A long time ago, I regularly bought and brewed specialty coffee from a great local coffee shop. For years, it was my go-to source for excellent beans. Then the shop changed hands a couple of times, and the current owner shifted the vibe to more of a hipster café than a serious coffee destination. The place was genuinely outstanding in its prime... I still miss it. When I lost my source for those beans, desperate times called for desperate measures. Eventually, I discovered that the shop had been getting its coffee from Gavina, a wholesale roaster that sells the same beans under the retail brand Don Francisco's. It's the exact same coffee. I've been happily grinding and brewing it at home ever since. At around $24.99 for a 32 oz bag (roughly $12 per pound), the price is solid for the quality. You can find it at just about every Smart & Final. The store itself has a similar feel--lots of bulk foods and a no-frills shopping experience. The only downside is that they can get understaffed during busy times. I've been stuck in checkout lines more than once with only one or two registers open. read more

This store was a solid 3 1/2 stars but I can't half stars so I upped it to 4 stars.. I don't shop at Smart and Final very often but when I do, I like this location as the "extra" means (at least to me) a better selection of things I may buy. Their philosophy is it's like a club store without the card and it's a place where you can buy your regular groceries. Today I was looking for some bulk pack sized items that were not normally found at the regular markets and sometimes the size (number of cans etc) is different than Sam's or Costco . The store wasn't too crowded, and was clean, well lit and organized. I purchased most of the items I needed, but could not find some items. Price wise, cheaper than main stream markets, but perhaps not as cheap as Costco or Sam's. (It was hard to compare apples to apples so to speak due to packaging differences). While I didn't buy any produce, the displays were were very attractive and seemed to have a good selection. All in all, worth a trip once in awhile. read more

I was coming to this store daily for the seniors in my community that don't drive very pleasant. I was sick myself once and was in bad shape just got outta of the hospital and the cashier Susan awesome person help me to my car with my groceries that kinda kindness you don't forget that's why a continue to shop and support that store. But on memorial Day. Dealing with grief and a lot of other ladies in my neighborhood who lost husbands and children in service to the military. I'm shopping in stores for others and myself the big lady butcher, followed me around the store while shopping and before I I could even finish checking out and get last minute calls from people I was shopping for very aggressive rude butcher started talking loudly asking me about meat for one of the ladies I was shopping for accuse me of shoplifting. Grabbed my purse and personal belongings. Very racist nasty Woman I was shocked and Got home and told my neighbors and they called on the phone and asked for the manager Sira and was told she was on a break. This store always has fresh produce, food and shelve items. The service is always amicable, and the ambiance is always cool and relaxing. I visit this location about 2-3 times per week. Today Leo went above and beyond his duties to make sure I left happy. He helped solve and assist not just his customers but mine. As a small business owner, not finding the product needed can sometimes be frustrating. Today I needed product and to break some bills into $5 and $1's. Thank you Leo. You saved the day! Went to look around for the first time. It is about 2/3 the size of a Smith's or Albertsons so they don't have quite as much variety. The prices are comparable. One thing they have is the option to buy many of their items in bulk similar to that of Sam's Club or Costco. The plus here is there is no membership fee required. We come to this Smart & Final store on occasion to pick up items that we can't find elsewhere. And this specific store because it's the closest to where we live. Today we needed some eight and twelve once plastic cups and lids and dropped by to stock up. Not even Costco has these plastic cups with lids, which surprises me. For oddball kinds of things, Smart & Final is a phenomenal place to find them. This Smart & Final is pleasantly clean and neat. The shelves are always tightly packed and loaded with merchandise, even more than at local markets like Vons, Smiths, or Albertsons. The prices here are very competitive and even beat Costco on occasion. And best of all, there is never a crowd or long wait in line at this store. If there were more Smart & Final stores throughout Las Vegas, I might do a lot more marketing here instead of Smiths and Costco, where we generally do bulk shopping. If I had one suggestion for Smart & Final, it would be to train your people to be a little more friendly and courteous, since on occasion the staff here are a bit on the grumpy side and don't seem pleased to help customers. We just went into S&F on Sahara because they're the only ones who had a 32 oz. jar of herring. Well, it was more shocking than any place we've been in since the virus outbreak began. Not only were none of the clerks wearing masks, but talking at the counters like an ordinary day. And to make matters worse, 80% of the people in that store had no masks & no gloves on. Then we noticed out at the car that 8 people arriving had none either. You're supposed to stay 6' away from each other, but that was a joke. This store should be reported to the health dept. And ALL employees & customers should need gloves & masks. They have other stores around town also & spreading the virus so blatantly. read more

