They're back at Kailua for the summer!! Hooray!! Come get em while you can! Our favorite is the trio plate....recommend going there first before anywhere else at the Kailua market

Small kine a hidden gem, but plenty kine 'ono! My friends and I stumbled upon this vendor at the KCC Farmers Market this past July and were wowed by the variety of things that were possible with mushrooms. A young family was running the booth, and our order was promptly taken right before the market was finishing up for the day. All of the items were served piping hot, and we were oh, so excited to dig in! * trio plate ($12): comes with mushroom poppers, zucchini, and risotto cakes. The mushroom poppers were juicy white mushrooms coated in a breadcrumb coating. Simple, but delicious. The zucchini was also coated in a breadcrumb coating; it remained juicy and crispy which was a plus. As for the risotto cakes... * deep fried mushroom risotto cakes ($8 ala carte): ...I knew I had to get a bigger serving of this for the group. This was divine. Mushroom risotto with a breadcrumb coating? Blew my mind. I gave this booth another visit this past August JUST for this alone. Happy that this booth exists! A little underrated, but so, so yummy!

Do you love mushrooms? I sure do! And this place has all kinds of mushroom yumminess! Whether you like them raw and to cook with or deep fried and ready to eat. They have it all. I learned about this Kailua open market vendor on Thursday from my friend, Jillian. She found a cool side job here and she kept posting all these amazing mushroom poppers and zucchini fritters every Thursday. Finally, I found time and a reason to go down to this farmers market to check her stand out. All I could smell as I approached their booth was fried goodness. I arrived as soon as the market opened @ 4pm, which was good because it was rather empty. They had a bunch of fried goodies, selection of beautiful portabello mushrooms fresh from the farm, soups and prepared frozen meals to go! Wow. Decided to get the Trio Plate because why not? I've been dying to try these items so why not get a little of each. Comes with mushroom poppers, zucchini fries and risotto cakes! And are drizzled with a ranch and shiracha ranch dressing. My friend was so sweet, she also gave me a bowl of their mushroom soup to try too! It was hard not to eat them while driving but I didn't want to eat with my hands. Each item were fried to a golden perfection. The zucchini fries had a tenpura batter and was oh so juicy! The mushroom poppers were rolled in a panko and has a great crunch to it. The risotto cakes were also breaded in panko and fried. Nice and rich risotto inside and crunchy outside. Everything was soooo good!!! To my surprise though, the mushroom soup was the star. I wasn't expecting all the deliciousness that came from this!!! It's creamy, but not thick like the cream of mushroom you get from a can. It is hands down the best mushroom soup I've had in a very long time. I would buy a jug of this!! Thank you, Jillian for introducing me to this gem. Will definitely be back to get more fried goodies and soup! Also, if you can't get to Kailua on a Thursday afternoon, they are also at the Saturday KCC farmers market too! Check them out and get your shrooms on. :)

So, all you people out there who have never visited Waimanalo Country Farms, this is your chance. I did the hay ride. You get to hear a live story from the driver. No such thing as prerecording. It's like a historic museum ride about this farm. This farm strictly ran by a family of six generation if I remember correctly. I also got to try their lovely pumpkin pie and sweet tea. They were extremely fresh and good. I like to believe that they made it from scratch since they have all the ingredients.

We visited because we saw ads of the pumpkin patch and wanted to check it out ourselves. Military gets an entry discount for visiting too. This place also offers a riding tour on one of the trailers, there's also one for kids on a different ride. The most interesting part is the farm, we love seeing cute and small animals, the goats were the most active at the location, the donkeys were also loud. You can also feed the goats by visiting the food booth and paying one of the staff members for a cup of dried green bites. We took lots of pics, it was getting hot for us but what ever, it's Hawaii. Our favorite part was the sunflower field, it was away from the crowd and we can choose any lane to take pics, just watch out for bees if you're afraid of them or can't tell between wasps, yellow jackets or bees. It looked like a lot of the good pumpkins were already picked out so the pumpkin field looked pretty decent, the swing that's at the pumpkin patch area was a nice touch though.

Incredible. My wife…read moreand I had been eyeing egg prices for months. We fortunately purchased a stack of 60 medium eggs while grocery shopping just prior to the spike in prices for $22. Needless to say, there hadn't been many options that supported that price point - though more and more are slowly reappearing. We decided that if we were going to pay a premium for our set of eggs, they'd have to be good - and we wanted the best. OK Poultry seems to have earned themselves a reputation over several decades for the freshness and quality of their eggs. A little backstory, the restaurant I took my wife out to on our first date also got their TKG eggs from OK Poultry. Then we learned that our friend's father who is also a chef, would come to pick up eggs from here as well. Over the years, we've heard more and more stories about these famous eggs, but we never really had the opportunity to head out to nalos just for eggs - until this past weekend. Coming off a 3+ day water fast, I was eating a lot of eggs as an easily digestible source of protein and boy those TKG cravings hit. So, we made a trip out to OK Poultry and showed up early, well before opening, not knowing what the situation was with the lines. Met a nice fellow who said he'd be getting his eggs there since he was a kid and that all the decor you see was there since the 70s. After picking up two trays, we headed straight for the in-laws house where we cracked one of these beauties over hot rice. Fantastic. Mixed with that umami rice, winnahz. We left some for my wife's parents while also delivering some to my own parents - because what says "I love you" more than the gift of eggs? We'll probably be back in a week or so for more. There's a noticeable difference in taste and we find these eggs particularly enjoyable even if you have to pay just a tiny bit of a premium for what could arguably be the best eggs on the island.

Drive slow, not need to ruin your car, the road is a bit rough when you start going deep into the nursery. Frankie's is on the Windward side, but basically in the mountains. You really need to know where you are going, it's most definitely off the beaten path. Cell reception starts to get much weaker... almost non existent. There are a healthy variety of plants for you to purchase, Frankie's is after all a nursery. But the main focus of this trip was to try the exotic fruits. They sell a variety of exotic fruits from around the world. The staff are very knowledgeable and friendly and will gladly tell you about the fruits. They do have cut fruit platters for you to try, just make sure you bring a cooler bag, it's a journey onto itself to get here. There are few picnic tables in the back for you to enjoy fresh fruits, along with a hand washing station and a restroom. #ExoticFruits: ~ BLACK SAPOTE topped off with Whipped Cream - 5/5 Amazing. I never heard of some of these fruits. The best way to try a little of everything. Some of the fruits were delish, some very strange. I'd love to return and try some of the other fruits.

Classes and special tours available by appointment; check their calendar online for special events. They do aquaponics classes, worm classes, and more. We did a tour of the grounds which was $25 per family and included visits to the areas listed below. The kids loved it! (btw, the kids have to be able to walk, the terrain is uneven and there are no paths for the back half of the tour) LOCATION: The address says "Waimanalo" but it's closer to Olomana golf course and my GPS sent us to the wrong house in the valley by about 1/4 mile. FOR SALE: In addition to the tour, we were able to buy some fresh eggs ($6/doz). It almost made us want to get two hens of our own until I came to my senses. They also sell composting worms ($40/pound) and have great pricing on worm bins ("can o worms" $125, and the "worm factory" $100). Those were the prices on the day we went this past summer, the prices may have gone up since then.
