Why do I love Sleep Rover so much? Because not only are they wonderful in every way, but there is nothing better than a dead dog on a Wednesday night after a long day of work among many many many other reasons. Sleep Rover offers day care and sleep rovers, both of which we have used. Before we brought our dogs there for the first time, I went in and asked for a tour. I have been to other facilities in town who don't seem as open to this. The friendly girls at Sleep Rover answered all of my questions. One of my most important ones was if there is anyone there overnight. And there is! You may think this would always be the case, but it's not at other places in town. For me, I want the security of knowing there are people around my lemon dog, and not just a security guard watching on a cctv from another location (another place in Calgary). At Sleep Rover they have the hound lounge - filled with couches, doggy beds, and a tv, making it just like home. This is where our dog get's the most of his play-time though. Big dogs have their own area, with a big jungle-gym type thing for them to run, climb, and play on. Small dogs have a miniature version. All dogs rotate outside where there's the huge gravel pit, more ramps and things to climb, or where they can soak up the sun. In the summer they have pool days just like we have at home. Overall a very interactive daycare area compared to others in town. Rover's birthday? Let them know. They get a "Birthday Pawrty" with cupcake during the day, and a card to go home with. - See pics! At the end of the day we get cute little cards saying what our boys did that day. Need to update their vaccination records? Sleep Rover puts a sticker on there to remind you. What do you do with those cards afterwards? Cut out the 'V.I.D.' pass and put it in the raffle box next time you're there to win great prizes. Need some food? They sell good quality brands. Anyone who knows me knows I am extremely careful about what we feed our dogs. They stay up to date on the products they sell and always keep customers posted. Need anything else? I mean ANYTHING... grooming? dog bed? collar? tag? lumberjack vest? frozen yogurt for your pooch? poop bags? Get it here. I think I spend more money on stuff for our dogs than I do myself. I think my cheapest bill here was $100. That has nothing to do with the prices, it's just that they carry cute, fun, awesome, different things that you don't find anywhere else (and I am a bit of an impulse shopper). What is the best part about the next day? I'm not sure if it's the still tired dog, or if it's scrolling through the hundreds of photos they post on facebook. Yes, every day they take hundreds of pics and post them late at night so you can see what your dog was up to all day. Prices are the best we have found in town for 2 dogs. You also get a discount if you are part of the I HEART MY PET rewards program that you get from the city. WE LOVE SLEEP ROVER!

One of the many pics they posted of the day my dog was there. Look at that smile ;)

I love this place and the girls that work here. I've only dropped my dog off for a trial day before our upcoming trip but I've never seen him so exhausted and happy! When I got him I could tell he had been playing all day with the drool on his head and the exhausted look of him. I absolutely love that they take pictures every day and post them on their Facebook page too so you can check out the great time your dog had. Will definitely be checking in on Facebook to see what my pooch is up to when I'm away :) great place but book early, they fill up! And I really love that they have a free trial day- means that they know the dogs there that I'm putting my dog with and made me feel more at ease for our up coming 10 day trip.

I originally used the Killarney location, where my dog's nails were cut past the quick. I was not informed of this at pickup. While driving home, I noticed blood throughout the back seat and immediately took my dog to the emergency vet. Although accidents can happen, the visit resulted in just over two hundred dollars in veterinary fees and caused ongoing anxiety for my dog during grooming appointments. When I contacted the location, I was told the bleeding had been stopped sufficiently for pickup, though the hair cut appeared incomplete and uneven. After this incident, I was uncomfortable returning to that location and attempted grooming at home. Eventually, I found a groomer who worked well with my dog, but she later moved away. Out of necessity, I scheduled an appointment at the downtown Petropolitan location. A groom two months ago went well, and my dog showed no signs of distress afterward. I had an appointment scheduled for 9:00 a.m. today. Last night, I received a call advising that another client had cancelled and was asked if I could bring both dogs at 10:30 a.m. instead, which I agreed to. Overnight, one of my dogs became ill, and given the circumstances, I called to cancel the appointment to avoid bringing a sick dog, and another dog living in close contact with him, into a facility with other animals. During the cancellation call, I was told the appointment was still scheduled for 9:00 a.m. and was met with skepticism when I explained the time change. I was also told that I had a history of multiple cancellations, which I questioned, as I had not used their services for approximately a year and a half. I was then advised that the sick dog's appointment could be cancelled but that I should still bring in the other dog, despite explaining the illness and shared household exposure. I was informed that failing to do so would result in a cancellation fee. I was transferred to a supervisor, who apologized for the interaction but reiterated the cancellation policy and continued to question the appointment change. I asked that the matter be confirmed with the groomers, which was acknowledged. At that point, I requested a call from the owner and was told this would occur at her convenience. Between the two locations, these experiences have raised concerns for me regarding communication, customer service, and health-related practices within the facilities. Additionally, throughout these interactions, I experienced what I perceived to be condescending and dismissive attitudes from staff, which further contributed to my dissatisfaction. The overall handling of these situations was difficult to believe and ultimately concerning enough that I felt compelled to share my experience. I do not typically write reviews; however, given the decisions made and how they were communicated, I believe it is important to warn others. I will also ensure that friends and family who currently use these services are made aware of these concerns so they can make informed decisions regarding their pets' care and the facilities that they are bringing them to and the conditions around them.

She kept him for three hours to ease him into the routine. I'm not sure why, but my dog's hair prior to visiting May was matted. His fur starting growing massively, and it out of control. As a result, May has to cut off his beard, around his ears, and a couple of other problem areas where it was matted. We bought a new brush from May (good price too), to prevent this from happening again. Our puppy was washed, teddy bear cut, nails trimmed, ears cleaned, bum tided up, and with tip and tax, it came up to about $70. Since our dog was a puppy, May gave us a discount, which was much appreciated. I think for more basic services (no fancy haircut), the price is cheaper.
