I purchased an expensive tint for my vehicle several months ago with the expectation that it would be properly installed. Unfortunately, my local tint shop discovered the product was too thick for my windows and couldn't proceed. Since then, I've been in constant communication with the company, who repeatedly claimed they had alternate installers in my area. These so-called connections either never responded or disappeared after promising to coordinate directly with my shop. When an expert installer in INDY could not get the tint to lay right on the front doors of a 2019 Denali he was told he did not know what he was doing and subsequent reach outs have resulted in no response. Was hoping for a credit of some sort for product I would return. I get the no return policy but this product should not be sold for automotive. I get to eat $900 with no response from management. BEWARE I should have read the reviews before this investment... There is a reason they are so bad. Potentially the worst customer service I've ever had the displeasure if experiencing. Both their technical person and sales rep spent countless effort trying to blame me for the product not working instead of simply trying to help solve the issue. The tech guy was extremely rude and demeaning, and straight up lied about calling the battery company I was using to power the films (confirmed by reaching out myself and discovering an opposite answer than what he told me to try and blame me for incorrect installation). Once I was finally able to prove to them that the power supplies they sent weren't sufficient, they made me buy news ones for $400 and only get a refund once the originals were sent back. Unsurprisingly, they then declined to give a refund and only offered store credit which is completely useless once you've bought the product already. I've honestly never experienced anything like it, and it's important to know if you ever have any issue at all - you're on your own. The product itself also has a huge amount of glitches and does not perform as good as advertised. And they won't cover anything, even when using their "certified installers" that can't seem to get them right either. 0/10 on this horrible company unfortunately. read more

The padding on the goggles was ripped, they did not come with the remote control I discussed, instead of a industrial 6 battery pack, it was a cheap 2 battery on a flimsy connection that worked at first and then stopped when the glasses were put in vertical position within 1 minute of using them. I am not sure what all the negative reviews are about as I have had a great experience with these guys although I almost did not purchase from them because of all the bad reviews. They took their time walking me through the entire installation process step by step before the film was even cut. You do have to know what you are doing both in proper Low Voltage electrical wiring as well as following their procedures exactly. Once I ordered the film it arrived less than a week later and was packaged extremely professionally. The film was cut to the exact measurements that I requested. My only negative comment is that the LV wires could have been a bit longer but that was a minor nuisance. You have to make sure that no dirt or debris of any kind is on the glass or film before starting and the TAKE YOUR TIME installing the film on the glass slowly working out any air pockets. For installing the film we used 3 people and worked the film per recommendations. I wired this to their exact specifications and the film came out perfectly, you cannot even tell its on the window at all. The provided trim bar hid all of the wires and nothing at all is visible except the glass. I am going to try and post a couple of pics with this review of my project. I am really pleased with how this came out and will follow this review up at year 1 and year 2 to update on how it is holding up. read more

Every single negative review of this product is accurate, they spend more time having you sign documents that you have no ability to get a refund even if the product is defective. There are two people who own the company, and pretend they are engineering, customer support, etc. two guys buying cheap Chinese crap and reselling as their own product. My installation was similar to everybody else, air bubbles "Our product has no air bubbles was their mantra" defects, bubbling, hazing, partial transparency, low quality workmanship (there is a small corner of the window where the film has already separated) Any of their accessories are 10x more expensive and the same things you can find on eBay with some research. We wanted the big window above the tub in the master bathroom to have a cool window tint so that when we soaked we could turn it on and the glass be clear to watch the snow and frosty when we didn't want to see out. Our contractor purchased this tint from Smart tint and put it on the window. The frosty looked great! But when you turned it on to be clear, it wasn't. It was still about 50% when you looked at it straight on and if you were in the tub it looked completely frosted at an angle. Our contractor called the company and they said