Please do yourself a favor and look at the 1 star reviews - I certainly should have (just looked at the overall 4.6). I am sure he is great at detailing - we never got to that point. His messages are incredibly rude and strange. My experience was identical to some of the people who posted screenshots of awful text messages. I was shocked and was made to feel unsafe by my interaction with this man. He'll probably reply to this with a nasty message about hurting small businesses or saying it is a fake review. I am a small business owner and would never treat a customer this way. Businesses that treat customers so poorly should be reported - people do not deserve to be mislead by this 4.6 review and should take caution before considering William. If you know William personally, please get him some help - I mean this sincerely. In reply to William's comment: I won't disclose my information because I am concerned that he has my address and I do feel threatened. I was a real customer. His response is not the truth - and I could easily provide screenshots of texts from him like so many others. The owner was initially very communicative and accommodating when scheduling the appointment, yet did not respond to any calls or texts the day before or the day of the appointment and no one came to work on my car. Super clean car -- better than when I bought it! I hadn't gotten it cleaned it in over a year of cross country road-tripping and camping...so it was a big job! They did great detailing and exterior clean. My steering wheel felt so nice and brand new, exterior was glossy, just a great job! Texting and setting up an appointment was easy. They cleaned the car while I worked from home. Didn't need any supplies or water from me. The service and communication was really polite and straight forward. Good to note-- if your street is not really safe (I live on a blind corner where cars drive fast) they can take the car and clean around the corner. This situation is so disappointing. I'm a professional with children and I called William on June 17 to clean my car. He said he was booked. I then asked could he put me on the wait list, he did. And he texted me at 12:47 and said he could do 2pm that day. I responded at 12:55 and he said it was booked, within 7 minutes how? That should've been my first red flag but I offered another opportunity. Then I decided to call because texting was cumbersome. We spoke he said next week Thursday can work. I said great! So I texted today (Thursday) to ask what time is he coming and he said I wasn't in his appointment book?? What? How?....Okay....so another opportunity- I ask him when's his next availability. He texted me at 11:40am and said Tuesday 8-9. (Mind you I've been waiting for his services for over a week and a half ) I responded at 11:43 and said great could we do 7:40am on Tuesday because I have to drop my children to camp. He texts me at 12:26 and says that won't work. I respond at 12:42 with, "okay just please be here at 8am sharp." At 12:43 he says I can no longer do Tuesday the spot is taken???? Wait. I've been in dialogue with you going on two weeks. And you just confirmed and canceled within a time span of 20 minutes. DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME. DON'T WASTE YOUR ENERGY OR MONEY. Find someone who respects your schedule and respects customers. I've attached pictures. Check out the time stamps because something tells me he's going to try to say the times we're incorrect. This is my second Auto Detailing from Smart Choice in two years. I'm giving Smart Choice a 5 star rating for a few clear reasons: convenience, communication, flexibility, fair/transparent pricing, and quality of work. Convenience - Smart Choice came to the apartment buildings I lived at in both years and all I had to do was to describe what I needed done, drop my keys off for a couple of hours, and come pick it up. Communication - Smart Choice reached out to me 24 hours before by text to confirm my appointment. Flexibility - Smart Choice was able to accommodate my last minute unavailability and switched me to another day without many issues. Fair/Transparent Pricing - I know the state that my car was in. It wasn't pristine, so I felt like the price for the premium cleaning was very fair. And the quote ended up being the same as my final charge. Omg. This guy is AMAZING. I have a beat up 2007 Malibu I have let get disgusting because why pay to have it cleaned. But enough naggy comments from my boyfriend to inspire me, I found smart choice. My car interior LOOKS NEW. Like, the seats my nieces spilled pop all over. My other niece puked Indian food all over. COMPLETELY CLEAN. The spaces between seats and glove box and floors are shining. I am shook. My boyfriend laughed and reacted like he just won the showcase on the price is right. Also, this guy is the small business you say you want to support but never can find. He's dedicated and kind and so friendly. The bad reviews are because yelp is tough to use. Check him out though you will not regret it. Where to start...??? Booking was easy and Will was responsive- hence 1 star. I listed the make and model of my car and mentioned all the areas that needed to be cleaned and focused on - we agreed to a price of $400. Will arrived on time and we conducted a walk-thru and again I mentioned thareas to be focused on - he mentioned no problem- we cannot fix deep scratches or anything, which I understood- I just wanted the car to be detailed- not restored. Will then moves the cones and said he need to "leave" for a moment...um okay, no problem. I asked if he needed anything here that I can provide so he did not have to leave. He finally said " I am not able to complete this work to what you are looking for". Okay..what - I mentioned and provided all details prior to booking. I asked can you just wash or do a basic detail, which he said "no". He literally was going to pretend to go to the store and not come back! I took off work today to have this service completed and he was just going disappear and not come back, if I did not ask further questions, I would have been sitting here waiting like an idiot for him to return. If Will agreed to perform a detail for a $400 caliber, you would think he could perform said service. This was truly a waste of time and I'm truly disappointed in his professionalism. UPDATE 3/7/20 : I just saw the response from the owner, stating "I looked under the influence" , I hope you understand that statement is slander (look up what your statement reflects and the legal repercussions are). My post is pure fact and I have all documentation as backup. I never asked to you to "fix" the paint - I asked if it could be buffed or the look somehow improved- it was a question, not a commitment to the original service