The layout inside is perfect too as you can see your little one from pretty much any part of the room. There are two areas set off to the side of the large room that the really tiny kids can play. All of their toys and equipment were in good shape. Our little ones really had a good time and asked to come back.

There are hiking trails all over the park, with numerous foot bridges that criss cross the river itself. There are stands of trees, and plenty of prairie and other habitat to enjoy along the trails. I enjoy the Milwaukee River access to wade or fish from shore for smallmouth bass. The river is usually shallow enough through most of this stretch that you can wade it without having to get out of the streambed too often.

But you will have to pay for food, parking, rides, pony rides, etc. If you're like me and just enjoy animals, you could almost come here and not spend any money... lol We were able to find street parking close by. We had a little walk to the fair, but I'm good for walking. All the animals were up close and personal, and so much more accessible than at the state fair. There were tons of food vendors and all the food you want at a county fair. We ended up eating at the clover cafe, because it was air conditioned and indoors, but the food there was meh. But cheap! $5.75 for a 1/3 lb cheeseburger! But it wasn't very well seasoned, and the "fried onions" on it definitely needed a little more cooking done to merit the "fried" part. Hot dog was only $4, and it was similar to the Costco hot dog. So would I eat here again? No, I'll spend the $14 to get a burger from a vendor just across the street in the fair, unless I'm with older friends who need air conditioning. For $3, you can get a cup of animal feed to pet some goats and llama and lambs, etc. For $10, there is a camel ride, but it will only take you twice around a small area (it's over in under 5 minutes). Pony rides for kids merry-go-round style also available. I had fun just watching other people enjoying the rides, while rubbing pig noses and feeding baby goats. We came in the morning, but wish I had stayed for the evening shows and music. Definitely planning another year!

It looked like mostly families enjoying the sunshine and the ability to go to an outdoor event. Great for the person that wants to experience a fair but not be overwhelmed; however, I would suggest attending during the day on weekdays to avoid a potentially large crowd. It really isn't anything spectacular, except that it is one of the last free fairs in Wisconsin. I do hope it remains that way in years to come.

Lion's Den in Grafton is a peaceful and scenic spot right along Lake Michigan. The park has a nice pavilion area and clean, well-kept bathrooms, which makes it comfortable for longer visits. Throughout the trails and overlooks, there are several benches dedicated in memory of loved ones. These add a very touching and reflective feel to the experience and make it more than just a hike--it's a place to slow down and appreciate the moment. Overall, it's a beautiful, quiet place for nature, reflection, and lake views, and definitely worth a visit if you're in the area.

There is a paved trail which isn't too long, but is ADA compliant so that's a plus. We did a three mile loop, checking out the bluffs and taking the stairs down to the secluded little beach. Lots of poison ivy....which is normal to the area, but really it's best to avoid it by staying on trail and covering up. Seemed like leashed and/or well behaved dogs were welcome. Worth checking out.

We visited here for the last Flea Market of the year. It was early October, a bit cool with…read moreintermittent rain, but that didnt stop us from having a most excellent time poking around indoors and out, honing our negotiation skills, and oohing and aahhing at the variety of nostalgic, bygone items. It took us approximately 2 hours to wander the entire grounds, during which time some outdoor vendors laid down straw in their areas to provide a less muddy walk. My friend said on a sunny day during the peak season, you could easily spend all day meandering the grounds. Good thing a number of vendors were selling food, including coffee, kettlecorn and cheese curds to name a few. We had a blast viewing the beautiful, the bizarre and the bodacious. What a fun event!