this was "industry standard". He complained that their website was totally misleading since all the photos and videos showed a clear window when it was on. There was even a bathroom photo implying that it should work as we wanted it too. They would not stand behind their product. Told him to peel it off and sell it to someone else. I purchased a replacement smart tint panel in March 2023. My previous one failed within the warranty time frame, but was told that I installed it incorrectly. I received it and had it professionally installed by someone who does vinyl wraps on vehicles, which is much more difficult. This product worked for 2 days and then stopped working. They initially tried to say I installed in incorrectly again, with no proof, that I damaged the bus bars. I didnt even complete installation on the trim before this product failed. We went back and forth with emails and it is clear this company will not honor their warranty. As many other reviews suggest, they blame installation on the customer, even though there is no proof even when pictures are shared. I wanted a replacement under warranty. They refuse to honor any kind of warranty and only offer a replacement at cost which is still almost $400! This company has zero proof that I damaged it although they make these ridiculous claims, when I have pictures of absolutely no damage, in fact, its still on the door and I can take to date pictures of no damage. Do your research on this company and you will find more reviews like this. There are other companies that offer similar product but provide actual customer service. Took 3 weeks to ship a kit that was already in stock. They only shipped when I called to ask what was going on. They replied with "uh yeah um it will go out today and you will get it early next week" the next week came and went and still didnt have my order I paid $586.86 for. Asked about expedited shipping and was told that Smart Tint could not help. But if I paid an additional $207 they would expedite the shipping. Once received, the product was scratched, cut, and most obviously rushed. There is silicon spread around the rubber trim that dried even before the plastic frame was attached. You can clearly see the smear of silicon never touched any other material to adhere to. I didnt think to check Yelp, or anywhere else for that matter, on Smart Tint. I wish I had. The president of Smart Tint called me at 6 am to yell at me for taking steps to resolve the issue, steps including charging back credit card, informing that I would leave reviews of my experience everywhere and more. If Smart Tint doesnt want an upset customer because of a poor experience, then they should responsibly handle situations that come up. As of now, the situation is unresolved and its been more than a month since I parted with money and received the junk pictured. I would gladly have kept the product and used it if it hadnt been in this poor condition. I would really recommend finding someone/anyone else to purchase similar products from. Received the product fine, contracted their recommended installer. Their experienced installer said there were flaws in the film and it needed to be replaced. They repackaged it themselves. We overnight-ed back to Smart Tint facility, ($900 later), they called us and accused us of damaging the film. We did not even open the packaging and the packaging was not damaged in shipping. Their installer told them the same thing, but they didn't believe their own installer. We spoke to the president of the company, John, and he promised to "make it right", on 1 damaged piece. We then were informed that we had to pay for the return shipping ($150), and $450 packaging and handling for 4 pieces of film (that we had already paid for). DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THESE PEOPLE!! I was scared to do business with Smart Tint because a) 2 bad reviews on line and no good ones b) no address listed on their website c) no direct contact phone number - the only published number goes to an answering service. However, they have a unique product (nobody else makes dimmable) so I risked $2000, and I couldn't be happier. I emailed them and they responded within 2 hours asking for clarifications of my order. Then they called to further clarify and process the order. Then the engineering manager called to further clarify and make sure what he was about to cut for me was exactly what I wanted. There were two more conversations. Two days later, the order arrived exactly as described. The whole process from email to delivery took 4 days. The panels worked perfectly. Installing them was a very frustrating process. Imagine trying to put large scotch tape panels on your window. There's no movement, no room for error; one shot and you're done. And there's bubbles. Lots and lots of bubbles. You don't see them from a distance but they're there. And they're the only reason Smart Tint didn't get a 5 star review. Color me happy. read more

