Conveniently located in the heart of Tierrasanta, near the I-15 and by other businesses. This Smart and Final is a solid one-stop shop with plenty of parking (that's a plus!). It was my first time here with my co-worker and was pleasantly surprised. The store was clean, well-organized, and not too crowded for a Wednesday afternoon. Customer service was friendly and helpful. One employee assisted us in locating a product, and our cashier was very pleasant. Even with just two lanes open, the checkout line was quick - WOOT! We ended up filling two whole carts for our department function and found everything we needed. I especially liked their selection of bulk items - it gave me a mini-Costco vibe without the overwhelming crowds. Quick vegan finds: 1. Grains, pantry staples like rice, beans, oats, pasta 2. Canned and jarred goods like veggies, sauces, tomatoes 3. Frozen fruits/veggies like berries, peas, stir-fry 4. Plant-based snacks - chips, nuts, popcorn, crackers 5. Beverages - juice, coffee, tea, sparkling water, plant-based milks 6. Baking essentials - flour, sugar, baking soda, cocoa powder 7. Condiments - ketchup, mustard, salsa, hot sauce, vegan-friendly dressings 8. Paper goods/cleaning supplies - paper towels, dish soap, laundry detergent We were on a time crunch, so I didn't get to explore the produce section as I originally planned. On Wednesday, 05/27/2026 at approximately 8:30 AM, I went to the S&F store in Tierrasanta. I noticed that there was a large garbage bin full of parsley with very few yellow leaves, but overall in good condition. I asked the produce person and the sales clerk if I would be able to take them since I had fostered small animals for an organization. The manager at that moment arrived to instruct me that all produce in the garbage bin was not to be taken since it was a liability. I explained the organization I was with and still refused stating that all this produce goes to a processing plant for disposal. He could have just said "recycling." My question is: If this manager was so concerned about "liability" then why have I seen produce bags for 99 cents sold that were molding. I go to the S&F everyday or every other day and I see potatoes that are sprouting or discolored with green and that makes them toxic. I also see bell peppers, cucumbers, and cactus leaves with mold. All this being sold to the public. The manager should also check the produce in the regular shelfs because some produce needs to be pulled for wilting and discoloration. Yet it is still there days later rotting and a "liability." I shop at S&F for the great prices and also the produce on sale like 99 cents but much of it needs to be pulled. The parsley he was throwing away looked better than the parsley on the shelfs. Why doesn't S&F allow for sanctuaries that have small rabbits, hamsters, guinea pigs, etc. have the produce? I know Pavilions donates very good produce and bread to organizations that feed the homeless. This manager was extremely harsh and rude. read more

Clean store and the prices are reasonable. There was only one cashier open today and the line was long. The cashier was judgy and not nice when I questioned the charge was off from the tag. The cupcake trays w/a round middle cake were all $12.99, but he acted like I was lying to him. He had to call the bakery to tell them that it was mispriced. 202510xx I've been shopping at S&F Tierrasanta since they opened. I used to think their sushi deli products were reasonably priced, but not anymore. Portions appear smaller (I thought they used to be thicker), regardless of weight on label. They tout half-price sushi on Fridays. What I noticed about the one I bought was that the sushi was half the normal packaging(!), so half-price? Not a bargain, not a good deal. Honestly, this place continues to surprise me! They have a great selection of produce and I can always count on smart and final to have products that vons/Ralph's are out of! This store is usually fairly organized. Not too cluttered! The cashiers are usually friendly and helpful! On thanksgiving the cashier even helped me by recommending a turkey that was on better sale than the one I had grabbed! Very helpful! read more

Horrible experience with online delivery order. I placed my order back on 11/10/23 and still waiting for a resolution. My order was left at the wrong location. As soon as the driver sent me a confirmation of my delivery, I notified him immediately that it was not my house. He responded that's where the app took him. I confirmed my address, which was noted correctly on my order. His response: That's odd idk why it would do such a thing :/ makes for unnecessary problems. I never heard from him again. I took the photo he sent and went in search of my order. To add insult to injury, he purchased the wrong items. There was no receipt with the delivery. I tried the 800 number on the website and got a disconnected recording. I emailed S&F, and they sent me a case number. The following day, I received a digital copy of my receipt. I noted there was a Rockstar energy drink purchased on my order. I did not order this item. So, onto of the 10% tip, the driver purchased an item that was charged under my order. I'm still trying to get my order corrected or refunded a week later! I received a response from S&F yesterday stating they processed a refund of $7.28!!!!!! read more

I don't know what's is going on with the Smart & Final's employees Tierrasanta, but if you want poor customer service, and deal with rude employees, come to this store. These employees are NEEEEVER in good mood, they don't even say good morning or hi back to you, it is almost an inconvenience for them just to look at you when you are paying your stuff. I mean, I am not asking to be hugged, and be cuddled every time I go, but can these people just...smile once in a while? Is it too much? That's why I always avoid this store and prefer to go to Vons Tierrasanta no matter if I have to drive a little more. The only advantage Smart and Final has over Vons Tierrasanta is the size of some products (bigger), but that's it. I prefer to deal with smaller product sizes than rude employees any day. I went yesterday, Wed 6/5 around 3 pm. One regular register open (and one for less than 10 items). Had a lot of items, so went to regular one. Cashiers are always very rude there. This guy had hoodie (tan) up, long messy hair hanging out, grunted comments.. Then I'm outside leaving and a guy in all black, stocky, (Hispanic?), shaved head, coming into work I guess, said very rudely "that's why we offer cart to car service". I had used a riding cart and left it by my car. I'm disabled, and didn't appreciate him being so rude. I'll go to Santee from now on, I only go there for a few specific items and tired of employees being so rude and miserable. read more

