2/1/25 Looking for Ben & Jerry's scoop-Appaloosa ice cream & ended up here, nope, none, just the regular kind. It didn't specify on Yelp that it's a "neighborhood" Food For Less, if it did, we wouldn't have gone because I knew it would be limited. Went in anyway, It's like any FFL, prices are fair, definitely less than Albertsons, Ralph's or Stater Brothers, that is very much so. Staff are somewhat cordial. The checker greeted me half heartedly but she's not rude, could be friendlier. I didn't visit any department besides the ice cream aisle but everything seemed copacetic. There was one long line when i started (about 8-10 people) and it took roughly 5 minutes for the other 2 check stands to open up, not bad. From what I saw (limited). the store looked clean & organized. Everything in its place. Parking is plentiful. If I need to return, I wouldn't mind going back, but it's not my go to market read more

So o really don't understand why people hate their jobs. If you choose to work in a place where you need to come in contact with people, why are you so rude. I walked in to just get bay leaves. The sign clearly said 1.99. It rang up different and I told her it said a different price. She gave me attitude and rolled her eyes. The delivery is a lot slower than they first tell you when you use instacart but the food was as shown. Delivery people were very nice and shoppers were nice and cooperative but I like to have quick delivery as shown when you begin to shop;. read more

Food 4 less is a subsidiary of Kroger, if you're not familiar with them they are also sister companies with Ralphs. Food 4 less has and will always been in underprivileged areas. Nothing about the areas but back in the day they had what they called food deserts, where it was hard for people to get fresh produce unless it was a neighborhood market or liquor store. I believe Kroger wanted to give people the opportunity to shop for fresh and healthy food making it available to anyone and everyone. In this case, the prices at food 4 less is about 20-30% cheaper than Ralphs which is about 5 miles down the street on Archibald. This particular store is always clean and the customer service superb (Thank you Lisette, Rosie, Christine O. and Michael) Sometimes the lines can be rather long but its well worth the wait for the prices. I'm not sure why people get so upset. You walk in here knowing what to expect... just remember to be kind and everyone working there is trying their best. read more

I purchased a watermelon. When I came home and cut into it, it was overripe to the point of being spoiled. I called the store immediately to inquire about a refund. I was told I needed to bring it back along with the receipt. I have the receipt. This is a store that I visit twice a month. There is no way I'm keeping this rotting melon in my fridge until my next visit. 5 dollars wasted. But, 5 dollars well spent. I won't be shopping there again. read more

Today, Tuesday August 19, 2025 around 7:30pm I arrived at the store with a bag of dog food that smelled bad and I was trying to get a refund or store credit to purchase a different product. This was an almost $26 bag of dog food. I had my receipt with me and I spoke with an employee asking to get a refund but the employee told me there was no manager and that I needed to come back a different day to speak with a manager and then she mentioned that he was on his lunch so I waited for the managers lunch to finish and when I spoke with him I told him why I wanted to get a refund or at least store credit and he told me I could not get either. This manager had a lot of attitude and he was very rude and disrespectful! I've worked for a grocery store before and this is absolutely not how you treat customers. This could have been a simple return or a simple exchange especially because I had my receipt but he chose to upset his customer instead. The managers name is Erick, I saw his name tag. I don't understand why he did not want to do the refund or exchange he just kept saying he wouldn't do it. Train your "managers" to do better and to make sure they satisfy your customers because I left feeling awful and unsatisfied. read more

I was in the area yesterday and i stopped by, what a big mistake, I bought some raspberries and this morning I noticed the whole damn container was moldy not fair I spent $3 bucks for something that went straight to the trash and sadly no fruit for my sons lunch, it pisses me off because food is expensive and buying something like that makes me even more upset money down the drain for me, my mistake for not opening and checking my fruit before hand, but why isn't the store doing their job so we don't buy moldy or expired shit. read more

