Yes, I said it - there was a man driving - that decided he needed to be before everyone, driving on the shoulder and pushing his way through as I was talking with my husband (hands free) on the way home - the man was so inpatient that he drove on the shoulder and I was the one who let him in and he decided to keep hitting his brakes and threaten me that I had to dial 911 and give them the tag number - so these cameras will come in handy to record the violent me first behavior on the roads that are now a permanent effect these days. People have become so rude and don't know how to communicate or show common courtesy to each other since the covid lockdown. Back to Johnny - wouldn't ask for a better person to do business with - he is top of his craft - actually my husband is going back to have his front windows tinted. Thank you Johnny

I'm sharing my experience because it was extremely stressful and time-consuming, even though I was…read morenot the person who originally contracted with Smart Start. I purchased a used vehicle that still had a Smart Start ignition interlock device (IID) installed from a previous owner who had been in the MA RMV Interlock Program. I had no account with Smart Start and no contractual relationship with them. After buying the car, I worked directly with the MA Interlock Program, which issued written authorization for the device to be removed. Despite this, Smart Start refused to remove their equipment unless I paid over $2K in fees that belonged to the previous owner. I made it clear I was willing to pay the standard removal fee (around $345), but Smart Start did not respond to my request or legal action and continued to insist on payment of someone else's debt. Because of this, I was unable to register or legally use a car that I owned, even though the RMV had already approved removal. I even contacted the MA Attorney General's Consumer Protection Division, who advised that the situation would likely need to be resolved through small claims court due to potential violations of consumer protection laws. What made this even more frustrating is that the IID had already been marked as lost/stolen in Smart Start's system, yet they still refused to recover their own equipment -- even when I offered to pay the standard removal fee. I hope Smart Start improves how they handle situations like this, because no one should be put in this position over an account they never opened.

This is our second appointment. They said they couldn't do it the first time because they needed 4…read morehours to work around my fiancé's hand controls (he's in a wheelchair and controls gas with his hands). Been here for an hour and a half already and they JUST NOW finished getting his profile together. Lots of short answers and brushing us off. They just took him back to let him watch the "how to" video and wouldn't let me watch it because I'm not the client. My fiancé is in a wheelchair and I drive 80% of the time, so it would be great if I knew how to properly use it too! Not friendly to disabled clients. They said our appointment was going to take 4 hours because they had to work around his hand controls. So, our plan was to drop off the van and Lyft home. After he finished watching the video, they were supposed to show him how to use the system. The video finished and no one was in the office so he came out. We sat... I heard laughing in the garage so I went out. Everyone was standing at the end of the garage talking and smoking. I asked them if someone could show him how to use the system so we could leave. He said we had to stay. I said we have to stay for the whole 4 hours? He responded, no, we're done. We'll show him in a minute. YOU NEED TO GO SIT DOWN AND BE PATIENT! I asked if I could watch the demonstration and he said no, only clients. At which point I grabbed my purse and started walking. HORRIBLE experience! WORST customer service EVER!
