This place is a little treasure. I travel to Searcy periodically. I found Slader's by looking online for local restaurants and I am thrilled with the find. So simple, three entrees. Dumplings served in a bowl with a half slice of multigrain bread. Water or soda available and ice cream. I have had the chicken, the beef and the potato dumplings. I first tried them when I was attending Harding University, and since I've graduated, I actually crave these bad boys throughout the year. It is a must have whenever I return to Searcy! I just moved to the area and since I'm originally from Russia I was googling if there were any local Russian grocery stores (sadly no).. but I did find out about this place. Spicy boiled dumplings. Choose from three different kinds: beef, chicken or potato (gnocchi). The taste was a little bland. A little parmesan cheese would help. The "sauce" (sriracha) had no flavor. The only thing I can describe about the flavors when you first bite and chew the first dumpling is like pulling back the ball launcher of a pinball then the ball hits every bumpers. One flavor to another. You taste the tartness of vinegar broth, then the taste of the meat/or potato filling along with the spiciness of curry and their own sweet n' spicy sauce cooled down with sour cream. You can't decide if it's the best taste you ever tasted that you feel the need to pop in another dumpling, one after another and finish up the bowl sopping with half wheat bread they serve with your dumplings. Slader's Alaskan Dumplings is a unique hole-in-the-wall restaurant that is oddly placed right in the middle of Searcy, Arkansas. The menu is limited, but it allows the restaurant to hone in on a few dishes that they make extremely well. The seating and décor gives a very authentic feel to the location that will have customers wondering if they just stepped into a dumpling restaurant in downtown Anchorage. I'm only giving a couple of stars for the atmosphere and uniqueness. Like others have mentioned, this would've been a great place to hang out at during college. I ordered to go one week day when no one else was in the place and hung out while waiting for my order. There's really only one word to describe the taste of the food and that is bland. There was absolutely no flavor in the once frozen dumplings. I got two different flavors but would've liked a variety pack...especially since they are frozen and cooked to order. I also believe all flavors are plated the same as well. I would've paid a little extra to try all of the different dumplings in one go without having to get an entire order of each. Unfortunately the option did not exist at that time. I'm glad there are people that like this place because it is certainly unique for the area. Don't go with high expectations if going just for the food. Pay them a visit for the experience, as I did, but I'm personally not an Alaskan dumpling fan. I won't be back. read more

Well i honestly have to say there the best dumplings ive ever had. There just a little curry and a little spice, id say the perfect combo. I tossed mine in sweet and spicy sauce and ate them all. My wife didnt care for them herself but she doesnt like curry and had never been there before. This place is small, all they have is dumplings canned sodas, coffee, and icecream.