My husband went to this store 2 weeks ago and dropped his wallet before paying the counter but he did noticed that the old lady was behind him and curiously looking but didn't say anything anything. And so my husband went back to the parking and realized that it was inside the cashier where he dropped his wallet so went ahead to see the Manager and good enough he then returned my husband wallet and without the cash money of $800 inside the wallet so my husband asked the manager if there's any cameras and stated " none" and was not even helpful and didn't say much to him . I felt so bad for my husband since that cash money is supposed to go to the bank for selling his old fishing rod since he is currently out of work. So whoever took that cash money if it was the old Lady or the manager it will bring a good cause and helpful. I told my husband not to go to this store any more just to Learned his lesson that not all people are kind and compassion enough to help human beings I'm so disappointed and disgusting to this store . Very good store! Has been here for a while and compared to the other stores they still have better prices! They have a bakery, deli, meat counter and everything you need very large store with lots of good sales. They're understaffed but do their best with what they've got. I really like this Food 4 Less! It really caters to the city! The people here are very helpful! I was looking for a variety Pack of nuts and the worker there showed me every aisle where they would be! He even asked me if I needed help looking for anything else while he was still there. Hey, like to share this wit all of you, just to watch out, no b/s, I mention how my experience went when I/we stopped by to buy some pork neck bone for our Pozole, well we or the wife cooked this on New Years eve, she is 56yo and can cook,,,and not the first time she makes Pozole, we actually make it about 4-5 per year, anyway, she started getting everything ready for cooking this, she had the neck bone in the sink and she call me to take a look at, and told me to take a sniff, she mention it kind of smelled funny, but since she was washing this on the sink, I tough it was the sink drain, that smelled kind of bad, so I told her it was the drain,,,well not sure wtf, happen, she cooked this and we all eat it on the evening, but for the next day, when she was warming it up,,it really smelled funny, well we eat it again, and nothing happen, but by the nigh time, one of the boys started to heat it up and it really smelled bad,,,it actually went bad on us,,,maybe 1/3 the pot or a bit less, we share this with a family member at a different house, and she got sick as hell, not sure why, or if this had anything to do it,,,thank God, none of us got sick, but this is the 2nd time this has happen to us, first time was the same, I swear to God,,,same food and same cut,,but this time from another market "El Super" in Ontario off of Mountain....and that's the reason why we stop going there....keep in mind that this is not the first time we cook this, and take the precautions to keep it in the fridge once cooled, but funny another thing, one of my relatives friend, claims her Pozole went bad the day after making, not sure if she went to the same store as we did.....did not go back to the store, cause I'm not that way, I hate going back for crap like this.... has this happen to any one?? read more

This is a review of my first experience with this grocery chain and is in regard to the meat department at the Ontario location. I saw an advertisement for wild Atlantic Salmon for 3.99/lb and I planned to get a workout by cycling to the nearest location, which was this store. It was a good ride and when I got there, they did not have any of the product. Bummer. I went to the register and got a raincheck for 10 lbs of the item. I happened to be passing through the area a week later, went inside and they still didn't have any. I was told to call the Martin in the meat department in a few days. I called Martin and he said he was out of it, told me to call back in about a week. I did, and he told me they didn't have any, that they needed to re-order the product. I was told to call back in a week. Another week goes by and I speak to Guy. He was friendly, helpful, compassionate and made an attempt to get to the bottom of this ridiculous ordeal. Martin comes on the phone and tells me that it's over. Their supplier is not getting anymore and they won't ever get the item again..... No salmon, no apology, no sympathy, no nothin! Horrible customer service.i had a manufacture coupon for formula and they questioned it, which is understandable. A pm shift manager was brought to the front and she did not give me a clear reason they could not except it although it was a manufacture coupon. I explained to her that I had used the coupon in Albertsons with no problem and she said "well you can go back to Albertsons" she was very rude and unprofessional. I continued with my purchase because I was already done w my order but it was horrible. I will Not be returning there. Customer service is obviously not a top priority in this location. The manager needs more customer service training seeing as she was not professional and had a bad attitude. I usually do not shop at FOOD 4 LESS markets due to quality, I normally shop at Albertsons and Ralph's and now I recall why. read more

As I was shopping today I observed a homeless lady in the store today . She was doing no harm to anyone , she may not have been as clean as others in the store due to her circumstances however she was still a paying customer . She asked me a question while I was looking at produce and I kindly answered her as anyone should have and went about with my shopping . As I was in line to pay the cashier had her two way radio on very high and another associate said LOUD AND CLEAR on the radio " there's a homeless lady coming up front with a shopping cart that smells really bad " ... At that moment it was very hard to not act like a " KAREN" however I do believe radio etiquette is one thing that can be controlled and should be in a work environment , shortly after another inappropriate comment was made on the radio about this individual again . I do hope that the manager or whoever is in charge of this building can teach their associates about humanity , sensitivity and customer service for all guests instead of judging and ridiculing it's customers with judgement that is inappropriate . Maybe they should focus on cleaning up their dirty store and keeping it COVID STANDARD SAFE through cleanliness instead of focusing on the unnecessary that they still made a sale on ! Great store. 80% of staff is friendly. I'm a regular. Live a block away so Grocery Outlet and this Store are my go-to. Reason for taking a star away on this review... Coke Zero 2 liter bottles are never in stock/hardly in stock when there's a sale promotion (88 cents each or 99 cents each). I'm not diabetic. I just drink the soda because if I continue to drink regular Coke according to my doctor I will become diabetic. Anyways, I understand this is an issue with the vendor. I worked for two supermarkets before. Usually when a customer or customers make complaints about a vendor item being out of stock... we'd contact the vendor, and you know...ask to please stock more of said product in demand. I'm guessing from other reviews on this same topic that the coke vendor might be hard to deal with? or management doesn't care? I don't know just assuming. read more

