There aren't many lighting stores left in Westchester, and Hi-Light had a few decent reviews, so I popped in quickly before the appointment with our electrician. After finding a few crystal flushount options at Hi-Light on Central Ave, I took a couple photos to send to my husband (who is also part of the buying process), and was immediately accosted by a salesperson who said I wasn't allowed to take photos of the products I was interested in buying, and asked me to stop. WTF? This is 2023. A great customer experience is your competitive advantage, and yet, the first thing a customer service person said to me was to stop taking photos of the items I was considering buying. Okaaaaaaaay. If you want to sell your products to people who use technology as part of the buying process, you need to make that easy AND pleasant for them to buy, and not harass them for promoting your products to their spouses (or interior designers etc.). I've been working on the renovation of our house for a year, and never once has a salesperson asked me to stop taking photos. In fact, they encourage it! This is why millennials do not want to come into stores now. Who has time for this B.S.? Never again. I'm ordering a flush mount online and will have my electrician come a second time to install a closet flush mount.

And, if you're on their website, you can shop by style, fixture type and browse through some of their inspiration gallery photos. Paula was a doll, showed us the upstairs filled with mostly pendant lighting, floor lamps and some smaller chandeliers. Since so much has changed in lighting trend, getting rid of our wrought iron dining area chandelier had to happen as well- especially since it has a country-chicish look I don't like anymore in my home. There's another lighting store on Central Avenue which we could've gone to- but based on reviews, so glad this place came out on top. Owner Glenn, was helpful, patient and friendly. Even when hubs and I didn't find what we wanted on their website, Paula helped locate it in their paper catalog. I loved how she gave us expert advice on how to choose fixtures and even determined which size was best for our space. She was our lighting whisperer.

I was drawn to a Moroccan candle lamp we bought ages ago in the East Village- then had hubs' friend hook up a wire and light bulb. Because that wasn't a legit electrical job, it gave out- but we saved the Moroccan Lamp anyway for looks. Powell has always been our first line of defense for all things Lamps and knew we'd get a brand new and rewired Moroccan lamp. Located a few doors down from Apple Farm and SAKS Off 5th, the husband and wife team here- have always delivered exceptional lamp service. Plus there's so much lighting eye candy. Powell's process is a bit off I think- but somehow it works and they do come through. I visited 2 weeks ago and explained my issue to Fran and asked how much wire I needed, length, on/off switch placement, etc. She fills out order receipt with basic name and # info. Powell Accessories will not give you prices on the spot and even though I asked, she just couldn't give me a ballpark estimate. Lamps stay with them while they access the situation. And between the time I dropped off my lamp and the time we got a quote was 2 weeks. Although I love my Moroccan lamp, my fear was without a price quote sooner- I didn't want to be slapped with a $500 bill afterwards! Goes to show you I'm not the lamp expert and all we paid was just $48!

Since I have them, they only show up to turn the sprinklers on and off. I've had "only" them and my lawn has constantly died due to poor sprinkler types and lack of water getting to certain areas. Sprinkler care and lawn treatment seem to be horrible in Bergen County. You have to receiving a communication from this company is nice to know that they monitor these posts however when you turn a sprinkler system on it is customary to check the sprinklers for proper condition and if if they are doing the proper job not just turn it on and walk away from it. I would not have lost my lawn this year if my sprinkler company had my best interest at heart and checked each sprinkler head and the placement and the coverage they were supplying not just turn the sprinkler on. This past time when I requested that they come out they had to replace several heads and adjust locations that the sprinklers were supplying water to. That tells me that when they came out a few months ago they did just what the woman said was turn the system on and walk away and didn't check anything and for over $100 that's not good service I would hope that they change the way they service my property. It seems that they are very comfortable with a DISGRACEFUL three star rating rather than trying to earn more stars and be more considerate of the customer. Now I look and the three replaced heads are refurbished and not new new heads that I paid over three hundred dollars for. These pictures represent the failure of what I paid for and did not get.
