo meal plain. At $14, it is more expensive than run-of-the-mill restaurants, but the food quality more than justifies it. The burger patties are always juicy and have the classic 'smashed' texture. The brioche buns' flavor complements the burger nicely and are uniquely fluffy, meaning you aren't left with a mouth full of bread when eating (which is a frequent complaint I have about other restaurants) and aren't overly full once you've finished your meal. But it is really the staff that distinguish Smashburger from other restaurants. They are attentive, apologetic if they feel your order took an unreasonably long time (which I never have!), and overall strive to provide a good customer experience; it is not unheard of for staff members from the kitchen to go above and beyond by distributing the food if the staff up front are too busy. My son and I just happened to be in the area and decided to drop in after a sporting event. The gentleman behind the register was very friendly and patient while we decided what to order. The Smash fries were delicious and definitely worth ordering. The Swiss and mushroom burger wasn't very large or fancy but the bun was fresh and used quality hamburger you could taste. I hate to admit it, but I love burgers and Smash Burger is not my favorite. This is my first time to Smash Burger and I live close so I was hoping it would be great! I was starved so I ordered the "Big Burger". So when the server brings the burgers out, (My wife joined me) and we couldn't tell which was bigger I knew we had problems. The server really couldn't tell either and on top of that when we all agreed which one was bigger it was on my wife's bun (gluten free, yuck). So we were left to swapping buns at the table as the server wasn't quick to offer a solution. The ambiance inside is decent and the outside patio seating is great, but the burgers are just above OK bordering pretty good but they need to just put a second patty on it if their going to call it "Big". I want to taste the meat and cheese above all else! I had the Smash Fries as well. (Italian Olive Oil, Rosemary and Garlic) My wife liked them more than I did.
