Stopped in Sunday for a late lunch / early dinner. Small Batch is a great place both for a bite or to go grab a beer and watch a game. Restaurant isn't a massive place so great for small to mid size groups. Like that they don't overwhelm you with loud tvs and that you can actually have a conversation. Food is really good here. We had a the Nacho Mamma, Fat Mac burger with fries, and a taco salad with grilled chicken. Portions are large and taste is really good. We also started with the Sunshine Fries appetizer, I didn't grab a picture of that but I highly recommend for good cheese fries with a twist. Service was good, our server was also working behind the bar but was on point with drink refills and anything else we ended up needing. Prices are fair but food is great and you get really good portions. Definitely recommend you giving them a try. read more

I've been there many times and as a Winston Salem resident it's a go to when I'm in the mood for moderately priced pub food and micro-brewery beer. It can be a little noisy with music and tvs going but wait and bar staff have always been friendly and food and decent beer are moderately priced. I came here based on a local recommendation. I like to try microbreweries from time to time even though I really prefer drinking spirits. I did one of their flights. And it was a pretty good deal for $8. Two of the selections, the lemon and the galaxy, were way too bitter for my taste for a IPA. The other two lighter, pilsner types, were much better for my palate. Ambience is pretty good They have lots of big screen TVs you can watch games. Unfortunately they only had two things on one was a hockey game and another with some bizarre trivia game. I did like their selection of music that made it definitely entertaining. Service is a little bit slow. The bartenders could be a bit more attentive. Price is pretty good given the quality of the service and beers that are on tap. Parking is on the street and after certain hours it is free.If I was in the area I would come again. read more

As part of the Otis and Wawa Whiskey and Wine Crawl, this place was stop #4. My group of friends sat at the bar and was immediately served by a very sweet bartender. Since this was the 4th bar we entered we decided to eat here as well. One of my friends and I decided to share a meal as we weren't hungry, but figured that we should put some food in out system in order to make it through the rest of our adventure. As soon as we spotted that they served chicken and waffles (sweet potato was the option we picked), we knew that we had to try it. We. We're. Not. Disappointed. We were given a large waffle, drenched in maple syrup. We heard strangers around us asking about the maple smell. 3 of some of the juiciest chicken breasts topped it off. We massacred our meal. We weren't sure if it was because we were tipsy, or really that hungry. But that meal was BOMB! As I was checking into the place on Yelp!, I saw they had some really good looking milkshakes. I asked our bartender if I can get the milkshake menu, but she never returned with one. Then again, due to the crawl, it was packed and they were quite busy. My partner and I are visiting Winston-Salem for the weekend, so we decided to stop by this place, because it was right beside our hotel. We sat down at the bar, and the bartender asked for our drink order. When he asked for our IDs, he looked at them for a few seconds, sat them down on the bar, and told us that he couldn't serve us because the " colors were off". He set them back down on the bar and walked away before we could even say anything further. This has NEVER happened to us, and the way in which he just walked away without further explanation was incredibly rude. It was not only embarrassing, but it was almost 9:30, and we had been traveling all day, and we're looking forward to trying this place out, so it was a big disappointment. Can't really speak to the food, but what I can say is the bar was incredibly sticky, and all of the food that we saw people eating looked super sloppy and disgusting. It was probably a good thing that we didn't eat there. We'll never be back. We walked just a couple of minutes down the sidewalk and found a great spot called "Hungry Palate". I had the awesome Kung Fu Cauliflower appetizer and the Smoke Batch Burger (which has cheddar, bbq sauce, smoked bacon, pork belly, and grilled jalapeños). Their deserts are amazing. A really cool setting for a burger and drink. I met a friend there last night. While they had several drinks on tap, I opted for a PBR, which even came in a frosted mug (the fanciest PBR I've ever had!). I got the Buffalo Chicken Wrap and it was very flavorful and came with a generous portion of fries. I took off a star because they had a "Veggie Burger" on the menu, and since my wife is a vegetarian, I asked the server about it so I could come back with my wife. Long story short, I was told the "Veggie Burger" is not a vegetarian burger, but rather, a regular beef burger with vegetarian toppings (confused? me too). Maybe she was confused, but I asked again and was told the same thing. So, I took off a star since I'm not coming back with my wife since there are no veggie options outside of a cheese quesadilla. And if the server was wrong, I'm still taking a star off because she didn't know what she was talking about. All in all, I'd come back but to meet friends as this is not somewhere my wife would want to come, which makes it more likely we'd try one of the other great burger spots in town. read more

