02.13.2026 - SMASHBURGER - ELK GROVE, CA - Trying a restaurant for the first time always carries a bit of anticipation, and from the moment I stepped in, I felt at ease. I mentioned to the counter attendant that it was my first visit, and she responded with patience and genuine helpfulness, guiding me through the menu without rush. That kind of service leaves a lasting impression. She pointed out that their most popular burgers feature double patties--a generous option that clearly satisfies a hearty appetite. While tempting, I wasn't in the mood for something quite that substantial. Instead, I chose to build my own burger, opting for a single patty with pickles, onions, and lettuce. Simple, classic, and timeless. There's something nostalgic about a straightforward burger done well. No unnecessary extras--just quality ingredients coming together the way you remember from your favorite comfort meals growing up. I paired it with their SmashFries, seasoned with rosemary (and possibly a hint of garlic). The aroma alone was inviting. Crisp on the outside, tender on the inside, the fries complemented the burger beautifully. Both items were genuinely delicious. The single patty turned out to be the perfect portion--satisfying and filling without feeling excessive. I left comfortably full, reminded that sometimes the simplest choices are the most rewarding. It was a thoughtful first experience, and one that I look forward to repeating. When I return, I know exactly what I'll order--and that familiarity already feels comforting.

We've dined at this Smashburger location several times. We now order online for a to go order. Our food has always been yummy. The employees are always friendly. The inside has always been clean. It's in a shared parking lot. Ample parking. You can join their rewards program to earn points. It's online or the APP! You can redeem points for free burgers!! We've enjoyed their Double Bacon, Double Smoked Brisket Bacon, and Crispy Chicken Sandwich. We also love their Crispy Chicken Bacon Ranch salad. We also enjoy their sweet potato waffle fries and the tots. Overall, we've had a nice experience.

Food came out quick and fresh burger but the waffle fries were not fresh the tater tots on the other hand were very crunchy and fresh. The oreo shake didn't even last long enough for a picture 10/10 but the smash burgers didn't really feel like smash burgers if that's what you're looking for but a decent good burger joint. Service was good answered all our questions. it was nice a clean and roomy inside.

Ambiance 4/5 Clean Service 5/5 Welcoming and friendly Food 3/5 The smash fries and peanut butter cookie milkshake were delicious but this is smashBURGER so let me get into it. My cheeseburger was meh. I ordered a protein style, which means no bread, wrapped in lettuce. They gave me a cheeseburger sandwiched between a bun with lettuce wrapped around the bun! I can't make this up. I wish I would've taken a picture for all to see. I ordered the American burger. The taste wasn't bad but I still prefer In & Out burgers over SmashBURGER.

I stopped by Smashburger on Laguna Blvd tonight and ordered a deluxe cheeseburger and Brussel sprouts to go. I didn't have to wait long for my order, which was great, because the staff didn't have idle time to clean all the tables and the beverage area. My burger was okay, but no flavor to it, so I cbrought it home and added a thousand island sauce to it. The brussel sprouts was very greasy, which is normal, but no flavor or dipping sauce, so I made a chipotle sauce for dipping after soaking up some of the oil on a napkin. The condiments they gave me (in the bag) were several little packages of ketchup. That would've been good with the fries i didn't order. The good thing is, there's a special going on right now where the deluxe hot dog, deluxe hamburger and American burger are only $4.99 right now.

I ordered the All-American Smash and it was scrumptious. The burger consisted of onions, pickles, and cheese with a single patty on soft and fluffy buns. I also ordered sweet potato waffle fries with chili on the side. The fries were sweet, soft, and crispy. The chili was the consistency of canned chili so I wouldn't order it again. The burger and fries were made fresh so they were hot when they were brought out. Service was good.

I tried Smashburger in Loehman's plaza and was delighted with the food and service. Unfortunately that was not my experience with the one in Laguna. I waited over 20 mins while I watched 'to go' orders being made and taken with no mention or concern from the staff while I patiently waited for my single cheese burger to arrive. Very disappointing to have had this experience. Wishing I hadn't tipped now:( Better customer service please!

