Conveniently located in the heart of Tierrasanta, near the I-15 and by other businesses. This Smart and Final is a solid one-stop shop with plenty of parking (that's a plus!). It was my first time here with my co-worker and was pleasantly surprised. The store was clean, well-organized, and not too crowded for a Wednesday afternoon. Customer service was friendly and helpful. One employee assisted us in locating a product, and our cashier was very pleasant. Even with just two lanes open, the checkout line was quick - WOOT! We ended up filling two whole carts for our department function and found everything we needed. I especially liked their selection of bulk items - it gave me a mini-Costco vibe without the overwhelming crowds. Quick vegan finds: 1. Grains, pantry staples like rice, beans, oats, pasta 2. Canned and jarred goods like veggies, sauces, tomatoes 3. Frozen fruits/veggies like berries, peas, stir-fry 4. Plant-based snacks - chips, nuts, popcorn, crackers 5. Beverages - juice, coffee, tea, sparkling water, plant-based milks 6. Baking essentials - flour, sugar, baking soda, cocoa powder 7. Condiments - ketchup, mustard, salsa, hot sauce, vegan-friendly dressings 8. Paper goods/cleaning supplies - paper towels, dish soap, laundry detergent We were on a time crunch, so I didn't get to explore the produce section as I originally planned. I definitely need to come back. I had read some mixed reviews about the customer service here, but my experience was great from start to finish. Smart and Final did not disappoint. read more

On Wednesday, 05/27/2026 at approximately 8:30 AM, I went to the S&F store in Tierrasanta. I noticed that there was a large garbage bin full of parsley with very few yellow leaves, but overall in good condition. I asked the produce person and the sales clerk if I would be able to take them since I had fostered small animals for an organization. The manager at that moment arrived to instruct me that all produce in the garbage bin was not to be taken since it was a liability. I explained the organization I was with and still refused stating that all this produce goes to a processing plant for disposal. He could have just said "recycling." My question is: If this manager was so concerned about "liability" then why have I seen produce bags for 99 cents sold that were molding. I go to the S&F everyday or every other day and I see potatoes that are sprouting or discolored with green and that makes them toxic. I also see bell peppers, cucumbers, and cactus leaves with mold. All this being sold to the public. The manager should also check the produce in the regular shelfs because some produce needs to be pulled for wilting and discoloration. Yet it is still there days later rotting and a "liability." I shop at S&F for the great prices and also the produce on sale like 99 cents but much of it needs to be pulled. The parsley he was throwing away looked better than the parsley on the shelfs. Why doesn't S&F allow for sanctuaries that have small rabbits, hamsters, guinea pigs, etc. have the produce? I know Pavilions donates very good produce and bread to organizations that feed the homeless. This manager was extremely harsh and rude. read more

This location is storing your gallon water in direct sunlight outside the back of the store. while not illegal poses significant health risk. Chemical leaching: The heat and ultraviolet (UV) radiation from the sun can break down the polyethylene terephthalate (PET) plastic used for most single-use bottles. This can cause trace amounts of chemicals, such as antimony and volatile organic compounds (VOCs), to leach into the water over time. While the health risk from short-term exposure is considered minimal, prolonged exposure is potentially harmful. Contamination and bacteria: Once a bottle has been opened, the combination of heat and any bacteria introduced from a person's mouth or the air can create a breeding ground for microorganisms. This can lead to the growth of bacteria that may cause gastrointestinal issues. Altered taste and odor: Even without harmful contamination, direct sunlight can cause the water to develop a noticeable plastic-like taste or odor, which compromises the quality of the product. read more

Clean store and the prices are reasonable. There was only one cashier open today and the line was long. The cashier was judgy and not nice when I questioned the charge was off from the tag. The cupcake trays w/a round middle cake were all $12.99, but he acted like I was lying to him. He had to call the bakery to tell them that it was mispriced. All of the other round cupcake trays was priced the same. Didn't need his attitude. read more

With the exception of MICHELLE who had a very pleasant demeanor and assisted me in trying to navigate the digital coupons ( SHE IS WONDERFUL) OTHERWISE, the 2 other cashiers were useless and one older guy with a pony tail was trying to show his "self- importance." I was told that HE COULD HAVE EASILY HELPED ME with the issue I was having!!! So...5 Stars For Michelle and none for that guy!!! read more

