Sluna Restaurant & Bar in Cliffside Park was recommended to me by my girlfriend while we were out for a walk. The location is quite inconspicuous and could be termed a hole in the wall, but we were eager to try their pupusas after hearing they were made nearby.
The restaurant was nearly empty when we arrived, with only a couple of individuals at the bar and a small party at a table. The waiter swiftly greeted us and advised us of the menu. We ordered four of each type of pupusa (Frijol y Queso and Revueltas) and a tamal. However, we were shocked when our order took about an hour to arrive, despite the fact that the restaurant was not particularly busy. While we waited, we noticed other items being sent out for delivery or pickup, but we never received an update on our order.
When we eventually got our dinner, we were pleasantly surprised to discover that the pupusas and tamal were delicious. Perhaps we were just hungry, but the taste was delicious. After our food arrived, the server was attentive, but we would have appreciated more communication during the lengthy wait. We also had to pay in cash, despite the fact that the sign outside claimed they accepted all cards, which was inconvenient and just a piece of a paper on the wall said cash only
Sluna Restaurant & Bar was a unique dining experience. Based on our wait time and lack of communication about our order, it appears to be a better option to order for delivery or pickup rather than dining in. read more
