This nursery is deep in the country and that's how they do. When you arrive, you're not quite sure you're in the right place and when you walk up to the office, there's a chill cat laying on the desk with a calm and friendly guy to greet you. "Take cart 3", they say, and soon you find yourself driving around the 16 acres in a golf cart, throwing plants into the back and marveling at the backdrop of the ko'olau mountains. It is not fancy by any means, prepare to get muddy if it's rainy, but the plants are reasonably priced and go by size of the pot $5 for smallest pot and goes from there. The uncle running the place was so kind and offered to bring us boxes and help but we brought a tarp for the backseat and our plants made it home safely. A great adventure for the plant lover and off roading golf cart enthusiast.

So we're doing same landscaping at our home and one of our friends recommend this location. This place is so big that they let you use a golf cart to get around. There is a large variety of plants and flowers and the prices are so reasonable. Awesome staff and will be back

This was an awesome nursery to visit on the island. They had a variety of plants and trees to choose from. The nursery is huge that they have electric golf carts to go driving around and picking out what you want. Prices were reasonable. Will likely visit when on the island again.

I cannot recommend Koba's Nursery enough friendly, and affordable, what's not to love? First off, the trek here is beautiful. I love any reason to make a drive out to the Windward side and the drive to Koba's is always worth it. Second, the property in itself is incredible. It's organic beauty and majesty of the Ko'olau mountains is unmatched. The property is huge... I mean, big enough that you need a golf cart to get around. How cool is that? My girlfriend and I decided to adventure out of our usual Kaneohe-Kailua routine to do some plant shopping. We were able to find a diverse mix of tropical and exotic plants--even some plants I swear I've never seen before. It was nice to just roam the property and kind of get lost in all of the greenery. If you're looking for a new houseplant or looking to just get outside--I can't recommend this place enough!

I wanted to buy a small coconut tree, of the variety that is often called a "Sāmoan coconut"; only Koba's Nursery had some for sale. They quite honestly said the trees were so young that they couldn't be absolutely sure they were Sāmoan. So, what I did was buy 3, and figured surely one of them would turn out to be Sāmoan. After several years, we think all 3 are truly Sāmoan! So, I contacted Koba's again, and their employee, Steven Laba, came out to plant the tallest of the 3 trees in my backyard. Steven did a great job, he gave me lots of useful advice, and was very friendly! He charged me $50 for his work, and then he paid me $80 to take the remaining 2 trees and the 3 pots back to Koba's to nurture for future customers. Thank you Steven!

Koba's is located in Waimanalo not far off Kal Hwy. It's so beautiful up here with the mountains looming overhead. There's plenty parking and no restroom facilities. They usually close by 3pm so go early. They don't carry fruit trees, it's mostly hedges and flowers. A lot of beautiful crotons, ixora, hibiscus, plumeria, and bougainvillea (only certain colors). For such a large property, they keep them all very organized! They are grouped by variety and size. The small ones are $2 and $3, medium pots $5, bigger $20, and I believe there are some even larger pots with big trees. The plants for the most part looked very healthy and well cared for. The employees were all super nice and helpful with pointing out plant names and locations. And yes the golf carts were super duper fun. We picked a cool day which made it all even more enjoyable. Just driving the golf cart around their beautiful property was a nice experience in itself. We had our 3 kids with us and they of course had a blast zipping around (safely of course). We will definitely be back!

One really great thing that happened to me during the pandemic is that I'm not a plant mom! Since we were doing home renovations, we've been going to home improvement stores and I've been perusing the home garden section a lot but realized, I should just go to a plant nursery! So I searched it up on my handy dandy Yelp app and Koba's Nursery was first to pop up. So I made the journey out to the beautiful side of Waimanalo and visited. I went early because I like to have an early start to my day and figured it wouldn't be too hot. We got there and were one of the first to arrive. The staff are super sweet and the nursery is expansive that they let you take a golf cart around as you look for your future plants! Right at the front they have a green house with all your plants that need indirect light like your pothos, monsteras and more. What I was really looking for was a white birds of paradise. But it was a little hard to tell, LUCKILY, I had an app just for the occasions called PictureThis, all your plant parents out there must know what I'm talking about - but if you have a better one, lmk! I ended up leaving with two plants I didn't think I'd come for - a white ginger lily and a..my app identified it as a Bird of Paradise, but I know it's not.. Haha Let me know if you know what it is! I'll share a photo. Especially during the pandemic, it was really great to support local and it's cheaper to get plants grown locally. So if you're in the need of some plants, or really just go visit, visit Koba's Nursery!

Such an amazing and beautiful nursery. They lend you a gold cart to drive around the whole property since the place is pretty big. I enjoyed the nature scenery of the mountains while looking around for some plants. Prices are decent and they have a wide variety of plants to choose from

Awesome nursery!!! Owners were very helpful and friendly!! Wouldn't mind coming back over and over again.

I always stop by Koba's when I return home to see family. This place is HUGE and their selection of plants is unreal. You're not going to find too many "rare" houseplants, but they have a bunch of native and non-native plants that are beautiful. The biggest hit: you need to take a go-kart to see their 16 acres of land! It's like a mini adventure! Make sure to bring cash.

Stolen from - https://www.frankiesnurseryllc.com/ Da wahine heard about Frankie's from one of her friends and was adamant about visiting the farm. So off the farm we went... Drive slow, not need to ruin your car, the road is a bit rough when you start going deep into the nursery. Frankie's is on the Windward side, but basically in the mountains. You really need to know where you are going, it's most definitely off the beaten path. Cell reception starts to get much weaker... almost non existent. There are a healthy variety of plants for you to purchase, Frankie's is after all a nursery. But the main focus of this trip was to try the exotic fruits. They sell a variety of exotic fruits from around the world. The staff are very knowledgeable and friendly and will gladly tell you about the fruits. They do have cut fruit platters for you to try, just make sure you bring a cooler bag, it's a journey onto itself to get here. There are few picnic tables in the back for you to enjoy fresh fruits, along with a hand washing station and a restroom. #ExoticFruits: ~ BLACK SAPOTE topped off with Whipped Cream - 5/5 Amazing. A MUST TRY! I never had anything like this. Nature's Chocolate Pudding!! ~ Exotic Fruit platter - 4.5/5 The platter changes on a regular basis... depending on availability and seasons. I never heard of some of these fruits. The best way to try a little of everything. Some of the fruits were delish, some very strange. I'd love to return and try some of the other fruits.

And never ever having been to the other side of the island for really much... I heard about this place from a friend of mines. And he needed to purchase some beautiful greenery for a side wall. AJ Bonner is the owner of Super Value Nurseries. And much of his planets are in the young range. It might be necessary to cultivate into the ground for preparation of needed growth. You won't find many fruit plants or any at all (perhaps that might change) but make sure to ask AJ and he will tell you who might have certain planets at other nurseries in Waimanalo. I was wondering about lemon trees, but he explained he doesn't have any fruit and entailed of nurseries that are nearby Waimanalo and that's helpful. I love this Nursery because while we spoke to AJ he had wildlife that he attracted. The fascination was that there was a Shama bird little purple black sheen with a tan orange belly that fluttered to him cause it knew he would have food. And AJ simply opened a container that was in his pocket and dumped out a few little worm grubs. It was fascinating... And I got to see a Native Bird land near where I was standing... a "Puuwilo" from the Elepio bird family... they would be in an area, an isolated from crowds area. I would make another visit soon not just for AJ's expertises in the plants but at least the fascination of seeing a few birds flutter close by. It's a lovely part of Waimanalo. And visit with AJ to get him to share these fascinations in his awesome plant nursery.