ZERO stars. I paid Will Sharp of SmartTint $7764.05 for a substandard product that failed to perform as advertised and had to be removed. At the time of purchase, I asked if they had a local installer in or near New Orleans and was told no. I asked if this would be a problem or create any issues with warranty etc. and was told no and was assured by Mr. Sharp that installation was simple if the contractor followed the instructions provided. Likewise, the company website stresses the ease of installation by anyone and makes no mention that installation must be done only by a SmartTint installer. Given this, I moved forward. My architect and my general contractor (GC) both communicated with Will Sharp multiple times to ensure all information conveyed regarding the film and its installation was clear and understood. We received the product and it remained in its original packaging until we were ready to install. Upon unpackaging the product, issues with the product were immediately clear. Busbars on three pieces of film were already off. The installer nevertheless installed the film, reasoning there must be an easy way to re-attach the busbars if they so easily detached from the product. The film was applied to the windows exactly as specified in instructions on the website, provided with the product, in instructional videos online, and from subsequent calls placed to Mr. Sharp by my GC. Mr. Sharp claims the installation was done incorrectly but has absolutely no evidence of this - he was not here during the installation, he has never been to my home, he has not seen the film on the glass, etc. The installer cleaned the glass exactly as specified and applied the film as specified. Bubbles were immediately present in the glass, and despite efforts to remove them, most would not "off-gas" / evaporate as their website indicates. Moreover, and importantly, the very weight of the film itself caused the majority of the remaining busbars to detach from each piece of film - the single solder point meant to hold each wire to the film was insufficient for the weight of the wire. Thus, once the film was installed on the glass, the busbars started falling off, until only a few remained. The film does not work without the busbars, and there is no way to re-attach them. Hence, despite installing correctly, most panels had bubbles, and no busbars. Within days, the film likewise started to de-laminate and peel, and we could not silicone the edges to prevent further peeling, because it would permanently trap the bubbles inside. When the GC tried to call Mr. Sharp, Mr. Sharp spoke in circles, not answering the GC's questions or concerns, then refused to continue the conversation and hung up on him. When I tried to resolve the issue, Mr. Sharp told me the installation was botched (again, with zero evidence this was the case), but he offered me a discount to repurchase the entire order and offered to give me the name of a local installer. When I asked why he hadn't offered a local installer before he didn't answer. When I wrote back asking if we could move forward with the discount, but saying I first wanted to speak with the local installer, he refused to provide the information until after I sent him the money for the new order. The product does not perform as advertised on the merchant's website. The sales person has refused to help and makes false and unsubstantiated claims that the fault lies with the installation, despite not witnessing the installation nor seeing the product in place. They absolve themselves from responsibility claiming we did not use their installer but they failed to provide one in the first place, told us specifically we could use anyone, and never once specified that not using one would cause us to lose any recourse should there be subsequent issues with the product, and when problems did arise, refused to provide the name or any information for a local installer unless we first paid again for an entirely new set of film. When I contacted the credit card company, Mr. Sharp sent me threatening texts. The company's business practices are clearly suspect. And, as multiple other reviews here and elsewhere show, I am not the first to have this experience or outcome. SmartTint CLEARLY knows there is an issue with their product, or they would not immediately offer to replace the product at a discount, nor would they be so duplicitous about sharing information about the local installer. I'm out $7764.05, plus the cost of installation, and the cost of having the faulty panels and wiring removed. This is quite simply, one the worst companies I've ever done business with. read more

We've purchased five panels from Smart Tint. The first two panels worked well for two years. Then one of them suddenly stopped working. We then bought a discounted (30% off) replacement panel from Smart Tint. Unfortunately the replacement panel is defective. When you look through the panel everything is distorted and shimmery, like a mirage. Smart Tint can easily fix this problem by sending us a replacement panel and taking back the defective panel. We're currently in talks with Rob Rollins, of Operations at Smart Tint. I will update when a final solution is reached. UPDATE: Smart Tint gave us two options: 1. We can pay to ship the panel back to them. They'd check the panel for defects but won't guarantee a replacement panel. If the panel is damaged in shipping, they will not replace it. 2. We could buy another panel from them with another 30% discount. Until their return policy changes, we will not buy from Smart Tint again. read more

