Best Chilean empanadas anywhere! Love the cupcakes and everything they have to offer.

Have been looking for a new cupcake bakery for birthday celebrations and found Smallcakes in Keller, Texas. Guess how I found this bakery? Come on guess? Yelp! On Yelp there were many bakeries but liked that this location was on my way to the celebration. Walking in you are greeted with this cute fun decor with a setting to take selfies. They offer cute fun balloons that you can add to your order. I shopped online and called the store with my order. What I can say about their cupcakes is that the cake has this fine light texture and flavor. The red velvet was my favorite and will be back for another 1/2 dozen or more. Turns out that Smallcakes cupcakes were my son's family favorite so winner winner when I showed up with them at our celebration. Also, they offer empanadas which is kind of a weird combination but they looked great and will be back when I need to bring a dish to a family gathering. Purchased 4 cupcakes this weekend and they taste so bitter! I am not a super taster. This is not the first time. I will never be back. I do not recommend wasting money unless they improve the taste. Less leavening perhaps?!? read more

it's been years since I've stepped in the store since my last review. Nothing has changed other than the overpowering smell that is a turn off for cupcakes. lots of missing items and awful service. too many other options to waste anymore time here. fool me once ...well lesson learned. read more

This place is perfect if you're looking for minis to bring into the classroom! We've ordered their mini cupcakes a few time for classroom events. They offer a gluten free option which is tasty if you have an allergy. The service is great and they often have discounts on certain days of the week if you signup for their rewards. My family and I had a great experience at Smallcakes. They offer a wide variety of cupcake flavors--everything in the case looked fantastic--and they even have empanadas, which I haven't tried yet but definitely plan to. There's also a cute, Instagram-worthy wall if you're into snapping a few fun photos. Each cupcake runs about five dollars, but they're generously sized and feel worth it. While I haven't been to the actual store (was at a farmer's market), I was able to get three of their chorizo empanadas. I have to say that these were hands down some of the best empanadas I have ever had. The gentleman who was running the stand was a really nice guy too! I will definitely be a regular now that I know one can get empanadas in Keller again. read more

My husband and I swung by here after grabbing him something at Zaxbys nearby. It's tucked back to where it might not be able to be seen from the road but plenty of parking at that center. I grabbed a veggie friendly empanada which was really good! On the cupcake side of things I recommend one of their more unique flavors over one of the more basic ones; that way you get to get something unique to them. read more

I love that their is a smallcakes location near me. I was pleasantly surprised by how warm and inviting the interior of the store is. This location is a family owned business and I was greeted/served by the husband. They have icecream, cupcakes and merchandise for sale (cups etc.). I sampled a couple of flavors and decided on tiramisu icecream in a waffle cone. This was a prefect treat on a sunny day. It wasn't bad, but it wasn't great. The cake itself was moist, but didn't have much flavor in itself. IMO the icing could have been better. It had that synthetic/over processed taste that just makes you want to scrape it off entirely. We got the lemon, churro, birthday cake, German chocolate, and carrot cake. Personally, I found the carrot cake and German chocolate to be the most palatable, but I wouldn't go back for either. read more

The empanadas are ABSOLUTELY AMAZING. We ordered the veggie because my daughter is allergic to egg and the other empanadas were egg washed. Simply devine! Please consider offering the other empanadas without using egg wash. We'd love to try them! read more

Finally got a chance to stop by and grabbed some cupcakes to bring over to dinner. I passed up a chance to try these when a rep brought them to our office one day. They looked delicious and so pretty but yeah dieting sucks. Fast forward several months later, I came in on a week day and they weren't busy at all. There were quite a few flavors on display and the nice employee told me whatever they don't have out, she can see if they had more in the back. I chose four flavors after asking her what the popular flavors were. She didn't steer me wrong; they were all hits. My favorite was the lemon drop. The frosting for all the flavors were not overly sweet, and I liked the frosting to cake ratio. The cake itself were all moist and soft as well. I will definitely come back here to pick up some treats for special occasions or just because whenever I'm back in the area. read more

I am so glad this place opened near my work.. well perhaps not for my waistline. Since the Southlake location closed down, I hope everyone will support this place. CC is the owner who greeted me and chatted with me. For just being opened on a Monday all by herself, the display had plenty of flavors.. there were strawberry, red velvet, lemon, chocoholic, fduge thst looks like hostess cake and more. Since I plan to try a different flavor each visit, I chose the Chocholic as my first flavor. The icong was a perfect balance and the cake was not too rich. I think I will try the red velvet.. or maybe even get the fudge as well. It is kinda hard to see from the road unless you recognize it and there is a logo van parked as well. It is right next to IFratelli. They also have ice cream as well.. if only they have mini cupcakes so I can have a bite of each. Muhaha!! read more

This is such a delicious dessert place! My husband and I each had one cupcake. They are a very nice size with a lot of icing. I had a chocolate with pink icing . The cake was delicious and moist and the icing was butter cream, Perfection! The other cupcake was chocolate cream. Chocolate cake with butter cream filling and chocolate icing. We should have taken a picture, but we forgot and ate them right away. Very nice shop; clean, colorful and inviting. It is tucked away sets back from the street next to Funky Baja. They are open everyday and they have many other wonderful flavors and ice cream. Cakes are made fresh everyday. People are nice as well. Order the wedding cake cup cake tasted rotten literally. This was once my favorite flavor, so disappointing. It once had a hint of almond flavor to it. Decided to try out this bakery for cupcakes because it is local and the cakes did not disappoint. The cake was fluffy and delicious. We got 6 different kinds and I tasted 3 which were all very good. I stopped in here once I realized the cup cake place I used to go to on 377 in Keller was gone. I had little hope that this cup cakery would meet the standards the old place had taught me to expect. But their cup cakes are AMAZING! The frosting is just right. The cake is so delicious it could stand on it's own. I've tried the lemon drop and the pink vanilla. I also have carrot, chocolate chocolate, hot cocoa, and coconut. I just can't wait to try them!
