The performers sang songs from many of the top broadway shows from over the last 20 or 30 years. Most of them were from very recent shows like Wicked, American Idiot, and Rent. I have attended other music and theatre performances at The Schauer Center and have always been impressed with the quality talent that they bring in. Other favorites were Late Night Catechism, To Kill A Mockingbird, and Chapter 6 an a cappella singing group. The facility itself is really cool. They did such a nice job turing an old building into an arts center, while preserving the history and look of the building. One of my best friends had their wedding reception at The Schauer Center and we all had a great time. It's such a cool building to have a wedding in.

For a percussion based musical performance, the sound in the Cabot Theater was just perfect. No matter the volume level, it was always perfectly clear and balanced. This theater seats about 350 seats with two level of boxes. It's a beautiful homage to an 18th century European opera. I was very happy with how roomy the seats were. The evening began on a festive note as the Germantown Band welcomed the crowd, immediately setting a warm and celebratory tone for the show. The band also returned during intermission, providing enjoyable live music that kept the holiday spirit alive throughout the evening. Best known for his Emmy Award-winning work on PBS, McGivern brought the same warmth, humor, and authenticity to the stage that viewers have enjoyed for years on Around the Corner and John McGivern's Main Streets. His Christmas show blended laugh-out-loud moments with touching reflections drawn from his upbringing as one of six children in a working-class Midwestern Irish Catholic family. For many in the audience, his stories truly hit home. The themes of family dynamics, traditions, faith, and everyday moments were deeply relatable, especially for those raised in Midwestern Catholic households. McGivern's ability to find humor in shared experiences made the performance both genuinely funny and emotionally resonant. The performance felt intimate and inviting, as if he were welcoming the audience into his own living room for the holidays. John McGivern's Christmas show was a joyful, comforting, and meaningful way to celebrate the season. Supported by the festive contributions of the Germantown Band, the evening left the audience smiling, reflective, and filled with holiday spirit long after the final curtain.

Everyone was beyond incredible in their respective performances. The PAC was so clean, which is great, unlike so many theaters I've been to; this was a refreshing change. The acoustics were great, and we sat in the middle row in front of the stage, maybe 6 rows back. Adequate lighting, friendly staff, and efficient ways to get people served quickly during the intermission were great highlights. Another area of appreciation was upon check-in. There's a pillow area to the left on the floor. Need one to boost a child, for example? Take it and bring it back after the play is over. This was oddly one of the more memorable things about the PAC--we have been to a few, but none where they have these nice pillows to give you a boost if you're a little shorter. The seating was comfortable, and there was enough legroom to endure the entire play without getting sore. Ensure you realize there's no food and drink inside the theater area, but you can have it outside while mingling with others in the lobby.

They open up early before the performances to allow guests to grab a drink, snack, or mingle with others. There is a couple bar and snack area open to purchase items. TLDR: Sound Bites Dinner: 4/10 MSO performance and experience: 10/10 We arrived 90 minutes early for the Sound Bites dinner and were seated at our own table in a separate section of the dining area. The tables were huge for two people and I felt a little far away from my husband. Everyone was seated and a little confused on how the dinner was going to go. We snacked on some hors d'oeuvres and got our drinks before dinner was served. There were crackers, cheese, vegetables, salmon bruschetta, a salad, and vichyssoise (potato soup). Soon after, we were served our appetizer, ratatouille, which was very good. Next was beef and fries with some sauce, then a pork chop and piece of casserole to share. It was difficult to know what we were eating as they only thing we were told what it was, was the ratatouille. Also, about halfway through the dinner our waitress that we had disappeared and another person came to to serve us. We were kind of getting ready to leave, since she wasn't there, but then another person came out to give us more food. The whole experience lacked information. We weren't given a menu of what we were eating before we starting eating, we were only told what one dish was, and we weren't sure how many courses/plates of food we would be getting. It would be nice to get an email leading up, a print out, or at the very least told what we would be eating to prepare. We ended up not eating a lot of the last dish since we had filled up on the others, thinking that was it. The food was mediocre, and I was not sure how it was chosen, by what the performance is? seasonal items? It would've been cool if the chef came out and announced anything. I would've been more satisfied going to the food and beverage cart and not doing the formal dinner. It wrapped up about 5 minutes before we headed to our seats, due to the delays with the waitstaff and no one knowing if we needed to stay for another surprise plate of food. I would not do the Sound bites experience again. The performance hall is a beautiful restoration and space. The seats are comfortable and have enough space. We sat on the lower level and had a great view of the stage and move screen. I would like to try sitting up on the balcony to see all of the performers. The whole performance was great, we had a special guest appearance from Massamba Diop, playing the Senegalese talking drum that is featured in the film.
