I saw a few negative reviews on here but quickly realized they were all from a group that came here together from out of town and they clearly were the issue, not Smallcakes! I recently bought some smallcakes for my little bonus daughter's 7th birthday and I was very pleased with the experience. They had a nice variety of flavors and they were a HIT with the kids. They also had cupcakes for dogs so the pups got to be included in the festivities. It was a great experience! The gentleman working the store was friendly and helpful and he had me in and out in no time. The shop itself is cute and offers a generous amount of seating for those who want to stop in and stay a little while. read more

Smallcakes has two locations on the coast, downtown Gulfport and D'Iberville in the promenade . However, they are consistent on quality and product! If you're looking for a cupcake fix you can't go wrong here, I like all the flavors and variety and the cake is always moist. Service is always friendly as well and it is a super cute atmosphere! Cold & cruel. Those are the words that come to mind when reflecting on the atmosphere and experience I had at Smallcakes in Gulfport. My friends and I were overjoyed to find a local cupcake creamery, causing us to stride into the restaurant floating on pure joy. We were quickly brought back to Earth when faced with the harsh realities of Smallcakes. They lacked variety and options, only having 3 poorly advertised ice cream flavors and low stock in only 5 cupcake flavors. We tried to quell our disappointment, but it was hard to move past the lack of cake and cream. The barrier to our satisfaction was heightened by the rude and disengaged service experience. We were not greeted upon entry and the young lady working the register couldn't be bothered to assist us in navigating the decimated display case. No cupcake is good enough to overcome that. I wouldn't wish Smallcakes on my worst enemy. read more

This a cute little shop for your cupcake needs. They also provide ice cream, bottle drinks, and coffee too. Honestly, you are not there for anything else but cupcakes. In my opinion. The cookies N cream is pretty good too. Superior flavor with that cookies N cream flavor though out. The red velvet (chocolate but in red) this is very moist as all of them with great flavor though out. I saved the best for last. The wedding cake cupcake is so good. My only complaint is that I did not get more of it. I'll rectify this the next time I go there. Good almond flavor. Don't recommend this is your allergic to nuts. It is in downtown Gulfport off highway 49. This particular location. That have another location in D'Iberville I believe? Not very many seating there but it is a large place. I did not sit there but the seats look comfortable with no padding. Parking tho can be a challenge. If you do find a spot to park; it is very tight or maybe do a little walk to the shop. I called in and ordered 6 cupcakes for my daughter's birthday, to be delivered. 2 lemon, 2 strawberry, and 2 chocolate. I will get to the yummy stuff in a second. The baker I spoke with on the phone was warm, helpful, and went out of her way to make this a wonderful experience for my daughter. According to my kid the cupcakes were amazing. I don't know because none made it home. That is a good sign of sweet yummies. The next time I need, want, desire, or crave cupcakes...this will be my destination. read more

However, no quality of the cupcake could have made up for the hostility and lack of comfort we experienced in the store. To market yourself as a "creamery" while only offering 3 flavors of ice cream is entirely evil. Not to mention the lack of flavors offered at this supposed cupcake emporium. The problems we faced with the actual product was just the tip of the iceberg, as the customer service was just as poor. Met with no means of greeting or communication, we were forced to navigate the problematic menu on our own. After I experienced the Ship Island Boat Excursion (which I would recommend), I was ready for a sweet treat. I strolled on down for a sweet treat and what I found was a disappointing establishment. As I walked in, the young lady at the front desk said absolutely nothing. She didn't respond to my questions about the 3 ice cream flavors. The cupcake I ended up purchasing was the lemon drop cupcake. The cake to frosting ratio was incredibly off balanced, way to much icing with a dry cupcake. The cake itself felt way too spongy, almost like it was just generic cupcake mix. The actual atmosphere of the establishment was cold and quiet. I would totally not recommend this place, instead go to Chillville Creamery down the street. read more

Me and some friends wanted to grab a sweet treat after taking the boat to ship island (which we do recommend) and settled on smallcakes. However our excitement turned to horror as we realized there were only 3 flavors of ice cream and only about 12 cupcakes between 5 flavors. The atmosphere felt sterile and unwelcoming as the lady at the counter didnt say hi and stared at us without speaking. This IS what quality ice cream should be!!!! My first visit was a week ago, by accident. I was looking for a cool milkshake when I entered this little shop. I fell for the cookies'n cream flavor. I am no ice cream expert but I love eating it any chance I get. The ice cream was amazingly good in taste, flavor and consistency. I haven't had a good quality ice cream in a while. I returned today, a week later, for other flavors. The vanilla bean and chocolate in combination with the cookies'n cream flavor are the winners!!! The place is sparkling clean, the servers are nice, funny and polite. Mary and Justin were the servers and I am highly pleased with their service. I look forward to returning here for the same trio flavors or anything else they offer. I am no family member of the owners or a friend of the servers, just a customer who wishes to share experiences. I highly recommend this place if you are in town or passing through Gulfport.
