This is an interesting flea market. We went on a Saturday morning. Admission is free and there is…read morea decent parking lot and clean rest room facilities. There were over a hundred dealers set up with a mixture local produce, baked goods, antiques, household goods and junk. In addition, there are about 6-7 food trucks serving tacos, smoothies and fair type foods. There is an indoor market with specialty dealers. We arrived early and filled the car with treasures. The local produce was really nice with decent prices. I picked up a delicious cantaloupe. I also bought some flowers. Most of the dealers were interesting and friendly. It took about 90 minutes to go through everything. The walk ways are uneven, I tripped at least once, so be careful. Pets are not allowed (but I saw several dogs). All the dealers I talked with were cash only sales.

Gordonsville Antique and Flea Market is the real deal!…read more Set in some sort of old steel building and looking a bit "budget" from the outside, it would be easy to dismiss this place and keep driving by - especially when you're headed towards Culpepper, which is decidedly more upscale. Even downtown Gordonsville has a few nicer looking antique stores. But don't be fooled. The proprietor of this place is a real Civil War buff, and he's got a great collection of things for sale. The last time I was in there I noted many interesting daguerrotypes, a few Civil War era handguns (including a derringer, a nice pin fire revolver and a Colt of some description), plenty of dug artifacts, and enough other curiosities to keep my interest for a good long while. He's a friendly fellow and willing to share his expertise, and I make a point of stopping by there every time I drive through now - for the education, if nothing else. So the Civil War stuff is kept up at the front, understandably under close eye. The rest of the store has the usual "rented booths" for people to sell all manner of antiques. Again, I was a bit surprised with the quality of the items I was seeing. As is usually the case, one has to patiently wade through a lot of junk to find the treasures, but they're there and they're reasonably priced. If I had to lump this place into a certain "category", I'd say that it's the kind of place where you go in without expectation and come out delighted with some ersatz find that you would never have anticipated. First the deets: The Civitan Flea Market is open on the first Saturday of every month from April - October from 8am - noon. It's in the garage of the Washington-Lee HS. And it is AMAZEBALLS. It's a flea market that specializes in vintage stuff. I think there is a requirement that at least 50% of the table has to be vintage/antique - which means a lot of super great finds, if you're into that stuff (and I am). 1) When you first arrive, you're going to say "oh I don't know why this is such a big deal?" and that's only because you don't realize that there are FOUR LEVELS to this garage. 2) Bring a flashlight - because there is almost no extra lighting - and you'll want to get a better look at some of this stuff. 3) Bring cash. No, none of the vendors have Square readers. Cash. Serious. 4) Don't be afraid to bargain. Actually, our friends and I make a game of this - we go off and buy stuff, and when we get back for mimosa brunch at their house afterwards - we have to tell how much the item was supposed to be, and how much we got it for. 5) Bring bags. Lots and lots of bags. You know those bags that you use for Whole Foods? Yeah, bring those. And more. Because holycrap. If you love vintage - you'll love this. A lot of digging through, a lot of hunting for a good deal - but OMG, I have come home with so much stuff......and I love every single piece more and more with each passing day.

I have been to this Front Royal Flea Market location while passing thru town a few times since…read more2015, and keep coming away with the same experience of "meh", not that impressed each time. Seems to be a location with no real focus or quality to offer or worth returning to. Mostly the location has a series of "U-shaped" plywood vendor stalls, that sellers show up daily, and populate with 'whatever' strikes a fancy! We have noticed that most items appear to be charitable-donation level personal clothing, effects, and recycled discarded items. Some sellers don't even bother to conceal the donation bags they have removed from charitable donation bins. The sellers who have produce & food items are not fresh, largely appear to be expired, or obtained from chain sellers per the boxing and packaging they are presented in. Healthcare products as well, appear to be expired and/or discarded items from retail. I would have say this location is more of a curiosity than a flea market.