202510xx I've been shopping at S&F Tierrasanta since they opened. I used to think their sushi deli products were reasonably priced, but not anymore. Portions appear smaller (I thought they used to be thicker), regardless of weight on label. They tout half-price sushi on Fridays. What I noticed about the one I bought was that the sushi was half the normal packaging(!), so half-price? Not a bargain, not a good deal. The insult is S&F assuming customers don't notice these marketing tactics. read more

Honestly, this place continues to surprise me! They have a great selection of produce and I can always count on smart and final to have products that vons/Ralph's are out of! This store is usually fairly organized. Not too cluttered! The cashiers are usually friendly and helpful! On thanksgiving the cashier even helped me by recommending a turkey that was on better sale than the one I had grabbed! Very helpful! read more

Horrible experience with online delivery order. I placed my order back on 11/10/23 and still waiting for a resolution. My order was left at the wrong location. As soon as the driver sent me a confirmation of my delivery, I notified him immediately that it was not my house. He responded that's where the app took him. I confirmed my address, which was noted correctly on my order. His response: That's odd idk why it would do such a thing :/ makes for unnecessary problems. I never heard from him again. I took the photo he sent and went in search of my order. To add insult to injury, he purchased the wrong items. There was no receipt with the delivery. I tried the 800 number on the website and got a disconnected recording. I emailed S&F, and they sent me a case number. The following day, I received a digital copy of my receipt. I noted there was a Rockstar energy drink purchased on my order. I did not order this item. So, onto of the 10% tip, the driver purchased an item that was charged under my order. I'm still trying to get my order corrected or refunded a week later! I received a response from S&F yesterday stating they processed a refund of $7.28!!!!!! read more

I don't know what's is going on with the Smart & Final's employees Tierrasanta, but if you want poor customer service, and deal with rude employees, come to this store. These employees are NEEEEVER in good mood, they don't even say good morning or hi back to you, it is almost an inconvenience for them just to look at you when you are paying your stuff. I mean, I am not asking to be hugged, and be cuddled every time I go, but can these people just...smile once in a while? Is it too much? That's why I always avoid this store and prefer to go to Vons Tierrasanta no matter if I have to drive a little more. The only advantage Smart and Final has over Vons Tierrasanta is the size of some products (bigger), but that's it. I prefer to deal with smaller product sizes than rude employees any day. Smart & Final has the worst customer service I ever experience in any store. read more

I went yesterday, Wed 6/5 around 3 pm. One regular register open (and one for less than 10 items). Had a lot of items, so went to regular one. Cashiers are always very rude there. This guy had hoodie (tan) up, long messy hair hanging out, grunted comments.. Then I'm outside leaving and a guy in all black, stocky, (Hispanic?), shaved head, coming into work I guess, said very rudely "that's why we offer cart to car service". I had used a riding cart and left it by my car. I'm disabled, and didn't appreciate him being so rude. I'll go to Santee from now on, I only go there for a few specific items and tired of employees being so rude and miserable. read more

The worst produce selection in the whole world. everything has mold growing on it and or is wilted. The customer service is terrible. Every time i come in Michelle has a terrible unfriendly demeanor about her. If you're having a bad day and or frustrated find a better way to express your emotions... she's so quick to greet the old white woman in front of me and wish her a happy holidays but couldn't even acknowledge me and say hello or how are you .... very unprofessional. Only come here if there's absolutely no other choice. read more

Love the great selection here. I needed a ton of Thanksgiving and Christmas holiday things and they had everything I wanted plus more that I didn't even realize they carried. I'm so happy to have found this store having moved from Northern California to San Diego recently. I will shop here quite often. read more

This is a great Smart & Final location. It's in the heart of Tierrasanta and there is plenty of parking. They offer a nice produce section and usually have everything I come for. The store is always clean and well stocked. The employees are always friendly. This is one of my favorite Smart & Final locations. read more

Worst customer service. I went into a different store to buy something and went to Smart and Final to get something really quick. Disclosed and clearly displayed I bought the item that Smart and Final doesn't even have in inventory at a different store at check out. Was immediately questioned, with even a manager being called. Embarrassing experience at check out, won't be going back. read more