I'd like to start off by saying that Burger Batch is genius for serving up those milkshakes. Photogenic food is so big right now and I bet people flock here to take snaps of those over the top milkshakes. I sure did! Really it's so freaking smart. We ordered the It's A Surprise and it was quite tasty, I was bummed when I had to share with my table mates. They aren't just pretty, they actually taste good too! For savory options we shared the kung pow cauliflower and really enjoyed it! The burger was good, but the star of the show was those tasty, tasty, crispy Brussel sprouts. I highly recommend getting those as your side. Service was good! The place is tiny so expect to wait a bit on the weekend to grab a table. One of my favorite places in WS! I love to find places that have good, casual food, great drinks, and chill vibes and Small Batch is allllll of those things. Don't always find many places with TVs - but this place seems like a great place to watch a game and grab food. I would say the environment fits the "bar food" "sports bar vibe," and a great place to go with friends. I've been several times and unfortunately don't have any pictures of the food, but below are my top menu items: -Fresh calamari w/ the lemon vinaigrette sauce (top notch) -Chorizo cheese dip -Buffalo chicken wrap (best in WS) -Tenders/chicken wing meal (insane amount of food) -Sides: fries, brussels, sweet potato fries, and tots They have a full bar, wine, brew their own beers, and serve $2 PBRs (cheap!!). I also would like to mention the customer service is elite. I stopped in at Small Batch today with my 8 year old daughter looking for lunch. Truth be told, I wanted to take her to Mayberry which is around the corner but found them unexpectedly closed so we came here. We had been to a different location of Small Batch in Greensboro recently and this one is rather different. We enjoyed our experience at the other location a little bit more than we did here today. I wouldn't say that this location is NOT okay for kids, but I also wouldn't say that it's kid friendly. I would not come back here to eat in again for that reason, it makes a stressful situation for me as a parent. Almost all of the tables are bar height with most of the chairs being backless stools. The few alternatives are outdoor dining (and it looked like it might rain so that was a no go) to two seriously rickety indoor picnic tables that were also really uncomfortable with splits in the wood of the seat so it was literally pinching my butt the whole time, and unless you manage to get the spot against the wall at the picnic table, there is no back support to be had in this entire venue unless you're seated at the actual bar. I hate to admit that this matters to me because it feels really old and curmudgeonly, but it does. I'm currently nursing a shoulder injury and having to maintain perfect posture for an hour with no back support isn't my idea of a good time. I also was worried about getting my kid up and down from the stools or if she fell... so if you have little kids or similar ailments, this may make a difference for you. This location also has a much larger emphasis on the bar atmosphere than the other one does, and they also no longer serve their very famous milkshakes at this location either which is a bummer. The food we ordered, I got the Winston burger which features pimento cheese, grilled onions and potato chips, it was delicious and cooked really well. My daughters kids meal of chicken tenders was pretty impressive. Two adult hand sized huge tenders of real chicken that tasted freshly made, not frozen, those were impressive. We enjoyed our food and would say if you want a nice burger this is a good way to go. The food was good and I wouldn't be opposed to take out from here in the future but as for eating in, it isn't my favorite venue. read more

My daughter has a love of milkshakes. I'm always on the lookout for restaurants that serve the over the top ones made famous by Black Tap in NYC. I was waiting patiently for an establishment in Charlotte to come up with their own creation, but they are too busy focusing on breweries, I suppose. When I saw that there was a place in the Triad that served not only a hefty shake, but yummy burgers- I decided to make the trip. It was Valentine's Day, so I decided to surprise her. We arrived late afternoon, possibly before the after work crowd. We were seated immediately, and we placed our orders. The burgers....damn good! I can't remember the names but mine had the tobacco onions and hers had potato chips. I ordered a side of bacon Mac and cheese, which had the cup type of pasta shells that held the cheese and not elbow, which I thought was cool. There was no way I could finish the macaroni plus the burger,so it went home with me. I don't like milkshakes, so I didn't order one. She had the vanilla cake option and was thrilled with how sweet it was. The cake on top tastes really good also. I'm not sure when I will drive back to WS just to have a dinner, but if I'm anywhere in the vicinity of the city- I would go back to Burger Batch. read more

The Beet Gose On! A light, refreshing option with a clever name. This beer is tasty but if you do not like sours it is probably not for you. I was excited to check this place out after trying the Blonde & Session IPA at a soccer tournament my team was participating in. Walked in and my group of 6 had no issues ordering beers and finding a table. I do like that they experiment with their beers so you are not drinking the same thing each visit. I've been to Burger Batch twice now and really enjoyed both visits. All of Small Batch's beers are available at BB. The food items I've tried with comments are listed below: Zucchini Chips - well battered and fried (but not heavily battered). The Jalapeno ranch is a nice compliment Kung Pao Chicken Tenders - really really tasty. Thai chili sauce covers the tenders (one of my favorite condiments) and they have peanut sauce for dipping (one of my other favorite condiments). Two thumbs up. Roasted Cauliflower - Skip it. Not bad but only so much you can do with roasted cauliflower Brussel Sprouts - So good. Get these. You won't regret it. They have a balsamic or soy glaze that is delicious. The Winston - Very good burger though I wanted to taste more of the onion marmalade. I haven't tried any of the milkshakes yet, but it will happen and it will be glorious. One star deduction for two items: -The service was been was too much both times. The servers have seemed to hover over the time and were just. . . a lot. -The interior design. I just don't love it. We walked in to watch college football, and luckily two other people wanted the same game and had the staff put it on one TV. The rest were on soccer. The food was good. The highlights are the robust, mixed crowd (old, young, all walks of life), the quick, super friendly staff and of course, the Original BB Burger. One of the older breweries in the city (by old, it's been around since late-2013), but it's their food that stands out. Their pimento mac and cheese is awesome! I've also had some great chicken fingers here and of course, their burgers stand out, too. The beer is just okay. I still couldn't tell you which beer is my go-to whenever I stop in for a drink, which is usually on Thursdays (buy two pints, keep the glass). Service is also hit-or-miss. I've had some visits where the bartenders have been awesome, and other times where it's hard to get their attention when there are few people at the bar. However, I've been able to overlook that since I've had some great experiences there. read more