The lines at this store every single time we go are RIDICULOUS. The cashiers do not call for back up when their lines are backed up. You have to ask for a manager and they take their time. I will call the store from the line after 20 minutes only to be hung up on. Today I told my sons to go to Stater Bros and they made the huge mistake of going to this store. They stood in line FOREVER. If you go to this store make sure you have plenty of time to WAIT IN LINE. PS- there don't have to be a lot of people. You will wait in line even if the traffic is low. Visited store last night and saw they Haden sale plastic bottles of soda for $2.49 a 6pk decided to buy a few since they where fully stocked read their sign which said must buy 4 or more to get discount . After waiting 20 min in line the cashier seemed to be pissed of cause I had about 12 different variety pks and calls other cashier and says we still have a limit on sodas right ? Then tells me it's only 4 total I could buy I said that's bullshit . As I walked to my car I saw a man with 8 pks and a young couple with about 12 pks of soda so that's some messed up policy they choose to be unfair to who they decide ...? read more

Bought sour cream twice, 2 different brands and each time they were bad. The 1st time it was Knudsen, normally a good brand, and it was frozen! The 2nd time I bought the Kroger brand and I know it was frozen and thawed because it was unusually sour and grainy. While sour cream can be frozen, it's not recommended because it loses it freshness and changes texture. A grocery store should know that selling something less than than fresh is bad for business. They should call themselves "Food Less than Fresh." read more

AND in the midst of all this, another customer asked me for help to translate because he only spoke Spanish and apparently the same cashier charged him for an item he didn't even buy. I've lived down the street from this store for over 15 years. Although it is one of the most convenient grocery store locations in the area for me, I generally avoided it for years because I was put off by the usually rather congested parking lot, and even more so by the somewhat ghetto appearance of the shopping center and of this store. (I used to refer to this as "our local south-central Food 4 Less"). Indeed, sometimes you have to deal with people randomly selling things and aggressive panhandlers to get into the store. However, I have come to appreciate that we still have a Food 4 Less location in our neighborhood. Many of their locations have closed, and they do indeed generally have some of the best prices around on groceries. (for example, their prices on fresh fruit put their competition to shame). This location is well-stocked with fresh food, well organized and service is generally pretty good. For the last few years I have started to move towards doing more of my shopping here. I now do about half of my grocery shopping here, and I generally stop here almost every week. I consider this store an asset to the neighborhood, I am definitely thankful for them, and I support this business. read more

Ok so we go grocery shopping on Friday or Saturday nights, we have been doing so regularly for some time. One of the reasons we shop at food 4 less is the deli... It is advertised as being open until 10pm, so why is it that the last 5 times we have been there they have consistently closed the deli 15 minutes earlier than the last time. Today was crazy... it was 9 and it was closed. REALLY. Spoke to Manny the assistant manager supposedly and he said that it was up to Daniel the guy at the meat counter and he said that deli only means the salads... I guess the rest of the nation has it wrong... why advertise 10 pm if you really mean 9 but wait that would mean 8 pm. read more

Went in to buy a case of monsters and power aid which is in the weekly add. Yet again no diet is available but there is a grip of everything else as well as no cases of diet aka no sugar monsters available. Which in reguards to the store manager i have brought it to his attention before the lack of sugar free items in this store. My husband being a diabetic for more than 28 years now feels again let down by this food 4 less. We grabbed a case of another type of diet monsters because it is all they had available At the register the clerk said she has to ring them up 1 by 1 making it over $40.00 a case compared to the 31.99 a case advertised on the shelf. I asked Lizette who is a blue shirt. This is not a supervisor but none the less in charge when a superviser is not available. I asked her do u know carry items for all your customers in this case meaning diabetic. She gave me a dirty look and in a rude voice said" i guess not then do we. "Wow really i hope you never get to supervisor liz you dont have a ounce of knowledge what is customer service. This was at 730pm Monday night 03/20/2017. Liz is a lead for the evening and running one of the only 2 lanes open in a extremely busy store with a less than desired customer service approach. Also no utility clerks available to help customers on the floor to be found. Next time we will go to Stater Brothers or Albertsons i would rather pay more for qualiity customer service and professional associates. read more