Honestly I did not plan to like this store. As a community we were hoping for a Gelson's. Or if that wouldn't work out, a Trader Joe's. However, this store has been a pleasant surprise. Extremely helpful employees. Beautiful fresh produce. And, my favorite. A fresh sushi chef that has actually influenced other nearby chains to add a similar offering to their stores. The TierraSanta location, and perhaps other S&F locations, have contracted to bring in traditionally trained Japanese sushi chefs. The result is fresh, local, priced right and excellent. They generally have an excellent selection of wine at this store and both their wine and liquor prices are very comparable to Costco's ... without the trip and parking issues. Their rotisserie chicken also gives the famous Costco birds a run for the money in flavor, size and price! Enjoy... read more

Tierrasanta is top on my list, this location offers better produce variety and friendly costumer serice. The Clairemont, La Mesa, City heights and Poway locations are a hot mess. read more

Nice new Smart and Final. I stopped in after having lunch nearby to pick up some fruits and vegetables. They produce department was located right as I walked in to the right so, everything I needed was right there. Prices were pretty good too and the department was well stocked and organized. While I was browsing, several of the employees asked if I need help finding something, which was nice because usually being ignored is usually the case at other stores. I was also pleased that they offer a really nice selection of Organic produce. I picked up some good looking Gala apples for .99 lbs, some organic mangoes for $1.49 each, a half dozen of bananas, and some organic Yukon Gold Potatoes for $1.39 lbs. Curious, I also picked up a box of White Tea they had on sale for $2.79. All in all, it was a good visit. I found what I needed readily, prices were fair, and service was helpful and friendly. read more

I like this grocery store but they are often missing items that I need, simple items like granola bars I like etc. The lines are also so long no matter what time of day I go to this store. Only 2 lanes open max. Needs an express checkout read more

By far the WORST produce selection I have ever seen at a grocery store. All of the lettuce was completely wilted. Literally every bundle of "fresh" spinach was brown. All of the apples were bruised, onions were moldy..etc..usually I have no issues with produce at these stores but this was unacceptable! read more

Wow this place completely horrible with. 0 ethics 0 morals to sell items that are long expired on the shelves mainly aimed at kids. Management is less than professional. I went into Smart, & Final Tierrasanta 1/3/23 9am ish. I walked in looking for blood oranges. The veg/fruit was empty. A lot of their items were not available. I walked pass(meat area) two mangers talking. I noticed when I passed by he started following me. I kept shopping. Went by the dairy he showed up acting as if he was "facing" an item. I am a athletic coach at a nearby high school. Plus I had on my school jacket plus I had my arm(right) in a sling. I went down the aisle that he was in and not was requiring "facing". I went to a register where he followed me with a can of mix nuts in his hands. If there is a high theft in the store your way of policing will get a non positive response. Take more courses on security. read more

I usually come here every once in a while for alcohol runs. It's decently priced. I honestly have to say that the staff here are what makes this store! The workers are hospitable, go out of their way to help customers and always have a great positive attitude and big smiles. I don't really understand how someone could give Simone a bad review i just needed to come on here and say nuh uh that's not true. Simone has to be the nicest person in that store, every time i come in shopping for whatever it may be Simone will ask about how im doing and be so nurturing and kindhearted and she's just wonderful person to come in and see. It's part of the SmartandFinal experience coming and getting Simone to check out my when i'm done shopping. read more

The Cashier, Simone, was very rude. The item I bought had a price on the package of $5.39. It rang up $5.99. I pointed the discrepancy out to her and she acted like she didn't understand. I said it rang up more than the price on the package. She sighed and tried several times to adjust the price, finally succeeding without a word to me. She handed me the receipt, pushed my food toward me l, turned away and didn't say one word. I wasn't trying to get a deal, just pay the price on the package. read more

I like this store as it's not as crowded as other markets. However, on 9/9 while shopping there one cashier was not wearing a mask & the other was wearing it below her nose. (Most of the viral loads are in the nasal passage). This store is next to a senior apt. complex where seniors shop for groceries. The staff should mask up to protect their customers. If mgmt isn't going to stay on top of this then it will be a long time before I shop there again! I can easily drive elsewhere. read more

Do not go here for ground beef. This is the second time my meals have tasted rotten. I never had this issue at Vons. I also had a rotten macaroni precooked from this place before. They are not refrigerating the food correctly or the food is expired. read more

