He went to walk out of the secured area to get other items and was stopped by the Ralph's employee stating he had to pay before leaving that area. Today, I went into that Ralph's, white woman, dressed confidently, to purchase an item in that same area. I smiled and walked out without paying and moved on to get my other items I needed to purchase. Sad we still live in a world where we classify someone by the way they look! Doesn't the Bible state we are to love "all" people. I know it is a business but then treat everyone the same way!

The produce and hot food have always been good, but the customer service is a different story. The employees often seem unhappy rude and uninterested, which makes the shopping experience unpleasant. On top of that, the new self-checkout machines are not my favorite. I understand they're trying to cut labor costs, but it doesn't make things easier for customers--especially when there's only one cashier available and you're basically forced to use self-checkout. Last week, I used the self-checkout, and when I scanned my bolillo, the machine kept stopping. The cashier came over and began inspecting my bag like I had done something wrong. I then said, "I know how to count," because I felt that frustrated. Honestly, I've never felt so disrespected while shopping. If you're going to have self-checkout machines, don't treat your customers like they're doing something wrong. It really takes away from the overall experience.

This place is great for grocery shopping but their restroom is UNSAFE for children! I was at Smart and Final with my kids and my little girl needed to use the unisex restroom. A staff opened the door for my little girl to go in but there was a man in there!!!! Thank God I did not let her go in by herself! Who knows that man might be a sex offender! Never did he look tired or out of place. He was extremely quick and knowledgeable with all the questions I had. He was extremely careful with my groceries because I had a lot of fragile products too. I'm so appreciative because I was trying to make Christmas snacks and any crushed items would not be presentable. Thank you Hector! Michael, the manager is also very sincere.