Omg so stuffed. Took the pups out to dinner (training them on how to behave at restaurants). We ordered a hotdog, double smash burger, chili jalapeños fries & a salted caramel shake. Everything was delicious. Lots of food! Service was a bit slow today. They forgot to put chili on our fries but brought it separate which was fine. Ate on the patio. Happy because the ground was clean & not sticky.

I love Smashburger's black bean (veggie) burger and rosemary Smashtots. It's the only chain that I know of where you can get a unique, gourmet veggie burger that actually tastes good! And, the rosemary tots... are kinda fancy, too, for a chain. I like their regular burgers, too - they're flavorful plus you can get a (fancy) truffle mushroom burger! Service is efficient and friendly. And their dining area is spacious and clean. Parking is a bit wonky in that shopping center but it doesn't take anything away from Smashburger.

Stopped in on a Saturday evening. I haven't been here in a over a year. Their menu has changed a bit. I use to get the Jalapeño chicken smash but they've really limited their chicken selection. I went with the chicken smash. It was ok but I love their smash sauce. There's only one staff who did everything. He took everyone's orders. He delivered everyone's food. He packaged everyone's food. He did it all. I felt so bad for him. While I waited for my order, I noticed there were a lot of to go orders. I think a lot of DoorDash and Uber Eats pick ups. I waited over 20 minutes for my food. They're a bit short staffed here so be sure to bring your patience. I made sure to clean up after I was done as I saw a few tables left their trash. This isn't a full service restaurant so I can only imagine the one staff on duty who did it all having to also bus tables.

OREO COOKIES & CREAM SHAKE

I've been here couple times. The times I've been here, services and food have been good and consistent. Scorchin' hot chicken sandwich: it was a good sandwich. I definitely wasn't full with just the sandwich itself though. Chicken tenders were juicy and crispy. It had just a bit of a kick. I liked the toasted buns. Peanut butter cookie shake: never had a peanut butter cookie shake before so it was really interesting. Definitely creamy. It was good. Oreo shake: a classic. Can't go wrong with it! Service was prompt. Place was clean.

I have read plenty of positive reviews praising their burgers and fries, though surprisingly few…read morerate them a full five stars. It seems like a tough crowd--but after my visit, I can see why expectations run high. My cheeseburger featured high-quality, freshly ground beef that was well-seasoned with a flavorful, salty crust. The patty was tender and juicy, exactly what you want from a handcrafted burger. The brioche bun was nicely toasted, and the cheese melted perfectly over the patties--both essential details that elevate a great cheeseburger. The burger was simply but thoughtfully assembled with shredded lettuce, sliced onion, pickles, and Butcher's aioli. Their house-made sauce added a nice depth of flavor without overpowering the beef. I appreciated how they kept the toppings classic and balanced--fresh, crisp lettuce, ripe tomatoes, red onion, and tangy pickles complement the richness of the patty and sauce beautifully. The fries were just as impressive. They had that ideal contrast: an ultra-crispy, golden-brown exterior with a light, fluffy interior. Perfectly seasoned, pleasantly salty, not greasy, and sturdy enough to hold their shape--they checked all the boxes. Overall, they hit all the key elements of a truly great handcrafted cheeseburger and fries. High marks from me.

Located inside the Sky River Casino, it is one of several restaurants at the food court. Lots of dining tables and pretty clean. There's plenty of parking though sometimes an open spot can be a short walk to the casino. Ordered the Butcher's Burger which is a double burger with thick cut bacon ($14). Also ordered fries ($4). The burger was juicy and good as well as the fries! The patties are thick!! Service is good. Placing and receiving order is quick and efficient. Live close to this casino so will be back soon.

