This is a continuation and update of my last review. I just had a reputable company fix the issues that Smart Technology failed to fix. They found that the DVR that John sold me a little over a year ago, was very dated and the lowest of quality and was on its last legs. I had the new Company install a name brand DVR and it works fabulously. The Front Gate camera that I mentioned on the last review was grainy and skipped. The new company fixed the settings to make it hi def. Smart Tech obviously didn't have a clue on how to make it work properly. One of the cameras that John moved stopped working because of a faulty wire - duh!. So, this all cost me money, but at least I have a good system and a company that knows what they are doing. Recommendation: If you're going to use Smart Technology: 1. Make sure you do your research on the recommended products and use only name brand - not the crap that Smart Tech makes a huge markup on. 2. Get a copy of their written warranty before doing business with them. 3. Do not pay him until you are totally satisfied. 4. Don't listen to his pitch where he says he is not trying to sell you anything (then he goes ahead and sell you junk). My reviews are 100% factual. read more

John is the man! I originally sought out his help to get our security camera system back online. He nailed it. I asked him his thoughts on mounting the tv over the stone fireplace. He offered a fantastic solution, best part...no WIRES!! John is professional, communicative, knowledgeable and honest. I highly recommend his services...he knows his stuff and execution is top notch! read more

John was definitely the best person we could have hired for our job, hands down! He was professional, personable, patient, knowledgeable, experienced, quick, easy to communicate with and most importantly very solutions-oriented! We had a tricky situation where I wanted to install a tv inside my RH armoire and be able to pull it all the way out without destroying my cabinet and John came up with the perfect solution and was SO dedicated to making me happy. He took the time to figure out the best approach while taking such great care of my furniture & was also very fair and reasonable. After discussing with several electricians and searching online for who could do a relatively simple Ring Floodlight install, I found Smart Technology Solutions (John and Hao). John is extremely down to earth and was able to give me a quote through text (he later confirmed the pricing once he took a look in person). He was very easy to deal with and I'm pleased with the install. It looks professional, clean and it works perfectly. In the future, if I need any larger security system, I would definitely reach out to these guys. Would highly recommend them! read more

I found Smart Technology Solutions through yelp for assistance with utilizing run, but unfinished ethernet and speaker wires. I also required assistance trouble-shooting a TiVo and TiVo mini connection. Victor arrived promptly and at my convenience. He quickly and efficiently assessed my home network, completed the ethernet connection (wires run, but ends were not attached) and went so far as to tidy up the cables. Ultimately, we determined that the TiVo had a hard drive failure, and he returned to ensure the set-up simply worked once I secured a replacement. The price was reasonable for the time he spent. I recommend Victor highly, and would welcome him back for further work in the future. read more

I sent John a text in the afternoon and he was on the job the next day. Had numbers back to me that afternoon and we set up the job for the following weekend. He and his helper were on the job early Saturday and we finished up details on Monday. Helped us set up the apps for our phone and went over the system. I had 5 other installers out prior to talking to John. The pricing was all over the place and none of them elicited the confidence I felt talking to John. We have a school and it was imperative the work be done on the weekend as well as finished prior to the kids arriving. He fully understood and performed beyond my expectations to be honest. I highly recommend him to anyone in need of a security system. Thanks for a great job! read more

John managed to wire up 10 drops + cameras in my new home by using most existing wire and new wire. He scoped the job, worked with me to plan it and test and in general did quality, clean work for way less than I had estimates for. He also figured out how to be scrappy with existing phone wiring, tested everything and came back to reconfigure one drop. All in all, highly recommended and will use again. read more

Smart Tech Solutions hooked me up. They came over, took a quick look at my equipment, and in no time I had a nice flat screen TV mounted on my wall with a nice floating shelve below it. The tech that came over, John, was very nice and professional and really made sure to provide fast, clean, professional service at a great value. I already scheduled him to come again and install some security cameras for me, now I can see what my dog is up to when I'm not home. If you need TV's mounted, Cameras installed, definitely give Smart Technology Solutions a call, they treated me right and I recommend to everyone. read more

John did an amazing job in my home adding a house run of Cat5e. I'd consulted with a few other contractors prior and after a quick phone call with John he was the clear choice of who I would trust with this task. The price was right, correspondence was timely, the service was excellent, the job was done intelligently and courteously. He and his team arrived exactly when he said they would and cleaned up and left everything exactly how it was before they started. I am already thinking about how I can use his services for additional projects. read more

