For many years, I have been in search of a good loaf of rye bread. I got 2 loaves of the "Swiss Rye" at Electrik Maid. I have to tell you I am astonished. The sliced loaf bread here is perfect. The way that it toast is perfect. A little butter before toasting will turn it divine. I will even make the perfect garlic bread to go with your pasta. Sometimes they are out of it in the front but if you call the day before, then you can pick it up the following day baked fresh that morning. I've never met a donut I didn't like, until now. We've heard the commercials on the radio so we decided to give them a try. First off, they have a weird bready aftertaste. Second, they are horribly sweet! I mean your teeth will ache, sweet. The chocolate on top crumbled off when i bit into one and when i touched the others, same thing. No soft donuts here. They tasted like two day old donuts. A BIG waste of $11! Just aweful! Save your money and head two blocks east to Fantasy Donuts. They are superb. I special ordered a chocolate and coconut cream pie for relatives to enjoy when they came to visit in Biloxi for the first time. I usually make one but tan out of time so I ordered them from the bakery. The meringue was browned nicely and looked appealing; however, the fillings tasted so bland and artificial that I threw them away after 3 of us had a sliver of each to taste them. The coconut cream was ground coconut not flakes and the chocolate was rich looking dark choc palate but was very artificial tasting. They both seemed like vanilla flavoring was missing. Look, I really did try to give this place a chance, actually, 3 chances. Even after people from base told me that this place is not good, I gave it a chance. Even when I went there and bought the pound cake that tasted months old and crumbled like a cracker that had a hair in it (Flies were flying where the pastries were as well) I gave it a chance, the last chance was a big one, my wife made big preparations for my Daughter's birthday, and trying to give the benefit of the doubt to a mom and pops place, especially during the pandemic. one would expect the business to appreciate this. I know I would have. I tell my wife about this place, selling it to her in a sense, it's because I like to see the small business succeed, you know, support your local business. So, after convincing my wife to go there, she reluctantly goes, we place our order three weeks prior and were adamant about picking up the cake today Dec 12 at 1200. We stressed this several times. Today we go there, they initially they couldn't' find our order, when they found it, they obviously did not even work on it, as a matter of fact, they were working on someone else's cake. We had made reservations and the guy stated he could get it done in 45 minutes, again, I had reservations and they just ignored what I said, I told the guy we cannot wait and wanted my money back, oh by the way the lady who works the front with the brown hair, not the lady with the grey hair, is extremely rude, she turns around to the guy and is obviously making seem like I would not get my money. What made it worse, we had a picture with were to place on the cake and the guy had no idea, asking us while we were there. These instructions were written on the receipt they kept, the lady with the grey hair wrote them down. I took my money back and didn't say a word, the rude lady sarcastically says "You're welcome" I said, "You welcome for what?" Look, I don't know much about this business, I am sure whoever ran it long ago did a great job, I could almost see myself being a native here and saying to myself, "I remember when this place was great" I had to go to Rouses instead. While I have only been here one time, I was highly impressed with the customer service and their petit fours! The lady behind the counter was so helpful and guided me through all of the pastries and breads that they had available. She also told me that many of the local restaurants/casinos order there bread from them, which I could imagine because it smells delicious there! The Petit fours were delectable for such tiny desserts and I would go back even if it was just for these alone! Their sugar cookies were on the sweeter side, kind of like the kind you get at walmart or winn dixie and while I didn't take to them my niece loved them! read more

When I worked at Keesler I use to stop here frequently and order Baklava on my way to work. It was always a rare treat and a perfect compliment to my coffee. This Thanksgiving I wanted a real show stopper so I asked what was there most popular cake and the lady on the phone replied Rum coconut. I replied that I will have that. When I arrived I picked up a few other cakes and pies. One of them a lemon pie actually stole the show. It got the more compliments than the turkey on Thanksgiving. read more

This place has always had issues with selling product that was beyond it's prime. Their product seems to sit in the case for long periods of time. So if it's something they don't make on a daily basis, you take a chance that it will not be fresh. But their king cakes have always been pretty good. I just bought one of their original kind cakes and I can't say I was very satisfied. I suspect it was day old and the flavors were just not as good as I've had in the past. So anything you get here is hit or miss. I won't be going back for a king cake, which is a shame because at one time they were a real treat. And it was the only thing I still bought there. read more

Do yourself a favor and just keep on driving. We should've left when we were told she couldn't sell us the pound cake because it had a little mold starting to grow on the bottom because "they don't use preservatives". I can't believe anyone ever reviewed this place as "clean". It's very old and it shows. It was extremely stuffy and warm inside the bakery, which might explain the mold on the food. We tried baklava, petit fours, upside down cake and the filled horn. Every single thing tasted old and dried out. Definitely NOT baked fresh daily. read more

This is a very old bakery. It's been around for many many years. And unfortunately, in all that time nothing has changed very much. The bakery cases are always more than half empty. I don't think they've changed any of the selections in a very long time. We placed an order that apparently couldn't be filled but two days later they still hadn't contacted us to let us know. The excuse was that the employee that took the order didn't know that it couldn't be filled. That's fine, but they had the phone number and still never called to let us know. It was also very frustrating to walk in the door and see what we had ordered on a sign but to be told that it couldn't be done. You're not gonna find anything new, unique, or modern in this place. read more

Ok, first of all! I had very high hopes since ratings were high! But I personally thought everything was too sweet!!! Chocolate chip cookies were bland and tasted store bought! Cream horns were stale and the cream was way too sweet! Baklava was also too sweet and just didn't seem fresh! Let's just say I bought $20 worth of pastries and not even my kids enjoyed them! Got two different donut (lemons filled and chocolate glaze) and a cheese danish.. lemon filled donut was filled 1/4 of the way only and doesn't taste like lemon at all, chocolate glaze doesn't taste like chocolate, and the cheese danish was mostly dough and sugar glaze and a small amount of cheese filling at the center.. dough was hard and not fresh. This was my first time to use this bakery, and I was very pleased with the taste and beautiful decorating on the red velvet cake I ordered for a bridal shower. I ordered it one afternoon and was told it would be ready the next day for $14.97. It was ready as expected the next day when I arrived to pick it up, but the price on the ticket had been changed to $19.97. The lady behind the counter was very nice, but told me I had to pay the higher price because the owner had changed the ticket. The lady behind the counter said it was a specialty cake, and she had quoted me the wrong price the day before. I usually have no problem paying the extra amount, but feel the owner or someone from the bakery should have called me to confirm that I still wanted the cake at the higher price. I was not happy with someone increasing the price without telling me on the front end. If I had had time to get another cake somewhere else, I would not have picked up this cake. read more
