This place should be renamed Chicagos #1 Chili dog and also good burgers ... I know it's too long of a name but let me tell you, the Chili dog from Smashburger blows away any I've ever eaten! The chili is just right, the angus hot dog is of the highest quality and the buttery bun is amazing. Normally if you order a chili dog on door dash you'll get a soggy mess by the time it arrives but the toasted Texas toast style bun travels well and is way better than a traditional bun. The smash burgers and chicken are also excellent. Fries are great and ranch is second only to wingstop which is saying something. Never had a messed up order in person or delivery. Smashburger is making burger moves your way. The ingredients are fresh, the burger can be built your way and the flavor profile is tasty. It has Burger King beat by a landslide. I tried the double bacon burger and it was huge so big I could only eat half of it so I took the rest home for dinner. The down side to this burger is it was slightly salty otherwise they would have received four stars. The fries were good and very similar to McDonalds fries but not at all even close to Five Guys delicious fresh cut fries. I went on a Saturday late afternoon it was busy but they had service down to a science - efficient and effortless! Management was attentive to our every need. You order your food, take a booth or table and they bring the food to you. They are following CDC guidelines and the inside is modern and vibrant. If we were at the Olympics Smashburger would get the bronze medal for third place. First place Gold goes to Buona Beef because their juicy, burger is well seasoned and second place silver goes to Five Guys. I've been here now 4 times in about two weeks! So I used to frequent Culver's until I had a burger from Portillo's. Now since I've had Smashburger,it's just them and Portillo's. There is no comparison between the menus as Portillo's offers way more,but this place has a really good quality meat fresh off the grill burger. I always get the double cheeseburger,fry and soda. Less than 15$. You can accumulate points and use for future orders. The staff is very friendly. Their location is clean! I use their app to place my order which is secure and fast. At one point I was able to place an order and I used their promotion of 5$ off which was a great deal. If I eat a burger (besides making my own) it has to be a good one and they definitely did not disappoint!!!!!!! I have coupons now that they've sent that I'll definitely be using for my next "grab a bite" meal. Also,the location is nice,quite and safe. Really did not want to give a bad review but Smashburger left me with no choice. I had previously tasted my hubby's burger and it tasted so delicious that I wanted one the next couple of days. I placed my order online. Pickup time stated 7:32pmCT. I walked in at that exact time. The male individual fulfilling and taking orders did not acknowledge anyone in line for at least 10 minutes. Finally, he asked me the name on my order. 5 minutes later I was asked the same question. By this time there were three people behind me waiting to place orders and about three people in front of me waiting for their orders and one of them mentioned she had been waiting 30 minutes. At this point the guy taking orders is now taking a bathroom a break, which is totally fine, however no one assisted during this break. A few of us customers observed the cooks and preparers in the back dancing, talking, laughing and enjoying the NBA playoff game. There was no sense of service from anyone. After waiting 30 minutes, I left and so did the now 4 people behind me. I submitted feedback on the website and requested a refund which happened the next day, however there was no apology or anything. Just "here's your refund". Smashburger sits in that space above Burger King, but below Portillo's. I'd throw Culver's in that category as well. Steak 'n Shake was once in there too, but their quality has declined dramatically as they've struggled to stay afloat. I'm giving Smashburger 3.5 stars relative to their direct competition. Rounded up for the service. The smashburger cooking method might be my favorite. There's something about the juicy burger with crisp edges. You all know how I feel about Red Hot Ranch, lol.
