We booked with Norma based on available time and proximity to our hotel. I am ever so glad we picked her. We showed up at a townhouse, super cute, but I thought for sure I had the wrong place. We entered a space that was clean and calming. Norma's demeanor was professional, welcoming, and very soothing. My mother explained we were trying to do a mother-daughter day. Norma smiled and said it would be her pleasure to care for us both. We had side-by-side rooms. After a quick assessment, she recommended receiving the Signature Facial for both of us. She juggled us both without showing a sense of being juggled. I felt very calm and cared for but most importantly, I felt that Norma was taking the most excellent care of my Mother. This facial was the second one in my life and I am in awe of the difference it has truly made to my skin. It is quite obvious that she is very knowledgeable about skin and its care and that she is passionate about educating others about a continued skin care regimen. The woman did a 2 hour acne extraction on my skin (that was VERY painful), and my skin has not been the same since. I've suffered from the most terrible breakout in all the areas that she picked and poked and tugged at. After a few months of going to them, I saw no improvement. I went to another esthetician and she told me their form of treatment is absolutely terrible for skin. I'm not saying their method doesn't work.....But if you have a life to live, do not go here!!! Now what facial place would still be open and could possibly take my mom, my sister, and I on a Sunday evening? Thankfully, Lois from 8 Skin Bar saved the day. She was literally only down the road from where we were eating, so I got her number off the website/Yelp and texted her asking if she could squeeze us in. Luckily, she could! She would have to take my mom first then she would call up another worker to do my sister, then I would go last. But we took it anyway! I totally appreciated her willingness to accommodate us. When we got there, we found ourselves in a plaza surrounded by many other Asian establishments (we later learned we were in Chinatown!). It made me very happy to visit considering a girl from Hawai'i like me moving to Texas was a big culture shock. Being around Asians made me feel at home. We were greeted by Lois and she began right away! She had another worker come in later to do my sisters' facial (her name was Lily) and again we appreciated their kindness and care as they gave my sister a different facial more suited for her skin type. We opted for a $68/hour facial which ended up being the most peaceful and relaxing facial I've had. When it was my turn, I basically melted in my bed as Lois took care of me. During the facial she would tell me what to expect as she placed each product on my face and then she would check in on whether I was okay. When I awoke later, she showed me my face and I swear I went a complete shade lighter! She touched me up really good.