agreement. For folks who read the reviews, pay attention to how the owner responds, he insults, is slanderous and acts as though he is the victim, which is very telling. I have the texts the owner sent to me....see attached. Everything I wrote on this review is based on fact. An interesting fact: I had another detailer come by the same day and made my CLK look new brand new, for less $. UPDATE 2: 3/720 - Will removed the comment of me "looking under the influence", changed/edited the original response as it was untrue and pure slander. We never got to the "detailing" part, as the business owner abruptly packed everything up and quit after I told him I was having problems with my valet key not opening the driver's door (it's a used car I am having spruced up for my daughter and the lock is broken). He seemed offended, which was not my intent. He contacted me later to apologize about his reaction, but still refuses to come after I have the lock/key issue fixed. It's too bad, as he seems to do very good work. His reaction today was similar to some of the other one star reviews on Yelp. Be warned that the owner can be very particular/testy and his reactions to any potential obstacle can be extreme (e.g., "no soup for you!"). Back to finding someone to detail my car. read more

I see a lot of reviews complaining about how the owner operates and his lack of customer service. These reviews made me use someone else to detail my car this year. The new company I used was rated five stars and detailed my car pretty good, but not as good as Smart Choice. The owner of Smart Choice can clean the hell out of a car. So figure out what is more important to you: customer service or a clean ass car. He may not have the bubbly personality, but he's good at what he does. I can't say I've had bad customer service from him in my personally experience. Sometimes I think we expect people in the service industry to kiss our assess. They have bad days just like the rest of us. And some of them may not be "happy go lucky". So you have to ask your self: what am I paying him for? If it's to clean your car... You will get your monies worth for every dime you spend with this company. I wish I would have used him again after using him three years in a row. I let the customer service reviews get to me. The other company had great customer service but my car seat still has stains that Smart Choice would have been able to remove. If his customer service is bad, just think, you only have to deal with him for what... maybe two hours tops? At this rate, I'll tolerate a little sass... because he's the best car interior detailer out there. read more

UPDATED PICS AT THE END OF HIS RESPONSE. If I could rate it even worse, I would. Completely and utterly unprofessional and a huge waste of time. I had booked an appointment to have an interior cleaning for my car. Everything seemed fine up until the appointment time. They texted that they were running late, and moved the appointment back 45 minute. Which was completely fine, had they actually done any work on my car. My husband went out to help them find our car. We live in an apartment building, which was mentioned when I sent in my booking request. When they arrived the had trouble finding my car and my husband said they told him over the phone, "This parking lot is too frustrating. I'm leaving." And drove off past him while he was waving them down. I am completely dissatisfied, especially because everyone else's reviews were so good. After reading through much more than the first few reviews I am finding out that apparently they have a history of unprofessionalism and all around terrible customer service skills. A complete waste of time. After I posted my review he texted me completely unprompted and began insulting me. Our car was parked where we live. They showed up and made my car spotless. They were able to clean all the little spots where dirt and crumbs hide. They remove chocolate milk spills, and cheeto stains. The car looks brand new inside. There were some scratches and oxidation marks on the exterior they were not able to remove but they made my car shine regardless. Instead of explaining his inability to satisfy the request (which 2 other businesses have since agreed to), he provided his incredibly rude and unprofessional response. Strongly recommend you find a different Update: This individual is not only unprofessional, but hostile toward his potential customers. He has threatened to sue me for my negative review, which is completely accurate. Fair and simple. He does not understand that Yelp generates a standard form message to vendors when customers seek bids for services- which was why my one request apparently sounded similar to others he had previously received from other potential clients. I scheduled with Willam for car wash & cleaning/auto detailing of my Mercedes Benz. He came yesterday morning right on time with his helper/colleague. He was very professional & accommodating & helped me remove some remaining things from the backseat & trunk. William was very nice about helping me remove these items. He & his helper worked very hard cleaning & detailing my car. He located 3-credit cards that had fallen under my car seat & put all 3 of them in the cup holder next to my driver's seat. You may recall I paid you $200 & a $25 tip. My console cover where you cleaned, will not stay in place. My mechanic looked at it & thinks one of the clamps/clips was broken when you cleaned my car. I also noticed the sticky glaze from the inspection sticker on the windshield wasn't cleaned & the glove compartment was also missed. Also a small, rooted, evergreen tree with a red bow by my driveway where you worked, is missing?? Not sure if someone may have thought I was throwing it out; I wasn't & planned to plant it in the spring. Please contact me so we can arrange a day & time to take care of these issues within 10-calendar days from today, 7 February 2020. 11-Feb 2020- After more careful observation, I see where several places in my car weren't cleaned such as visors, carpeting not thoroughly vacuumed or shampooed, & other areas & headlights' lens weren't cleaned...17 Feb 2020- William gave me a credit card refund - $225 but I will have to spend $258 for console cover part and more $ for labor to install console cover. My expectations were low because I had never gotten my car deep cleaned before and I wasn't referred to SmartChoiceDC, I just simply did a search on Yelp and the company showed up in my results. William was very responsive, he also accommodated my schedule, and kept me informed every step of the process. He kept me up to date on when he was on his way, he went through the car with me so he could explain the areas he would focus on etc., and he left my car looking AMAZING!
