Wherever you sit, you'll feel the warmth of this place from the friendly staff and beers offered. The standouts on the menu are definitely the birria tacos and baja fish tacos. The tacos are warm and crunchy in side out. I thought the menu is pretty creative by offering the White Boy Taco as an option which might be taken the wrong way. In any case, its a nice hangout place for the local good ol' boys and out of towners 'coz they're open till midnight or 2 am five days a week for some serious merry making.

The service however .... Our server was a tad bit rude. We sat at a table by the door while we waited on a table . He walked up and rudely stated ... you can't sit at a table while waiting on a table and walked off. I get it. It's not what you do but how you do it. His tone was the problem. Besides there was no one else waiting to be seated at a table for 2. The restaurant is really cutesy with a bar vibe. I giving them a 4 star only because of our server. Hey manager and server read up on giving someone the pickle. It might help when training or just working on a service industry. I usually tip minimum 18% but definitely not tipping that tonight. He waited on us after which was awkward especially since we were sitting at the same table he told us to get up from. He did well with serving but pre service blew it for him. Smile and watch your tone young man. Kindness goes a long way.

The rolls are delicious. The Shrimp Alfredo was good but not the best that I've had. I will be back to try other menu items. The only thing that I was sad about is that you can't order bread to- go.

We tried a Seafood combo #1, which was... surprising. It was a white wine sauce with clams, mussels, and shrimp over angel hair pasta. The surprising part was that it used what was really more of a broth than a sauce. The dish was more like a noodle soup, which was unexpected. The flavor was good though! I wouldn't order it again since I don't usually order pasta expecting a soup, but it wasn't bad! We also got the linguini carbonera. It used ham though; usually, I'd prefer pancetta, but thought I could give it a try anyway. This dish wasn't bad, but it was also a bit disappointing. Using ham for the dish did it the most disservice. Ham doesn't have enough fat content to add flavor to the dish. They also did not use enough aged cheese, instead, they used heavy cream to compensate for it. A lot of restaurants do this to cut down on costs, but it truly affects the quality of the dish. Without enough cheese, the flavor was not deep enough. However, the cream added plenty of richness. We tried the Supreme Pizza. It was good! The crust was perfect, and it was loaded with toppings and mozzerella cheese. A no frills standard pizza!

It took an hour to get our food. 2 of our 4 entrees were wrong. The portion size of the salmon was small compared to the price and that entree was completely wrong. I have high blood pressure and trying to eat healthy. When I get what was supposed to be only salmon and steamed broccoli it was covered it something my high blood pressure diet doesn't allow me to eat. My wife ordered grilled mahi mahi tacos, no black beans sub w/ fries. So naturally only on of the tacos was correct and she still got black beans. They did give her the fries for free after the mistake was mentioned but the lack of attention to the details is ridiculous. The free fries is the only thing keeping this review higher than one star. To the management team: Fix this problem. Learn how to lead people and get rid of the ones who won't fall in line. To the servers: You complain about low wages and get mad when you don't get the tip you feel you deserve. Earn it.

Our server brought our drinks, took our order, and then vanished into the walls. There was a large party in the side room that seemed to have sucked up all the available waitstaff in the building. Random servers kept popping over to our table at odd intervals to check on us, but there really was no service after that point. We waited over ten minutes to get our check, after sitting there staring at empty plates for over ten minutes. My wife spoke to a manager and got neither an explanation nor an apology. It was apparent the guaranteed 20% gratuity tacked on to the large party was obviously larger than the gratuity I would have left, so I didn't bother to leave one. I don't know which "server" would have gotten it anyway. The hostess at the door who seated us provided the best service of anyone. Note: in my entire life (56 years) I have walked out of a restaurant FOUR times without leaving a tip. This was the fourth. I will look for any reason to leave at least a small gratuity, but this time there was simply not one. Not going so far as to leave a 1-star review, but I was tempted. I hate to do that almost as much as I hate not leaving a tip.

I had the Linguine Del Mar, which comes with a small salad. And it was so yummy! It also looked amazing. I also asked for my water to be put in a wine glass and my waitress was happy to do it. Bread was brought to my table right before my food came out, which I appreciated. The portions are pretty big, so I took the rest of the meal home with me. I ordered a cannoli to go, and didn't expect it to have chocolate drizzled on it but it was a good combination. I'll definitely be returning to Joe's!

Nothing specific, just a lot of little things that kept it from being great. The restaurant was busy, but we got a table with no wait. Our waitress was trying hard but fell short. Watching other servers at the tables around us, I think she was new. Not a huge deal - everybody is a beginner at some point - but it diminishes the overall. The food was good but not great. Perhaps a little pricey, but not extremely so. Some of the old favorite menu items I expected to see were not on the menu, mainly the pasta & sauce & cheese stuff. Baked ziti is a personal favorite, and the only way it was offered was in a combo with other things. No ravioli except the kind stuffed with seafood. The lasagna and spaghetti & meatballs seem tacked on the menu like an afterthought. I didn't see any menu items that I can't get anywhere else. Stiff competition in this category - there are some very good Italian restaurants in Slidell. That said, Joe's definitely has the potential to be a solid 4-stars. It's a new location, maybe it was a bad night, who knows? I will certainly go back and give them another shot, so I recommend them. Go try it and see for yourself.