HIGHLY recommend this company!!!!! Extremely professional and reliable. Smart Technology Solutions did a walk through explained everything they were going to do and did exactly that. We had 12 cameras installed in our home. The work is absolutely amazing. We wanted this done on a very short notice, as we were getting ready to travel out of the states, they were the only company we contacted that actually made us feel comfortable and worked with our timeline to get it done immediately. John and his team worked efficiently and professionally and got it done when he said they would. And when they left I didn't even have to clean after the workers (I've had to do that before with another company for work in our home). Most importantly the quality in the cameras is amazing, he also helped set it up on our phones. From the get go John was on top of everything. He is a pleasure to do business with and is always around to answer any of our questions. We will definitely recommend Smart Technology Solutions to our friends and family and to anyone looking to upgrade their home with cameras. read more

I contacted John to get a bid on installing exterior lighting and a Ring doorbell. His bid was well under other companies that I contacted. I have to admit I was a bit leery, but John provided superior workmanship and was very polite. I had an audio problem with my surround sound that factory technicians were not able to resolve in five service calls. John spent about 10 minutes on the problem and fixed it! I had just purchased new phones and he was very patient with setting up my ring devise and even helped with some non related issues with my phones! John is now my electrician, lighting and electronics go to person. I would not hesitate referring anyone to John and STS. read more

Awesome service and expert installation. I had a slightly complex install of a Ring Doorbell camera that I had received estimates for that seemed high. John offered an incredible value proposition and he and Hao (his partner) installed the camera neatly and professionally. I would HIGHLY recommend John and Smart Technology Solutions for any AV and other complicated or difficult installs. They are the best! read more

My problem was an Ethernet connection between a router and my home office PC. I looked up previous reviews and gave John a call. I was so glad I did. John showed up promptly on time. After I described the problem, John located the source of the problem - a severed cable in the attic. He quoted a very reasonable price and quickly replaced the cable and reconnected the router and the PC. John is courteous and efficient, and knows what he's doing. I'll definitely call on John in the future and enthusiastically recommend him. read more

Super impressed and completely happy with the work. John is incredibly knowledgable of all systems and one of the nicest people I have had the pleasure of working with. My husband did not purchase a standard television mount and had very specific ideas about how he wanted to sound system to work. Couple all of that with the challenging space and a fireplace; and I wasn't sure it could be done. But John did it and did it beautifully. Everything looks great, works great and was done professionally. Thank you John. I have no doubt we will call him back when we replace out TV as well as any other installations we need. You really can be worry free if you hire John. read more

A Big thank you to John for coming out in a days notice to help me with figuring out the wiring to connect my old VCR to my TV. I can't express how lucky I am to have stumbled upon Smart Technology Solutions via Yelp. After calling a number of different services for TV Mounting around the area I decided to give them a ring. They were more competitively priced then their competitors for starters and were able to squeeze me in same-day on a Saturday late morning. John and Hao arrived and they were they were the consumate professionals to say the least. Within 30-45 minutes time they managed to perfectly measure and mount my 65' inch and 55 inch TV's (one of them being a newly purchased OLED TV). They were kind, curteous and most importantly they did an incredible job even providing wire covering to provide a clean and beautiful looking result in both the living room and bedroom of my apartment. If you are looking for professional work at a reasonable price (that beats every nearby competitor in the area) Smart Technology Solutions is THE best choice. I am so grateful for their incredible work as they made the process quick and easy. It goes without saying I will be certainly reaching out to them for their security camera services as well as some of the other work they do because they did fantastic work. Thank You John & Hao you guys are awesome and Smart Technology Solutions provides TOP NOTCH service. 100!!! read more

I rarely leave reviews but because John was incredibly professional and prompt, I just had to make sure everyone was aware of his services. He not only mounted my TV with great efficiency, he also was very honest about issues I had with my existing mount and was very transparent about his pricing. He made it very clear that I had the choice to go ahead with my own mount or use his and I didn't feel any pressure from him to choose. Their was no "salesman" vibe from him at all which was a relief. John was super helpful and I will definitely go to him for any future entertainment/home security installations. Highly recommend. read more

Very friendly, courteous and fast. Had our system up and running very quickly. Honestly in and out in about twenty minutes and left us with a fully operational security system that met our needs. Only problem I encountered was a small lack of specific specification in which I was enquiring about in regards to bring able to set dead zones or active zones to either ignore movement or dogs in movement in those areas. Aside from that nitpick it was a great install and service read more

I had 2 outdoor security cameras installed by John D. I decided to start with just 2 and I did not want to go with a security company like ADT. This was all very foreign to me and John walked me through the process step by step. He was punctual, honest, professional, a hard working guy who knows his stuff, and wants to make sure that you are happy with everything., and is accessible for questions or concerns. I had a lot of questions prior and he would answer them by text or email. He did a great job hiding the cable on the outside of the house. The part I was most anxious about was using the app to monitor it from my phone. He set the whole thing up, then patiently taught me how to use it. The app is actually very user friendly. He made sure I understood and could demonstrate how to view, playback, etc. When I'm ready for more cameras, I will use him again. I highly recommend Smart Technology Solutions and John D.!!! read more
