Vegan BLT bagel
Paul C.

Small Mart made for a cozy little breakfast stop. It's all vegan--so not my usual go-to--but it definitely did the trick. I had the garlic bagel with cream cheese and a latte, and it all hit the spot. If you're nearby, it's a great place to grab a quick and satisfying bite in the morning.

Cute place in the Bywater. Have driven by it many times as my niece goes to school two blocks away but have never stopped in. Decided to give it a try and was not disappointed. Amazing staff and wonderful bagels. Got the Philly and that bagel was AMAZING. That bagel shop on Freret used to be my fave but Small Mart is my new spot. Small seating area (maybe 20 people can sit inside). They offer juices and have a coffee shop inside too. This place is perfect for the Bywater area. Lots of foot traffic especially on the weekends.

gringo bagel

A great little food (mostly bagels) spot! I love to get my haircut next door at Bandit. Then, come here to enjoy an espresso (from Pond) and a bagel from Small Mart with my fresh new due. Check out their social media for the pop up markets that's located just outside on select Saturday's. Lots of bagel flavors & spreads! Highly recommend. I had the Gringo which was very fresh and tasty. Very helpful / friendly staff too !

The Chum

This is such a gem! We came in for some coffee and bagels to get our morning started. This is in walking distance of JamNola which was our destination today. I ordered "The Chum" on an everything bagel, which had smoked salmon, apple and onion. This was so good, refreshing and filling. We loved the service and enjoyed looking at the bulletin board of local businesses and artists while we waited!

Love Small Mart!! The best chai in Nola and always excellent for vegetarian treats. Love the veggie fritters, samosas and bagels. Super nice people and a convenient coffee shop type atmosphere.

Norwegian bagel sandwich.

I had a great bagel sandwich at Small Mart! One of the best I've had in NOLA recently. I got the Norwegian bagel sandwich and it was really delicious! Huge and the bagel was great too. Super friendly service and the inside is so cute too. I will definitely be back!

Small Mart is a great place for breakfast or lunch! Very cute spot, very friendly people. Share a space with pond coffee which I love! Ordered a New Yorker and it was good, but not my favorite. Heavy on the capers (which I liked! But a matter of preference) and heavy cream cheese. Bagel tasted a bit stale--wouldn't pick it over other bagel spots in the city especially given that it was more expensive. I'm still excited to come back and try their non-bagel food--the vegan options look great.

I seriously need to revisit this place and try all the things located in this cute little vegan cafe tucked away in the Bywater. They have a really nice menu selection from chaat bowls to lox bagels to tuna salads. I made my own bagel combination with the onion bagel and salmon spread. The spread tasted mostly of cream cheese but the onion itself was really flavorful with a nice chewy texture. My friend's chaat bowl was also really yummy with its chickpeas, veggies and "wet sauce". The orders came out hot and fresh and ready for the taking.

This restaurant was a surprising find for me that I noticed upon walking by. I feel sorry for them, in that the street in front of their store is presently being torn up and replaced. You could argue that might date this review, and knowing New Orleans, I expect that a shiny new surface will be in place by 2050. For right now, I would park on one of the main roads and walk here. Bywater is one of my favorite neighborhoods to eat in, but not to drive through. The food is a mix of bagel sandwiches and Indian fast food. While the bagels did look appealing, I went for a samosa and a chai. The chai packed a nice black pepper punch on top of a rich mix of spices (and not sugar). My samosa was quite excellent, with some cashews mixed into the pea and potato filling and a mango chutney on the side. You can eat in, if you're not claustrophobic; they've taken what used to be a nice dining area (for Bao and Noodle, if memory serves, which has since moved to yet another spot) and plopped an espresso bar in the middle of it, leaving very little space for actual customers (to be fair, you can't say they didn't warn you, what with the name and all). The sign says vegetarian, which this restaurant isn't quite (offering some sort of fish as a bagel topping), but it's certainly a welcome addition to the scene and may very well be the best place to get a samosa in New Orleans.

People and places like this are confirmation of why I moved to this city. Bryant is one of the nicest people I've ever met. He was so patient explaining everything to me and convinced me to sit and eat instead of taking my food to go which I needed to do because I need to slow down in life in general. And had I taken it to go I wouldn't have been able to truly enjoy how delicious it was! Omg definitely one of the best bagels I've had ever but the star of the show was the house made cashew based cream cheese WOW! Bryant suggested to mix it with their sun dried tomato spread and I'll be thinking of that all week until I return next Saturday lol I made my own creation with that and cucumber, onion and basil and my taste buds are so happy. Their chai is also as good as everyone says! I'm so glad that I found this place.

We walked over with 4 kinds under 3 years old and they were so nice and accommodating. The food is awesome and the service is amazing.

Loved this place! I ordered the vegetarian PO boy with avocado, chips, and a green apple Fanta. One of my favorite sandwiches ever.

The kind of thing you think about after you leave, which is exactly why we found ourselves back there four days later. The bagels themselves are perfectly chewy, beautifully blistered, and clearly made by people who take this very seriously. For a New Yorker to admit that a bagel outside of NYC is this good is not something we say lightly. If you're in New Orleans and you don't go here, you're doing it wrong. We went twice in five days and would have gone a third time if we'd had more time. Absolute must.

Flour Moon -- 5 (and I don't say that lightly)…read more Let me start with this... I didn't even come here to work. But babyyy, the vibe pulled me in and sat me down real quick. The atmosphere? 10/10. It's one of those places that just feels good. Calm, airy, aesthetically pleasing without trying too hard. Perfect for getting work done, studying, catching up with your friend, or a cute little meet-up with your boo. And it's family-friendly, which I love. Inside + outside seating, so you can really choose your mood for the day. Now let's talk about what really matters... the BAGEL. Listen... it has been YEARS since I've had a goooood bagel sandwich. Like the kind you think about later. The kind that makes you pause mid-bite. This is THAT spot. The menu isn't overwhelming, but the options?? Whew. So many bagel choices, cream cheeses, jams--because let's be real... what is a bagel without cream cheese?? I went in fully planning to get two sandwiches just to try more (greedy, I know ), but this one humbled me real quick. I got the BlueBird... and I've been eyeing it for a minute, so I already knew I had to. Turkey, jalapeño cream cheese, banana peppers, blueberry jam... Yeah. Let that sit. Sweet, savory, creamy, a little kick... it just works. I was SOLD. While I was sitting there working, I asked a couple next to me if they were regulars (because their food looked too good not to ask ). They told me they come all the time and basically get everything. That told me everything I needed to know. And honestly? I believe them. You will NOT be disappointed here. And the drink?? Oh it had a little punch to it--in the best way. Not watered down, not playing with you. One of those "okayyyy I taste it" moments. IYKYK. Overall, this was such a great experience. The food, the vibe, the energy... everything aligned. I will absolutely be back--especially when I'm on that side of the river again. Flour Moon, you did your thing.

We were a party of 3 adults and 2 children (one being only 2 years old), and because of that they changed our table type from a 4-top to a 5-top and made us wait an additional 30 minutes. Meanwhile, multiple tables became available that easily could have accommodated us, but the hostess was determined to keep telling us we had to wait. To make matters worse, there was open bench seating in the back where customers ordering to-go could sit. I offered to order food to-go so we could at least sit down and get started while waiting, and she told me if I did that they would remove our name from the waitlist because "you have to pick one or the other." No willingness to problem solve whatsoever. She repeatedly said she was "sorry," but her actions showed the opposite. I was simply trying to work together to find some reasonable solution instead of continuing to watch everyone else get seated while our family, including small children, kept waiting. Absolutely horrible customer service experience.