We bought the smart tint product because it is innovative and provides privacy and transparency with the flip of a switch. The representative we  corresponded with throughout this 9 month ordeal has been Will Sharp. The initial salesman was Sam Adams. We spent $1000 for two of the products to be trimmed to fit our windows. As you may have already guessed, the problems began as soon as they had our money. Once the smart tint was delivered, we never received information for a local installer as promised. We called about 7 times, because they have an answering service, before getting Mr Sharp on the phone. He admitted to not having a local installer and encouraged me to look for an electrician myself. I reiterated that 3 had come by the house and could not install the product. He did become rude and irritated at that point and said that was my issue. I asked for a partial refund at the very least but was denied. We eventually found a talented electrician, after several months, to install both products for $900. One of the products works well and the other did not work from the onset. We corresponded with Mr Sharp via email from then on as the answering service took about 20 messages from us with no phone call back. Mr Sharp had me send the defective smart tint back for an evaluation. He then deemed that the busbar was dislodged and that we have to pay another $150 for the repairs. Mr Sharp stated through another email that this is not covered under the warranty even though this defect was present before the electrician installed it. Our electrician is very honest and so I am inclined to believe him over Mr Sharp. At this moment, we are at an impasse and I hope to resolve the issue amicably. Smart Tint is one of the worst companies I have ever worked with. Not only is their product sub par, but the customer service with Will Sharp is the worst I have ever received from a company. I own a successful remodeling company and could never stay in business treating my customers the way they have treated me. I spent over 2500 on material for the initial order, and then when it started to fail they wouldn't warranty anything so I had to order another panel at over 1000 that I now have to throw. It arrived damaged, and they just advised me that they don't cover damage regardless of whether it arrived that way. They told me to put caulking on it to hide it. Unbelievable. I tried to use it anyway and it failed just as the other panels as I will describe below. When I first contacted Smart Tint I should have realized that things were shady when my call was answered by an outsourced call center where they take your number and then pass on a message. You cannot get a hold of anyone in the actual company directly. Upon requesting a quote they seemed somewhat helpful, although they were very slow. I was ordering 2 panels that would be butt together in a shower area to cover a large window. They assured me that the panels were fine for a wet area, and they said they were laser cut so the edges would butt together completely so there wouldn't be a gap. The first problem was when we noticed a nice gap between the two panels. They touched at the top and bottom with a nice gap in the center. Not laser cut (unless their laser is a poor quality as they are), and there wasn't anything they were going to do to fix that. Then about a week after installation the real problems started. Right at the seam white spots from the top to the bottom of the seam on both panels. I called them right away and they said to just silicone it and they would stop. Now I had a seam, with silicone, and white spots where the LCD material was deteriorating. It looked bad. But one of the spots continued to grow to about the size of a half dollar. I called them and told them the problem. They said it might be mold and to clean behind it. When I tried to peel back the materials the sheets just separated, so obviously they do terrible with moisture and completely deteriorate. They wouldn't warranty the panel saying it was damaged even though they said it was made for wet areas, so I had to order a new one. That panel arrived with damage already on the edge. Not sure how it got there but it was there when we opened it up and installed it. Again, not covered under warranty. We installed the panel upside down to hide the damaged edge since they wouldn't warranty it, and after 2 days the white spots started showing up again even with the silicone. All they had to do was tell me this wasn't made for wet areas and I would have found a different solution. Now I am many thousands of dollars in the hole between materials and labor and all they have are excuses. Stay away and find a better company as I am now going to do. read more

