The Sleep Number company is a scam and their products and services are absolute garbage. I bought a Sleep Number bed for my 85 mother who was moving into a senior living facility. When the technicians dropped of the bed, they noted that the pump wasn't working and an air bladder wasn't working. They didn't have any extra parts to fix the bed that day. I called the Sleep Number customer rep and said that my mother needed a bed to sleep that evening and asked him if the technicians could come back and fix the bed, and he said "that's not going to happen." It would be two weeks before they could come back. At that point I went down to Mancini Sleep world and bought a mattress and platform so my mother had a bed to sleep on. I took the Sleep Number bed to my garage and called Sleep Number to come and pick up the bed. They keep on saying that would deliver the new parts in a couple weeks despite the fact that I told them that I didn't want the bed and that it was in my garage. They finally agreed to pick up only the mattress, but that they had no obligation to pick up the platform. Apparently, under their terms and conditions, you can only return the mattress because in their opinion, you can use the platform on any other mattress. The platform cost $1,500. Plus, they charged me $250 to pick up the mattress. In essence, Sleep Number doesn't back up their products, they don't give you a full refund for your product and they charge you $250 to pick up their defective products. Basically, their beds are expensive air mattresses. I would advise all people who are considering buying a Sleep Number bed to avoid the company. read more

There is a good reason why this store is usually empty - now I know why. I am terribly disappointed with the bed and with the salesperson. The bed loses the number (as in THE sleep number setting) by morning. I had service technicians to the house more than once. They claimed nothing was wrong but one of them says that periodically, he needs to unplug and re-plug his own sleep number bed and set it to 100. He left me wondering if burning incense and rattling chicken bones would be the next "fix-it yourself" recommendation I'd get. Today, I wearily dropping into the Monterey store to be told that when I am in my bed watching tv or reading to adjust the settings to 'private' so the bed wouldn't give a false reading. Why do I have to service the bed instead of expecting the bed to give me good service?? Save your money. This lemon is too expensive at any cost. I could go on an on - but I didn't sleep well last night AGAIN. read more

Great bed, horrible practices. Was trying to exchange bed during 100 day trial. Apparently you have to pay to exchange & once exchange was set up my bed was deactivated because they thought delivery had picked up my old bed. When I'm fact my old bed was still in my bedroom & the new bed hadn't even been scheduled to delivery. My account was credit because they thought they had picked up the bed but they wouldn't activate my account. Keep in mind that the bed is useless unless you have an account, it deflates. Yes you gain more sleep but you lose it dealing with hours of technical support. Sleep number please fix your delivery department & not hold beds for ransom. Edit for comment below. No thanks. I already spent all the "28 more restful night" I had accumulated over the trial period. You get more rest but deal with a headache with customer service. read more

While walking the mall with the grand kids I happened to see some pillows in the window of this store. So we stepped inside to select one. Upon our entry we were greeted by a friendly team member who was quite well trained in the knowledge of these unique beds. I really only wanted a pillow but decided to let him educate me about the ins and outs of these beds. He had me lay on several different beds to test them out. I tried a number of settings and learned that if I were to invest in a bed that the number 48 would be my best sleeping position. Then he really spoiled me by showing the epitome of mattresses version. Something that not only varies the firmness, but has buttons to make the mattress either hot or cold, depending on your room temperature. Since I live in the desert, where our summer temps reach 112 almost daily, I could really appreciate that cold setting on the bed. I almost actually caved in to buy one, but the grand kids reminded me that we were there to buy a pillow and not a bed. So I put down my credit card and purchased one of the best pillows I have ever owned. I know that hot and cold bed is something I really want, and I know someday I will be sleeping on one. That salesperson really taught me a lot about mattresses. read more

There's more to buying a mattress than described in Consumer Reports, in our case the Sleep Number Split King i8 360 Smart Bed plus 360 FlexFit 2 Base. First, the Sleep Number salesman told us several times that the "bed" could be returned without mentioning that the motorized base, almost half the purchase price in our case, could not. Sleep Number is an unusual mattress design and needs to be tried first. Second, the salesman assured us that we could reuse our very nice completely standard size king bed frame. False. The installer told us that Sleep Number salesmen do this all the time. Third, the strong mattress degassing smell drove us into another bedroom for two weeks. Even now in the fifth week, we can still smell the mattress. This problem could have been solved if the manufacturer wrapped the mattress in the cloth and stored it before shipping. Irrespective of quality, deceptive salesmanship equals unacceptable product in my view. read more

It is said that as we go through the various stages of aging, our sleep needs change. Whatever you want to label it, we definitely needed something different to sleep on. I did some research on the best beds and Sleep Number always rated among the top five on every list. We had a queen Sleep Number in our RV a number of years ago and loved it but for some reason, never thought of buying one for home. The Seaside location was closest for us and "Brain," (his name was Brian Day but his name tag was misspelled) the "Sleep Professional" who helped us was wonderful. There's something a little uncomfortable about going into a store and just lying on beds, tossing and rolling around in front of strangers, but Brian put us at ease immediately. Another plus (for me) was that Brian was a person of size (like me) and assured us that Sleep Number beds weren't going to pop, leak, or explode because of excess weight. He had one at home (of course) and had no problems ;) In all, we "tested" 4 beds until we found the one we ultimately purchased. We ended up with the Cal King iLE, a limited edition that incorporated all the current Sleep Number innovations without breaking the budget. The promised 25-year limited warranty and the "Comfort Service," Home Delivery and Setup remain to be seen since we won't get our bed for about two weeks but I'll review that at a later time. The in-store experience was comfortable and thorough. We had all our questions answered without feeling pressured and ultimately left the store feeling like we got what we were looking for. My wife said we need a new mattress. She said this for about 3 years before she finally took me (I drove) to a Sleep Number Mattress place. I was wary. My mattress felt fine to me. We went in. She had already been there and had gone through the sales sphele but I had to endure it for myself. I laid on the bed, they inflated it all the way up and then began lowering the amount of air in it. I was told to say stop when I felt comfortable. At 45, I said stop. We bought a California King. My side is now at 50. I'm not sure I feel any difference between this bed and my twenty year old one. My wife loves it. This is what we do for people we love. read more

We came here to buy our daughter her first big girl mattress. We immediately knew we came to the right place because David, the gentleman working the show room, already had a good idea of what we were looking for but also let us know our options. We found what we wanted very quickly and he didn't try to sell us anything we didn't want. He also offered the suggestion of getting a mismatched box spring (that wouldn't show in the bed anyway) because he could give it to us for brand new and no charge, to which we gladly accepted. A very reasonable price for what we were looking to buy and saved a couple hundred on a box spring. Ugo and Eduardo, the two gentlemen who delivered the mattress and box spring to us, were great. They called us 15 minutes out, carried the pieces upstairs to the room and also offered to unpack them! Very quick, prompt and professional. 10/10: would mattress again. read more

When we needed to reschedule our delivery date they told us that it would be 11 days later! When we made the purchase we were concerned that the delivery date she gave us might be a problem. She assured us that if we needed to move it we could reschedule when the delivery department contacted us. The delivery person called the day before and husband asked to delay delivery by ONE DAY. No, they said it would be 11 days before they could deliver. Instead, they trucked it back to Utah where it is manufactured and we had to get back in line for new delivery date. Nice way to treat your customer who just spent almost $11,000 for your product.... So disappointed salesperson did not tell us how it would be if we had to reschedule.... read more