The wall murals inside the restaurant are top tier and gave me a good chuckle. Service was also exceptional - our server was patient while we took our time to order and was very friendly. My brother ordered the jalapeno smash while I got the kid smash as I was not very hungry. The patty is the star here. Perfectly smashed with crispy laced edges that are very well seasoned. The buns are very soft and buttery. I had a bite of the jalapeno smash and wow I would get this next time - the sauce and grilled onions with jalapeno are perfect compliments to the burger. The fries are also super crispy and well seasoned. Very close to my ideal fry (just a bit more seasoning and it'd be perfect!) It was my brother's 2nd time here and the menu has changed since then. He also mentioned the food had a serious upgrade as it was not as good the last time he visited. If it's been a while since you visited Hot Bunz, give it another try!

Order at the counter and grab some pickled jalapenos/banana peppers while you wait. I ordered: Classic smash combo - decent burger, a lil messy. Fries were great and fulfilled my craving. Oreo milkshake - probably the BEST Oreo milkshake ever. They did not skimp on the Oreos and had good thick consistency. Mac attack loaded fries - brought this home for the SO and he enjoyed it. Service was fine. The lady who took my order was nice and was the one who made my shake so huge props to her lol. Will definitely be back!

The onion ring tower was huge and the onion rings were crunchy and delicious. The drinks were on point. One of the better margaritas I've had in a while and the milkshake and dirty sodas were excellent. The bone in wings were hot and sauced perfectly, while the kids cheeseburger was large and they had the toppings on the side (lettuce, pickles, tomatoes) which my wife appreciated since our son is always picky about having pickles in his burger. The restaurant was clean and well lit. The music was a mix of pop and r&b and turned to a good volume. Overall, we enjoyed ourselves here. We waited more than 10 minutes after being seated before anyone acknowledged us or took our drink order. What made it more frustrating was watching tables seated after us get greeted and served drinks much sooner. On a positive note, the food came out fairly quickly and was good. We ordered a Gourmet Burger and a Kids Cheeseburger, and both were prepared well with no complaints about the food itself. The bigger issue was what happened after the food arrived. Once our meals were dropped off, we never saw our server again. No drink refills were offered, despite the empty glasses, and nobody checked on us or offered additional bottomless fries. The food was solid, but the lack of service and attention throughout the meal made the overall experience disappointing. Hopefully this was just an off day.

It did take a little longer than I expected for our order to come out. I would say about 15-20 minutes at least. The restaurant was clean. We brought it home immediately, and I found each of food items to be just barely warm. For the burger, the different toppings were nice to have, but nothing super unique. The bun was probably the most disappointing part was the bun. The bun wasn't really soft, and definitely not warmed up. It would have been nice if the bread was toasted at the very least. The bun itself was also a little dry. The skinny fries had potential to be better. They were mostly soggy and unfortunately not salted enough. The onion rings were not crispy despite the batter appearing to be that way in many pictures. I can't really see myself coming back here.

Yeah, that's right, not advertised, but if you're dining in and you finish the order of fries, just ask for a refill and they give it to you! So, pro tip: always order the small fries, that is unless you are doing take out. The yare some of the best fries around. About the way they list their burgers. The "regular" burger is actually a DOUBLE burger with two patties. They shame the manly men and most anybody else, by listing the normal single patty burger as a "LITTLE" burger when all it is, is what most people would call a normal burger. Oh, nobody wants a "LITTLE" burger! You get all the same free toppings free, like grill onions and mushrooms on both versions. But since we're on the expense account, everybody gets the "REGULAR" double cheeseburger with "the works". The inside is clean and ordering is easy. We just get 2 orders of small fries for the 5 of us, since I figure we'll get some refills anyways. They do give a ton of fries even at the small size. There's a cup they fill then over fill the bag. I will say they do have some very good fries here, better than In N Out that's for sure. Our orders come up and the burgers are all wrapped well and the fries are soaking grease on the brown paper bag. I'll say, this burger is very tasty, not sure it's worth almost $12 bucks with tax and fries are extra like $5 bucks. But that's what expense accounts are for!