Scored paper products here many times when NOBODY else in town had anything on their shelves. $25 a bottle Justin Paso Robles 2016 cabernet? check !! cleaning products nobody else had and a surprisingly strong grocery selection to boot. Can't say enough about this store/location. Stopped going to the Smiths 100 yards away cuz S+F had me covered every time. My husband and I come to this store weekly because they have the best fresh produce at the best prices. We had a couple unfortunate encounters with staff. One when the pandemic scare first started, an employee yelled at my husband (who frequents there more than me and knows the staff/talks with them) about him needing a mask. I was pissed for her tone of voice. The second incident my husband needed more cucumbers (there were 2 on the shelf) so he asked if someone could get more in the back and for 5 minutes the staff attempted to lie about their "shipments" and avoid this task. Finally one of them said I'll go check and she came back with an entire case. Aside from this, we do enjoy shopping here. Prices and selections are good. Staff overall is nice. read more

Am I missing something? In CA, this chain had competitive prices. This location? Even the sale prices strike me as high- 2/$9 cases of water, $3 day old pastries, $4/2 pack of toilet cleaner, $5/2 dozen eggs? And the price tags listing a "regular" and "sale" price were both higher than average when compared to regular stores. Didn't see enough bulk-size or multipack purchase options available to justify coming here over their regular grocery counterparts. At least in CA, pricing and product make the comparisons to Costco/Sams Club reasonable. Not here. read more

This store is amazing. Not only for all of your bulk shopping needs but your daily shopping needs as well. They have the best deals and don't know if people realize how much money they could be saving by shopping here. They have a great selection of produce and wide variety of other items, including their meat selection, seasoned or unseasoned. The store is SO organized and clean and the staff is helpful when they are available. Will definitely be coming here more and more for all of my shopping needs. I quit shopping at S&F (one star penalty) all because of sourdough bread. They replaced the good sourdough with Wonderbread in a package labeled "restaurant" sourdough. This is real sourdough like Bud Light is real beer. I complained to the store manager, who was very friendly and helpful. He promised to follow up with the bread guy and let me know. He never did of course. It doesn't make sense to make a special trip to another store just for sourdough, so we wound up getting our groceries at Smith's next door. I probably won't return to S&F until Costco discontinues my Trident salmon burgers again. Of course, S&F, in their infinite grocers' wisdom will probably discontinue the salmon burgers too. This is the cute game stores play with the public. S&F has small avocados for 39 cents. You spend 80 cents on two small avocados and get a better deal than a grocery store that charges $1.80 for an average-sized avocado. Avocado toast on sourdough, yum! read more

Ok. I have a confession to make. I have no self control in Costco so I come to Smart & Final. I can get great things for any party, drinks, veggies, meats, dairy, cheeses, spices, cleaning supplies, etc. On my last trip, I bought 6 Vitamin Waters because I noticed on the sign they were $1.00 each, saving about $.49 each. What I failed to also notice on the sign was that you had to purchase 10 or more to get that price. I didn't notice my mistake until I got home. I went back to the store the next day to return something else and mentioned this. Angela was right on the customer service and she allowed me to go get four more bottles and basically made it right and I got all 10 for $1.00 each. That saved me $4.90! I walked away a satisfied customer. Thank you, Angela for taking care of this and I will be more careful in reading the signs on the products in the future. I also love buying frozen fruit here at Smart & Final for my fruit smoothies. They even have a mango blend of fruit, very nice. I can't recall seeing that anywhere else. Angela rocks! read more

I really dig Smart & Final for the most part. They carry a lot of different things & have a pretty good selection of things, as well of some cool revolving items that come in every now and again. 2 items I always come here for are, my 7 grain bread & Dole pineapple juice ;) Everything else is just a bonus. However, just like anywhere else, some of their items are not as cheap as other stores. I feel that you really have to frequent this place in order to find the deals that aren't always advertised. read more

My husband likes to come here for the meat. When he's in the mood for smoking, he'll stop in and get a pork shoulder or butt, and the beef brisket. I haven't been here in years, so when he said he was going, I tagged along. I walked up and down each isle, checking on the prices and the goods. Some items were priced about the same as other stores, but it was the quantity that was different, buying bulk is good when you are feeding family or planning a tailgate, but for the two of us, it isn't necessary.