While the store doesn't have as low on prices than other grocery stores, it does have decent sale items. The tip is read the entire sale label, e.g. $2.99 only if you buy 2 else it's the regular price of $4.99. They do seem to fall short on cashier lines even at low peak time, but I've not had to wait too long. The produce seem very fresh with a larger selection of organic choices than I've seen at other places. I think small touches such as friendlier greetings and customer acknowledgment may gain more positive customer satisfaction. However I will say I have not had a bad experience. Yesterday I observed the rotisserie chicken taken right out of the oven. It smelled soooo delicious. I asked the chef how long before they'd be packaged because I rather have one of those than the ones already in the warm rack. He asked which one I wanted and boxed it immediately. I thought that was an excellent show of customer service. read more

I went into Smart and final twice today to get some specialty rolls that are really good. The first time I went in the line was from the cashier to the beer to the milk and back across the back of the store and they only had two cashiers working. The second time, on the same day, I went in it was the same thing only four hours later. I have lived in Tierrasanta 35 years and since Smart and Final came to Tierrasanta they have never had more than two cashiers working at one time regardless how busy the store is. It is the day before a holiday, and I would think that they would know if it's that busy in the morning that it's going to be that busy in the afternoon and get more cashiers. Again, I walked out without making my purchase. read more

It amazes me people go to a store that tries to rip you off all the time. Went in and saw some ice cream to 2.99 normally 4.99. Great deal so I get it and end up getting charged 3.99. I go back over to see if I was looking in the wrong place. No say 2.99 so I ask the lady why charging me 3.99. She says you have to buy four of them it in the small print if you read under the price. Do they have to try and trick you or rip you off in your own neighborhood store. That's pretty pathetic. I'll put the picture in the photo spot read more

I am a little confused on who is running the store. Molded cheese on the shelf! The inspectors really need to take a look at this place. Giving two stars because I felt guilty giving only one star. I will never understand why this store is in our community. It's not a good fit. The produce is awful. And again I must say there is no butcher there is no bakery. Why would a family living in Tierrasanta have a need for bulk restaurant supplies? The store smells and too often food is expired. Please bring back Albertsons (yes I know there are issues regarding this). I still miss my regular checkers and butchers and bakers. read more

I don't remember her name, it was some stocky woman with a blond ponytail and glasses(looked like Gayle from bob's burgers). She tried to make me look directly into her eyes when checking my ID, it made me very uncomfortable (I'm in my thirties). I guess she was offended by it because when handing my ID she snatched it back waving it around, mocking me in front of the other customers before giving it back. Another day I return and she stared and smirked waiting for me to acknowledge her before scanning my items. Recently she stared right at me from across the store. Anyway, this store has the cheapest red lentils in Tierrasanta. read more

I've been shopping here since April 2017 when my family and I moved into the military housing near by. Not once have I ever had a problem until today. I dropped my son off at speech which he goes for 1 hour I had some time to spare and shopped in Smart N Final like I do weekly. However today when I go in with my two year old daughter and two Large EMPTY bags. I decide I can find everything that I'm looking for dinner at the Asian market. So I don't buy anything. I walk oUt with my daughter and two bags. I am at the left entrance putting the cart back and an employee runs after me. As I'm standing there looks at my basket then says "OH YOU'RE GOOD" then walks in as I'm standing there confused. Then she says to a man(customer) that's walking out aNd says "she only had bags in her Cart" then the man says "oh okay" So tell me this Smart N Final is it required that we buy sOmething in your store and if we DON'T we will get chased out and accused of stealing!!! Horrible store with poor products, little selection, and bad service. I was not happy from the beginning when I learned that smart and final would be replacing the Hagen in Tierrasanta. Although I did not like Hagen it was leaps and bounds better than this. Virtually no healthy choices- this store is full of big box junk. Worst quality and no variety. The staff is not knowledgable and do not seem to know how to do their jobs. On the three occasions I attempted to give this store a chance each cashier I had could not figure out their register. The last time I went the person ringing me up spent almost 10 min trying to figure out how to undo a botched transaction. Not the type of store we want or need in our neighborhood. I am hoping that it will go out of business here and we can have a trader joes or sprouts. So disappointing. read more
