The rooms are small but well provisioned with a comfortable mattress, extra towels, TV, and USB plugs near the bed. The bathroom amenities are a legitimate highlight- spa quality and smell amazing. Walking distance to shops, coffee, bars. Nice variety of chains (Poundland, Costa, Spoons) and local (Taproom, Tom's Cakes, more) and a bunch of well stocked charity shops. The view over the river is splendid and plenty of nice walks for those who want to wander.

The hallways are very narrow, the staircases to the rooms are steep. Don't overpack or bring large luggage! Otherwise, it was comfortable and clean with many modern amenities. My suitcase was too heavy for me and the nice young man, Jake, assisted me. There is also a very good restaurant downstairs and the fish and chips were delicious.

Yes, The Dolphin provides the booze to fuel that behaviour as well. Each and every weekend, this location and another nearby establishment, The Taproom, pollute this community with noise and facilitate drunkenness and anti-social behavior that is simply unacceptable. Shame on the owners and managers of these two locations for actively ruining this community. Although it's clear that you add an economic benefit to the local community, can we achieve some sort of compromise with perhaps some reasonable quiet hours? We feared the worst, but actually it was ok. We had a room at the back, and didn't hear any traffic. We asked for extra towels at reception (receptionist was very very helpful). Room looked pretty clean, sheets had holes, but were clean. Plenty of parking, although it's a busy road and a short slip road to rejoin the road. Very handy for Cambridge

If you are coming from the Cambridge city centre, you can do a u-turn by coming off at Cambridge services and crossing the A14 there. Also, please note that the hotel itself is not visible from the road until it's too late to turn off, so watch out for the hand car wash or Little Chef instead. The hotel is situated just behind those two. There is ample car parking in front of the building. The Travelodge chain itself operates like the budget airlines, the earlier you book the cheaper it's likely to be, so book extraearly for nights when there's an event in town. It offers great value but basic accommodation. Extras such as an early check in or late check out have to be paid for separately and breakfast is not included in the price (there is a Little Chef just across the car park). The ensuite rooms are all clean and tidy, but offer no luxuries such as a minibar - you can ask for an iron and hairdryer at reception for which they do not charge extra. Unfortunately the mattresses in the beds are very soft, which is not good if you suffer from a bad back. Due to the traffic noise I would ask for a room to the back.
