Nestled between barber shows and beauty salons Rage put the old main Street of Blackrock back on the map with a selection of other spots opening up alongside it. I think it deserves 5 stars for no other reason than they always welcome you with a smile and give you a welcome as if you were thier first ever customer. The food is fantastic and portions are more than you probably need but you can't help yourself, as you reach for that last chip. The menu has something for everyone and I brought some of the most fussy eaters there and they left happy and raving about the place. The nachos and chicken tenders are probably my two favourite dishes, though they are both starters I am sure if you ask for a mains portion they will accommodate you. I don't think many people know, but they also offer a take out service once you are willing to collect and I am more than happy to do the food run in this case. It still has some areas to polish and give it that final shine but that is also part of the appeal of this little gem.

We had heard of this new restaurant in the heart of Blackrock and decided to try it and we were…read moresuitably impressed. The staff were very welcoming friendly and helped explain things on the menu to us. Throughout the meal the waiters were keen to ensure everything was good and even the head chef came out and checked how we enjoyed our meal and for any suggestions as to how to improve the dining experience. The decor & ambience was lovely, clean, modern & relaxing. Food wise we tried a few things (more than we should have really): the matka puri (absolutely gorgeous, light and beautiful mix of textures and flavours) & seekh kebabs (lovely spicy & very filling). For mains we had the Daab Chingri (black tiger prawns in a lightly sweetish sauce - prawns cooked perfectly) & the Dum Biryani (lamb was nice & tender - be a little wary of placing too much of the accompanying sauce on as it's quite spicy!). We also tried the andhra aloo (potato - the one dish that didn't inspire us) and the gobi anardana (cauliflower- which was really lovely). All in all we were left feeling rather full but having enjoyed a very nice meal in pleasant surroundings cooked by a chef who clearly loves what he does & attentive staff - we'll be back !!

It's nice dim lighting with plenty of comfortable booths to sit in. The garden area is perfect for having a drink on a sunny day. There is also foosball and a pool table to keep you entertained. They also have a big projector that plays any big sports games that are on at the time. The cocktails are really delicious with a wide selection at competitive prices. So for interior/leisure/drinks I would give it a 4.5/5. However I thought the food was pretty average. I got wings which were pretty dry and tasteless. The sweet potato fries were good but not the best I've had. My friend had a burger which she claimed wasn't great either. Therefore I would highly recommend this place for a few drinks and some light bites but I wouldn't choose it as my go-to restaurant for a hangover meal. I would prefer it's sister restaurant The Counter.

It's got nice beer and really good food. The burgers where massive. Ok the beard bun was abit flimsy but the burger filled me right up. Seems to draw in a nice well kept crowd so that's really nice. Food menu stops at 10pm and around then I noticed the place started to empty around then too. Which is a shame but there is other places nearby when the crowd thins out. Still I'll be back for more food and drink :)

The Old Punch Bowl - Beef & Guinness Pie (€23.50)

The exterior has that classic brick-and-wood look you'd expect, hinting at a cozy, timeless space inside. Once you step in, low ceilings, vintage décor, and warm wood tones create a welcoming, traditional pub atmosphere, as football matches play on TV screens overhead, and the fireplace crackles in the corner. It's lively but not overwhelming, with chatter and music that feel proper for drinks and casual dining. At 8:30pm on a Friday night, our party of ten wanted a traditional Irish pub dinner (our first in the country). The pub was about ¾ full, but with some clever table rearrangement from the flexible waitstaff, we were able to be immediately seated. The menu is classic pub fare (fried appetizers and hearty entrees) - food and drinks aren't cheap by American standards, but given the ambiance, it hits the expected value. I ordered their Beef & Guinness Pie (€23.50), which is a hearty beef stew topped with a flaky piece of puff pastry. The dish comes with fries, though they were more than willing to substitute a salad at no additional cost; the salad tasted fresh, although I think it had a bit too much mayonnaise. The stew itself was warming and perfect for a chilly January night, with huge chunks of lean yet tender beef, simmered vegetables, and a savory broth with a hint of that classic Guinness flavor. I wish the puff pastry on top were flakier and less flat, though it was tasty when dipped in the stew. While it's a steep price for a pub entree, it's an incredibly large portion that I could barely finish, with a generous helping of meat. Another delicious dish was their Beer Battered Cod & Chips (€23.50), consisting of an expertly-fried large piece of cod with a perfectly-crispy exterior, chips, salad, and mushy peas. Their chips are thick-cut with a crunchy skin, yet tender, soft interior, and great when paired with their tangy, mayonnaise-based sauce. This is a lovely spot for generously-portioned pub fare in the charming neighborhood of Booterstown, and I'm more than willing to pay a premium for its fun, laid-back atmosphere, fast and friendly service, and tasty dishes; we'll certainly be returning to attend one (or more) of their various themed nights!

Overall, such a cool find and great place to visit when in the area!
