Despite being Filipino, I never was taught Tagalog growing up. I recently was inspired to learn…read moreTagalog, and I was super pleased to learn there was a place nearby that teaches it! I wanted to better connect with the language associated with my heritage, so I decided to invest the time and money to learn Tagalog. I took the Level 1 hybrid course with Rhya in early summer 2026. Overall, it provided a great foundation for introductory grammar and vocab for Tagalog. By the end of the first course, you quickly become comfortable being able to ask simple questions (like where are you from? what's your name?), answering with affirmative/negation statements, and even being able to ask "how much/how many" with Tagalog numbers right off the bat. The class structure felt perfect, with the small class sizes. The course was very interactive, as we were constantly engaging and practicing the language throughout each course. And of course, it provided a safe space to make mistakes and grow with the language. If we made a mistake, Rhya would walk us through our mistake to help understand where it was and why the correct answer was provided. The class structure was also perfect for my work schedule. There were times I had to travel for work and miss a lecture. Because I was signed up for the hybrid course, I was provided class recordings after each session, allowing me to catch up and not feel left behind. The sessions are definitely catered to working adults, with all courses being offered in the evenings. Each session was 90 mins long each week for 7 weeks. I learned a lot from Level 1, and I'm excited to continue on to Level 2!

The instructor that I had, Keiko is great. She is very patient and always willing to help. (The courses can be fast though depending the language and the books being used). The other people there are always very polite and helpful as well. The facility, while basic, is clean and conducive to learning. They seem to use a mix of media (e.g. slides, Quizlet, etc. which is good). FYI - it is near SJC - San Jose Int'l airport and the jets taking off can be somewhat loud at times.

Shoutout to her very first teachers in the Green class, Ms. Priya and Ms. Anna, who were so engaging and nurturing, creating a foundation for my child to "want to go to school" and allowed her to seamlessly transition from a daycare to a more formal school setting. In the second year, Red class teachers Ms. Zhila and Ms. Ma, created a caring, interactive classroom with academic focus to prepare the kids for kindergarten. Kudos also to other class teachers and the kind and welcoming staff including Ms. Usha, Ms. Malu, Ms. Marian, and Ms. Van. The school uses an app that allows for easy communication with the teachers, and we are kept up to date on lunch menu, curriculum, and photos. The school is comprehensive in their social activities such as annual winter performance, holiday celebrations, parent teacher conferences, family events, etc. The kids also have regular music and kung fu classes. The school is bilingual English/Mandarin, with a daily Mandarin language learning component, so it is helpful to have some exposure to the language and culture so the kids can understand better, and the lunches are sometimes Chinese meals. Teachers are supportive and open to address any concerns at any time. Classrooms and playground are large, clean, and bright. My child has thrived, socially and academically, at Ready Preschool due to the support and care of a great team of loving and dedicated teachers. We can't thank them enough, and highly recommend Ready Preschool!

He's been in 3 of the 4 classrooms and all his teachers have been wonderful. While he was in the orange room, Ms Miriam and Ms Van took great care of him. He was still in diapers and we partnered with the teachers there to get him potty trained. In the green room he had Ms Priya and Ms Anna and they had to be his favorite teachers there. Currently he's in the red room and his teachers are Ms Zhila and Ms Ma. He's learned so much in a short time, he's doing addition, teaching me about matter, and planting vegetables. His teachers are so kind, dedicated, and caring. One of the biggest perks is that the provide lunch and snacks. My son always finishes his lunch and we're told he asks for seconds. We receive the monthly lessons and weekly photos. There are also activities happening every month, in addition to music class and kung fu. They also still continue nap time even in the red room so your child gets some rest after lunch. The school provides a great balance of academic and social skills. The students are majority Chinese and there are daily Chinese lessons. Even though we do not speak mandarin at home he's picked up mandarin in class and was able to sing us songs, speak some phrases, and count to 10.

The teachers and staff all genuinely care about the success of the students and in helping them learn Cantonese and the Chinese culture. The teachers use fun and engaging ways to teach the material, and it's definitely made my daughter enjoy going to school on a Saturday a little more. I also really appreciate that the teachers are very open to feedback from the parents, and am always looking for ways to improve the classroom. In terms of academics, besides learning to read and write Chinese, my daughter has also had lots of opportunities to practice speaking Cantonese in the classroom as well. This was especially important for me, as we don't speak Cantonese much at home, and am always looking for opportunities to have her practice. It's becoming increasingly hard to find Cantonese schools in my area, so it's been really great having found BCS and being around like-minded parents (and teachers) who all work hard together to pass on the Cantonese language.

Last year in Sep/16 we enrolled our son to the Hindi classes, who could only understand Hindi but…read morecould never speak. The classes are run at San Jose center by Mr Kamal. The teaching concepts are very simple and precise, and the best part is parents involvement. At least one parent is required to attend the class along with the kid, to ensure that everyone is on same page and parent understand the strength and improvement area for their child. From the very beginning itself, my son has shown tremendous growth. In fact each and every child in the class had similar growth. By the end of first quarter, they were up to reading and writing Hindi alphabet. In second quarter, they were taught some special letters, 2-3 letter word formation. This was followed with half letters and special case of 'R' usages, along with sentence formation, numerals, family relationships, body parts, etc in the third quarter. The classes are held once a week at a very convenient time of 11-12 in the morning. Each week is exciting and my son has always been super enthusiastic to attend the next class. Three quarters down since this started, today my son can speak and talk in Hindi. He can read write Devanagiri script (though fluency is desired). Overall the change is beyond expectation, since we always believed it will take few years of persistent effort from our side to even get him to converse in Hindi. I have a lot of appreciation for Mr Kamal and his team, who came up with this idea of Hindi classes and built a solid teaching concepts around it. It does require parent's involvement and about an hour every week, but it is all fun to see the transformation. I would highly recommend this class to anyone who is looking for the same. They also have center in Hayward, if that is convenient.
