Oh no!!! Had a water heater fail at 6:30 in the morning where the drain valve popped off and dumped 30 gallons of hot water all over my place. Cleaned it up and proceeded to find a plumber that would answer the phone at 7:00 in the morning. Left several messages with about half a dozen plumbers in the area and Jim at SmartRooter was only one to return my call within the hour. He truly is on the ball 24/7, which led me to believe he is truly about customer service. After hanging up, he was here within 50 minutes...talk about caring, I like it! He and his crew were masked ala COVID, courteous, and protected the work surface...they demonstrated that they were truly are professionals even before turning one wrench. As 99.9% of us have that dread of the unknown house problems and if who you called would get it done right. Smart Rooter is the real deal. In my case it was clear that the unit needed be replaced, since it was way over due, who knew water heaters needed to be replaced every 15-20 years, its not a life time item folks. Jim also diagnosed a problem with the "isolation valve" in the plumbing which also needed to be swapped out since the valve was 30+ yrs old along with the water heater. He got that replaced while pulling out the old unit. They came back with a replacement water heater and necessary hardware in a couple of hours. Nice to see they had a true plumbing brand unit with them and not some do it yourself big-box store unit, you truly get what you pay for in my experience. They spent the next few hours setting up the water heater with requisite hardware and safety parts. And finally took to the time to double check functioning and explained the settings on it. In less than a day he got the job done and hot water was running at home again, yay! I wouldn't hesitate to call Jim and SmartRooter again. We live in a hundred year old victorian house. Everything is old and needs replacing. I remember my dad mentioned to me in the past it would have to be changed out. Luckily, Jimmy answered my inquiry via text message. After the many attempts of thinking it was a clogged toilet, plunging and plunging it did not budge. The water came back up, and air bubbles. I figured it needed to be snaked or was the sewer line eekkk. All communication was done through Yelp and things went smoothly until the team member arrived. I ended up laughing it off, but the experience was unreal. Upon his arriving I offered a welcoming hello and thanks for coming out, coffee, tea, or something else to drink. What I received in response was nothing. No response whatsoever. No greeting, no introduction, no anything. After a few minutes of silence I wondered if there was a language barrier. When he did end up speaking, I realized he was just unprofessional. I had three things that broke all at once; a front hose/faucet, my washing machine faucet which connects to the hot water and my garbage disposal went down the drain (pardon the pun). This is my first yelp review even though I've used it for years! Jim came over same day on time (even though I was late) and got right to work diagnosing the issue. He explained what he was doing in terms I could understand. He tried 3 times using 3 different methods to unplug our sewer line that had backed up and was starting to leach into our garage (yuck!). When he still couldn't get through he explained that our past company must have failed to reattach one line it when we had our sewer lateral compliance work done. He offered to come back to explain what he did to them or to do the work if they wouldn't. He worked really hard for 2.5 hours and his price seemed really fair. Jim responded within 2 hours of my call; regarding a surge of wastewater from the toilets and showers. After showing up, he immediately quoted a fair price, which turned out to be the final price. Even though the sewage backup was no longer happening, when he got there, he was able to determine that there was some obstruction in the pipes, simply by the sound of the water after the toilet was flushed. I also got a good visual of my sewer pipe and saw that they were in good shape, but he recommended a return visit in about 2 years to clean out the pipes and system. We had our shower/tub back-to-back drain completely back up. The first plumber couldn't fix it and after a few phone calls to people who didn't sound like they knew what they were doing, I found Jim. He came right over to assess the issue and was extremely professional, knowledgeable and honest.