Purchased Smart Tint for two windows surrounding a front door. Had them professionally installed based on instructions provided on the website. One sheet stopped working after 4 months. The warranty department was very unhelpful. They blamed the failure on the installation, stating that silicone should have been installed. The panels were installed with protective trim work, as described on the installation page of there website. Silicone was only recommend for other applications, which were not applicable. The replacement panel was only offered at 30% off. The shipping costs exceeded the discount. The project was two expensive to not purchase the replacement panel. A Xpert Window Tinting What an Awesome product and very professional customer service! We are an tint installation company and a customer requested this product. From the beginning of inquiry on the product (cost, installation, lead time etc.) Will was so informative and patient with me (I had a lot of questions.. constantly :0) I have to admit, I did hear other installers issues on the product and I did read some of the reviews, I was a bit skeptical at first, but again, Will was awesome and it seemed pretty straight forward and lots of common sense also realizing with anything that you do new, THERE IS A LEARNING CURVE! Not a big one either.... this is not regular tint, it's not vinyl.. it's in it's own category and in my opinion.. I think it's easier than either of those. With that being said. I LOVE the product, I LOVE the opportunity for a new stream of revenue. The product and company is so easy to work. It only took that first install and we got the hang of it. You have to realize that when your dealing with anything electrical, you have to take extra care and you can't expect to put it up.. damage it, then want to claim a warranty. We did exactly as instructed to, except for one and so yes.. I damaged 1.. I did have to replace it. They were very fast on the turn around time!! They were available for me during the install when I was unsure.. I called multiple times, sent pics that they reviewed, got back with me.. I had tech support through the whole process. One of my customers ordered their smart tint to put on 2 front doors of the home. 1st problem was is the wires that were attached to the sample were different than the wires that actually came on the material. Didn't seem to be a big deal but because we were fishing them through holes in the door they allowed us to solder small wires onto the panels. After install there was some imperfections on the panels a score mark But for the most part the installation when smooth hooked up to wires the panels worked for approximately 2 days and then one of the panels stopped working. We confirmed that there was power at the bus bars but the panels would still not work. Both myself and the owner of the home try to call smart tint but were not returned and the homeowners said his calls were hung up, promising that they would call him back and they didn't. I've been in business over 40 years in the have never had a company give such horible customer service ever. read more

Terrible customer service. I wouldn't do business with them. Very cool product if it worked well, but it didn't. It was supposed to have a 5-year warranty, but they charged me another $850 a year later for the replacement. They have a warning on their web site about making sure you don't strain the wires. Then when mine broke, they claimed that the wires were strained. These wires were in the ceiling and worked for a year. Somehow after a year, all of the sudden the wires were strained. read more

Dear SmartTint , I have had nothing but problems. From my first placed call- it took a week to get someone on the phone. Once I ordered it was supposed to take 4 days to manufacture and a day or 2 to ship since I live in NY. It took 3 weeks for me to go "wtf? why isn't it here?" . I had to argue with them and bring up the terrible reviews when my phone rang . I picked up. It was John Adams. He could help me. Ok so maybe we are on a new track here and it will all be easier? NOOOOOOO that's not what happened. It was installed and I was given a very large transformer for power. I asked if I could use something smaller "no". Hmmmm are you sure? "yep". Ok. I'm gonna need one for each window then cause my wires won't all reach one transformer and you knew I wasn't hard wiring.....SO I go on the website and see these really simple cords "can I have that?" OHHHHHH you wanted a plug and play? sure. you can have that. just pay some more money. ....Really? It says they are added for "no additional cost". THEY WERE SUPPOSED TO CONNECTED TO THE TINTED PANEL AND SMART TINT DIDN'T DO IT AND WANTED ME TO PAY MY ELECTRICIAN for something they were supposed to do. SO I get the new electrical things and the wires fall off my tint panel... "hey the wires fell off my window in fact they all look pretty fragile that doesn't seem right" "THAT'S NOT UNDER WARRANTY IT MUST HAVE BEEN YOUR INSTALLER YOU CAN PAY FOR A NEW KIT". " UMMMM it is your fault, SMART TINT. Nobody did anything to your electrical because I haven't been able to install that part BECAUSE you didn't give me the right order and it's all fragile looking is there a way to reinforce this?" YOUR INSTALLER SHOULD HAVE PUT THE STUFF OVER THE WIRES" . "OK well I don't see anything else to put on my tint I searched the boxes