The Fox & Hounds Restaurant & Tavern - Sauteed vegetable pasta

The Fox & Hounds Restaurant & Tavern

Had a wonderful meal at the Fox and Hounds restaurant last night! 18 of us and our server Amanda…read morewas awesome! Their BOGO entrees made this so affordable almost everyone went home with leftovers so portion sizes are great. I highly recommend the Fox's Feast appetizer for a group. We ordered 2 and still had some leftovers. All in all it was a great choice and experience.

Have come here occasionally over the last 40 years. As a matter of fact, it was one of the first…read morerestaurants I took my wife to when we started dating. It's an iconic spot that still seems to have a strong following of loyal customers. We came with another couple who also have a long history of dining here. Food: It is most definitely a traditional supper club, but without the relish tray. The menu has a large selection of seafood, steaks, salads, and a few other assorted entrées. We settled on a rib steak for me and the scallops and pasta for her. Before the entrées, we each had a side salad, which came with a couple of nice-sized loaves of warm bread. A delicious start to the meal. The entrées arrived without much delay. The rib steak was cooked to my liking, medium rare, and had nice flavor. It was a little tough, but I'm the kind of person who doesn't mind a bit of chew. My wife would not have enjoyed it. Her scallops and pasta were good; however, there was the occasional bit of sand grit. Both meals had good flavor and portions large enough to require to-go containers. Service: We had terrific service the entire evening. I would say that Lisa was the most kind and helpful server I've had here. She made sure we were well cared for, kept our drinks refreshed, and checked that everything was to our liking. Thanks, Lisa. Atmosphere: To me, it doesn't seem like much has changed over the last 40 years. The place has received a lot of TLC. It has a genuine warmth to it. The rooms, and there are many, have character and classic charm. I'm not a big fan of the "buy one, get one" pricing. I understand that restaurants have to charge enough to make money, no issue there. For me, simply stating the price for each meal would be my preference. It's still a wonderful, iconic restaurant that we love to return to.

West Bend Cinema - Part of the black frame around the movie screen in auditorium 5 was torn and you could see a large section of plywood behind it

West Bend Cinema

I appreciate West Bend Cinema because it's not a Marcus Theater, which dominates the movie theater…read morescene in Wisconsin. They show most of the same movies that Marcus does, but once in awhile they'll have something Marcus doesn't or they'll have more convenient showtimes. Ticket prices are a bit cheaper at West Bend Cinema and I think their leather chairs are more comfortable than what Marcus has. The building itself is in serious need of maintenance though. For example, part of the black frame around the movie screen in auditorium 5 was torn and you could see a large section of plywood behind it. Also, there were multiple buckets on the floor in the hallway to catch water that was leaking through the roof and the ceiling tiles above the buckets looked really crappy like this had been happening for a while. I hope ownership is able to fix things up so it can keep this place going as long as possible.

I recently went to see Twisters at this theater. I had not been to a theater in over twenty years…read more Titanic was the last time.:) I enjoyed this experience. Even with having to change the screening as the system was down from the global outage. The theater made good on getting people into seeing the next showing or refunds. I decided to stay. The theater was cleaner than expected as they are short-staffed like many businesses. Everyone on the staff I encountered was friendly and helpful. I liked the recliner seating as made seeing a movie more comfortable and homey. The Popcorn was fresh. You get a free refill of your drink and popcorn. I will be back to see more movies.
