There are hiking trails all over the park, with numerous foot bridges that criss cross the river itself. There are stands of trees, and plenty of prairie and other habitat to enjoy along the trails. I enjoy the Milwaukee River access to wade or fish from shore for smallmouth bass. The river is usually shallow enough through most of this stretch that you can wade it without having to get out of the streambed too often.

(3 July visit) I forgot that I posted these pictures without a review. I hadn't been here since I…read morewas early teens, so it was about 25+ years. The fishing has not changed, as the blue gill bite within 10 seconds when you fish around the pavilion as you first enter the park. That day was the first time that we took the trail all the way down to the next pavilion about a quarter mile or more down the trail, fishing success all along the way. The facilities are well kept and the families and summer school kids seemed to enjoy all that is offered at the park. We'll be back next fishing season to slay some more blue gills and fire up a grill.

The inflatables are HUGE--slides, climbing spots, and even a swing that had us laughing like kids. The whole area is great for a full day out. There are picnic tables if you want to bring lunch, a concessions stand for snacks, a splash pad for the little ones, and a regular swimming area if you just want to relax. Everything felt clean and well-maintained, and the staff was super friendly and safety-focused (life jackets for everyone). At $8 per person for a two-hour session, it's such an affordable family outing compared to other water attractions. We'll definitely be back--it's the perfect mix of fun, exercise, and summer vibes

The park offers tiered parking and we always choose the closest possible Parking as there have been car break ins that occurred in the farthest lost when we've been here. Hopefully an isolated event! The lake has a clean spacious beach area with two shaded benches and lots of picnic tables to store your belongings or hold a bbq while the kids swim. There is a fishing pier and the lake hosts a lot of canoeing and kayaking. There also is a nearby upgraded playground with bathrooms. Located between West Bend and Fredonia your bound to run into neighbors or friends here if your from either area!

Also, bring your bug spray! A lot of the trail is wooded, and there were lots of flies and gnats. We also saw two Cranes in the woods. That was a sweet, unexpected moment. There also is a beautiful barn, which is used for weddings and, I'm sure other events. It would be a lovely venue to hold your wedding. We noticed they are building a children's playground on the property as well. Which looks like it's going to be adorable when it's finished! We really enjoyed our hike. It is not strenuous, and you can take many different trails. Would do it again in fall!

There is a wide array of animals and many are native here in Wisconsin. I've uploaded some pics of the animals we saw today, and as a little bonus you get a free ice cream when you leave. The sanctuary seems to be caught up in some kind of legal battle to save their zoo. Some of the neighbors drew up a complaint and you see the "We support Shalom" signs all through the area and we made sure to pick up our Save Shalom T-shirts in the gift shop. On another note, we had some old freezer burned meat in our freezer, I called ahead and they do take raw meat donations

The mounds are a weedy mess. you can barely see them with all the brush and overgrowth. I don't understand why this isn't maintained better. The pavilion is nice but the interactive display is broken. there is one portapotty in the rough that anyone with a disability would struggle to get to. We study the mounds throughout the Midwest and this is the worst condition we have seen.