can you show me a picture? " OH NO YOU HAVE TO BUY THE TRIM WE DON'T SUPPLY THAT". Oh great that's really nice of you for letting me know this stuff needed one more freaking thing that you didn't tell me about. You also have to buy a repair kit for $100 per window. IT'S NEW. REPAIR IT? ARE YOU KIDDING ? AND I USED THE INSTALLER YOU RECOMMEND !! I HATE THESE PEOPLE. I AM BANGING MY HEAD AGAINST THE WALL RIGHT NOW . Zero customer service. I mean even when they tried I still got screwed more. It's like a nightmare I can't get out of. THIS STUFF IS NOT FOR RESIDENTIAL USE if you aren't doing new construction. It looks like shit with red and black wires hanging off of it. They should have NEVER sold me this product. When you see the pics on the site etc that all commercial applications or new construction. They knew what and where I was using it for and didn't tell me it was going to look like crap and of course they didn't tell me it was cheaply made and that they woudn't stand behind it. COMPLETE CROOKS! BEWARE! I was a bit reluctant to order their product, as they are not registered with Google My Business (ie no google reviews available online)....this is usually a bad sign, but I really liked the idea of this product, and was excited that it may indeed solve the window/sunlight problem. I ordered a large piece of smarttint (about $2000) for a window in my house. When I received it, I inspected it and noticed that one of the edges they had cut had 1-2" of what I thought was the protective layer peeled off. I sent pictures to Smarttint, and was told it was not an issue, and that I could simply clean the dust off (in between the split layers) with rubbing alcohol. When the installer came the next day, he put on rubber gloves, and carefully cleaned the dust between the layers.....but when he pulled back the same edge....only to find that it was actually defective de-laminated product...not protective layer. I sent the defective product back to Smarttint, who promptly told me it all my fault. Unbelievable. I told them the 1-2" of corner delaminated product arrived as such....and was promptly that this was "bullshit". At this point, I ask for my money back, and was told "this is not going to happen". The measure of a good company is what they do when things are going wrong. Upon alerting them of the trouble we experienced with our film, severe hazzing effect after one year of installation, the company policy seemed to be to question everything about my installation, even to the extent of issuing a threat that if I had cut the film myself, they wouldn't warranty any of it. I had to pull the film off my glass and send it to them for an assessment where they determined there was nothing wrong with the film and I should have alerted them to a problem within 14 days of the installation rather than waiting a year later, but they were going to replace that piece for me as a gesture of kindness. I replied to the rep stating my experience with them was less than stellar so far and that I expected them to replace both the pieces that were defective. Almost 2 minutes later, I received a call from John telling me how rude I was, how improperly I wrapped the piece I sent them back for the assessment, and how they have much more important and bigger clients than me. He claimed they would send me back my defective piece and would not replace it. It should be stated that I was a reseller for this product line and have put it into my client's homes. I am very concerned for my existing clients now. This company has very questionable tactics in customer service. It's pretty horrible learning that so many others share the same sentiment I do now. If the company reads this, treat your customers with more respect and know that the customer is ALWAYS right when they're sharing what they feel about their experience with you. You can professionally disagree with someone, but the unprofessional behavior you show through your communication is horrendous. I'm ashamed for you, and hope you learn different. read more

BEWARE OF THESE SCAMMERS - I provided detailed written order specifications which they confirmed in writing. They charged me $1000 and shipped me tint that is white frost (not black as clearly specidied) and installed the wrong terminals and provided 18" lead wires vs the 16' ordered, and they didn't send me the dual dimmer systems I paid for. When I contacted Will via email - no reply. When I called their answering service and left a message that I was reversing the charges, I got a call from a guy who claimed to be "John" but sounded just like Will (who I clarified my order details prior to placing the order). John was rude and unprofessional and about 3 min into our conversation, he said "are you calling Smart Tint or Smart Film". I told him that he had called me back from my message that I left for Smart Tint and he hung up on me. I have an aircraft that is torn apart for installation of this film and can't get them to respond to the fact they sent me the wrong product and failed to send the other items like the dual dimmer systems that I paid for. There are other suppliers out there - these guys are sleazy. read more