Disclosed and clearly displayed I bought the item that Smart and Final doesn't even have in inventory at a different store at check out. Was immediately questioned, with even a manager being called. Honestly I did not plan to like this store. As a community we were hoping for a Gelson's. Or if that wouldn't work out, a Trader Joe's. However, this store has been a pleasant surprise. Extremely helpful employees. Beautiful fresh produce. And, my favorite. A fresh sushi chef that has actually influenced other nearby chains to add a similar offering to their stores. The TierraSanta location, and perhaps other S&F locations, have contracted to bring in traditionally trained Japanese sushi chefs. The result is fresh, local, priced right and excellent. They generally have an excellent selection of wine at this store and both their wine and liquor prices are very comparable to Costco's ... without the trip and parking issues. By far the WORST produce selection I have ever seen at a grocery store. All of the lettuce was completely wilted. Literally every bundle of "fresh" spinach was brown. Nice new Smart and Final. I stopped in after having lunch nearby to pick up some fruits and vegetables. They produce department was located right as I walked in to the right so, everything I needed was right there. Prices were pretty good too and the department was well stocked and organized. While I was browsing, several of the employees asked if I need help finding something, which was nice because usually being ignored is usually the case at other stores. I was also pleased that they offer a really nice selection of Organic produce. I picked up some good looking Gala apples for .99 lbs, some organic mangoes for $1.49 each, a half dozen of bananas, and some organic Yukon Gold Potatoes for $1.39 lbs. Curious, I also picked up a box of White Tea they had on sale for $2.79. All in all, it was a good visit. Management is less than professional. I went into Smart, & Final Tierrasanta 1/3/23 9am ish. I walked in looking for blood oranges. The veg/fruit was empty. A lot of their items were not available. I walked pass(meat area) two mangers talking. I noticed when I passed by he started following me. I kept shopping. Went by the dairy he showed up acting as if he was "facing" an item. I am a athletic coach at a nearby high school. Plus I had on my school jacket plus I had my arm(right) in a sling. I went down the aisle that he was in and not was requiring "facing". I went to a register where he followed me with a can of mix nuts in his hands. If there is a high theft in the store your way of policing will get a non positive response. I usually come here every once in a while for alcohol runs. It's decently priced. I honestly have to say that the staff here are what makes this store! The workers are hospitable, go out of their way to help customers and always have a great positive attitude and big smiles. The Cashier, Simone, was very rude. The item I bought had a price on the package of $5.39. It rang up $5.99. I pointed the discrepancy out to her and she acted like she didn't understand. I said it rang up more than the price on the package. She sighed and tried several times to adjust the price, finally succeeding without a word to me. I like this store as it's not as crowded as other markets. However, on 9/9 while shopping there one cashier was not wearing a mask & the other was wearing it below her nose. (Most of the viral loads are in the nasal passage). This store is next to a senior apt. complex where seniors shop for groceries. The staff should mask up to protect their customers. While the store doesn't have as low on prices than other grocery stores, it does have decent sale items. The tip is read the entire sale label, e.g. $2.99 only if you buy 2 else it's the regular price of $4.99. They do seem to fall short on cashier lines even at low peak time, but I've not had to wait too long. The produce seem very fresh with a larger selection of organic choices than I've seen at other places. I think small touches such as friendlier greetings and customer acknowledgment may gain more positive customer satisfaction. However I will say I have not had a bad experience. Yesterday I observed the rotisserie chicken taken right out of the oven. It smelled soooo delicious. I asked the chef how long before they'd be packaged because I rather have one of those than the ones already in the warm rack. He asked which one I wanted and boxed it immediately. I went into Smart and final twice today to get some specialty rolls that are really good. The first time I went in the line was from the cashier to the beer to the milk and back across the back of the store and they only had two cashiers working. The second time, on the same day, I went in it was the same thing only four hours later. I have lived in Tierrasanta 35 years and since Smart and Final came to Tierrasanta they have never had more than two cashiers working at one time regardless how busy the store is. It is the day before a holiday, and I would think that they would know if it's that busy in the morning that it's going to be that busy in the afternoon and get more cashiers. I go back over to see if I was looking in the wrong place. No say 2.99 so I ask the lady why charging me 3.99. She says you have to buy four of them it in the small print if you read under the price. I don't remember her name, it was some stocky woman with a blond ponytail and glasses(looked like Gayle from bob's burgers). She tried to make me look directly into her eyes when checking my ID, it made me very uncomfortable (I'm in my thirties). I guess she was offended by it because when handing my ID she snatched it back waving it around, mocking me in front of the other customers before giving it back. I've been shopping here since April 2017 when my family and I moved into the military housing near by. Not once have I ever had a problem until today. I dropped my son off at speech which he goes for 1 hour I had some time to spare and shopped in Smart N Final like I do weekly. However today when I go in with my two year old daughter and two Large EMPTY bags. I decide I can find everything that I'm looking for dinner at the Asian market. So I don't buy anything. I walk oUt with my daughter and two bags. I am at the left entrance putting the cart back and an employee runs after me. As I'm standing there looks at my basket then says "OH YOU'RE GOOD" then walks in as I'm standing there confused. Then she says to a man(customer) that's walking out aNd says "she only had bags in her Cart" then the man says "oh okay" So tell me this Smart N Final is it required that we buy sOmething in your store and if we DON'T we will get chased out and accused of stealing!!! Health Concerns Purchased some Hummus from this store today to find at home that the sanitary seal had been removed from the tub and them put back in place. This is a health concern. I attempted to return the Hummus, but their current Manager's policy is to not allow any returns, because "It's a National Emergency". Buyer beware! read more
