There are exactly two places open in the food hall: A boutique that sells gifts and a taco place. As we entered the building, another couple exiting warned us that there were really no options, but since we walked over, we decided to pop in anyway and get a feel for the place. Probably should have listened to that couple, there was really no point in going inside. Also disappointing was the website, which listed a number of establishments but had no links to their individual sites/Facebook pages/Instagrams. I think there was a coating on them that I wasn't a huge fan of, but they were tender and well-salted (salt is very important to me, lol). If we had gone in for our fish & chips, I think the fries would've been fine. I still think they should get rid of the coating, though....french fries don't need to coated in anything. The hostess told us there was only one server working, who already had five tables, and didn't want to overload them. She asked if we could wait "about seven minutes" until the next server was supposed to arrive for their shift. Since the restaurant was nearly empty, I asked whether we could simply sit at a table and order beverages while we waited. Instead of answering, she stared at her iPad and tapped around for nearly a minute while acting completely bewildered by the question. Eventually, I told her it was fine and that we would wait in the waiting area. When she finally seated us, she placed us in a booth directly behind the hostess stand and next to the open kitchen, the loudest and busiest area of the restaurant. The booth cushion also had a large tear in it. Again, about 90% of the restaurant was empty. Because we had a baby with us, I asked whether we could sit somewhere quieter. She said the only other option was a half-booth across the dining room. I pointed to several empty full booths and asked whether we could sit in one of those. Once again, she acted as though this was an unreasonable request and told me those booths "weren't open yet." At that point, we decided to leave and eat somewhere else. The entire interaction made it seem like staff convenience was far more important than providing even basic customer service. We weren't asking for anything unreasonable, we simply wanted to sit in one of the many empty booths away from the kitchen. Instead, a family that came in ready to spend money left without ordering and will not be returning. The customer service was terrible, and the front-of-house staff seriously need better training.
