The next day, they called me and said that the problem is with Software, which they can fix for $150. I decided to wait with the repair, as I was soon about to go to visit my son and wanted to show my laptop to my son first. It turned out that it was just the lighting of the screen went to zero and the son showed me 2 buttons that regulate the illumination of the screen, one with a plus, the other with a minus. After such an experience, I will never turn to this company again and will not advise others. Now I understand why among Russian -speaking in America there is a distrust of Russian businesses. So it's been quite a while since I've needed to pay a visit to the Smart Addiction shop and now…read morethey are in a different location than those first times that I needed their help. Recently I miscalculated my stride on some steps and came crashing down with my mobile in my hand and while I wasn't injured, my phones corner glass was smashed. I was mad for the most part since the phone is only five months old and didn't have insurance on it. Before you chide me about that, I should mention that I've never so much as scratched a phone screen in the 25 or so years of using these devices. End of streak. So anyway after being scolded by Verizon, I headed to the Smart Addiction store which is also known as "iFixit New York, Bay Ridge" location to assess the damage and the cost to repair. Sadly, the screen for this particular model was not in stock and would need to be ordered. I have a Google Pixel 9 Pro XL since I rather like a large phone based on all the web and social media stuff I do. The other downside would be the cost of $300 to replace and repair this broken screen. They said the Google phones are costly repairs so the part was ordered and I waited a few days. Once it was in the shop they took my device for a few hours and all was good as new. The staff is friendly but as technicians they are more interested in getting the job done efficiently for the customer. I told them the exact happening that got the breakage for them to be aware in case such actions lead to other issues. It's always best to be honest with the technicians. If you spill something on a laptop, let them know, if you drop your phone out a window, let them know etc. All in all I am glad that they are here and I hope that its a while before I have to come in there again since I don't like breaking things. Another good option at this location in Bay Ridge is that they have one of those Go Lockers so you can direct Amazon, FedEx and more to so you don't miss a delivery while you are at work. I also like getting the mirror screen protector installed. I always get my phone back within a few hours. One time, I had an issue with a piece of equipment inside my car, and they were able to fix that too! They also fix laptops, TV, game consoles, basically any types of electronics! I then brought the laptop to MSI-Net for a second opinion and the techs there were able to fix it to perfection. MSI-Net diagnosed and had the repair completed within a week - outstanding service. Over that period I checked in 3-4 times. Multiple times was told they needed to order additional parts. I understand supply chain issues but the repair was not a complicated one. I always had to initiate the communication to find out where things stood. Each time I was given a new completion date and each time it was missed. There was not a genuine apology or explanation. Just the generic blase attitude that is common in mediocre customer service. The final repair did not return my laptop to its prior state and still had one minor component that was a little loose. I was simply told to be careful when using it. Maybe that would have happened elsewhere too but I will look for another repair shop next time.