Folks, I have found the best burger in Winston Salem. Pictured is the Downtowner. Simply phenomenal. Cooked perfect, outstanding taste and very fresh lettuce and tomatoes. The French fries were incredible as well. Also had the zucchini chips and they were awesome. The craft beers are really good as well. I had the Queen Cersei Blonde and the Poppin Pilsner. Very happy with our first visit to Small Batch! The bar decor was somewhat trendy but managed to be cozy and welcoming at the same time. Our bartender was very sweet and her service was spotless. As of this writing they did not offer tastings or flights, so we tried very hard to sample as many pints as possible :) surprisingly I really liked the Limonhead and I'm not even an IPA fan! The favorite was the Kranked- dark beer lovers rejoice! Not a beer fan? They offer wine and craft cocktails as well and I'm hearing they may offer small plates as well in the future. Small Batch is a great addition to Winston's growing beer scene- here's to the first of hopefully many visits. Cheers! read more

Not a lot of places on 5th Street to get a drink. This place is pretty cool. Small menu of food if your hungry. Recommend the Bourbon Batch Burger. They have a few cocktails on the menu but the beer is the star. Appears that they have 8 - 12 craft beers on tap that they brew. Just found out tonight that Small Batch is dog friendly--yay!! Stopped by to grab a burger to go for dinner, and it was pretty quick because no one was there on a Tuesday evening at 5pm. I like the lighting and feel of this side more than the diner side of Burger Batch. The Original BB is a good-sized standard burger, with lettuce, tomatoes, and fancy sauce, which is just like a mayo chipotle sauce. It's $8.49 and comes with seasoned fries. The meat was juicy and cooked to a nice medium. We also learned that there are specials! Tuesdays are 50 cent wings but you have to buy a fountain drink and at least 10 wings. Thursdays are $5 burger days, and there are brunch specials on Sundays. read more

The only reason why this gets two stars is because my previous experiences here have been decent with no issues with the food especially when they used to serve milkshakes. The last time I came here later in the evening with a friend and we both received burgers that were basically completely raw (we did not order them this way) and only received 10% discount after having subpar service for the amount of people in the restaurant. read more

So this is the identical review to the Small Batch Beer review I posted. The reason? The food and drink offerings are the same. The Burger Batch is ideal for families and Small Batch for adults. The beer selections are fantastic only matched by the burgers. My son chose a plain burger-I had a bite-perfectly charred and a toasted bun. I had the veggie burger and it was the second best I've ever had - next to the Impossible Burger I had at the Wynn Hotel in Las Vegas. To finish things off, my son started with a Cookie Shake. This is not an ordinary shake, It is a monster-sized shake served in a tall ice-cream parlor glass - coated with Oreo cream and crumbled Oreo cookie bits on the outside. The shake itself has whipped cream with a cherry on top. Oh did I mention the chocolate chip cookie and Oreo inside? How about the cookies blended with ice cream? Suffice to say, he didn't come close to finishing in spite of a tiny bit of help from me and a valiant effort nonetheless. Definitely going back for the veggie burger if not the rest! read more

I was really excited to come here because I'd heard about the giant milkshakes. However, I was kind of disappointed. We shared a Black & White milkshake, which is an oreo milkshake with whipped cream, a cookie, an oreo, and a cherry on top. While it was amazing in appearance, it didn't actually taste that great. I also got a veggie burger with gouda and the "fancy" sauce (Sriracha mayo) and it was good, but I wasn't overly impressed. It started tasting very dry as I kept eating it, and the although the fancy sauce is Sriracha mayo, it surprisingly lacked flavor. Overall, everything was also very overpriced. I would give this place a B- . I had never heard of Burger Batch before but was overall pleased with my experience. The burgers were good and cooked the way we requested. The Manmen and the Bluesky. I don't know if I would order the bluesky again bc it was just kinda a sloppy mess and I really tasted the mustard the most. I would skip the mustard or get mayo if you order it. The zucchini chips were good while they were hot but as they cooled the saltiness was overwhelming. Same for the fries. The Pepsi tasted weird to me but was replaced with sweet tea which was fine. Luckily there was no wait and the food came to the table quickly. The wait staff was friendly. I did not like the decor. All the white chairs were filthy. You could see the dust and dirt build up on the chairs which is very off putting. If I check this place out again it will be the High Point location. read more
