I recently came to meet a friend who invited me to play 9 holes of golf. I was anxious to play since my clubs have been just collecting dust in my garage for quite some time. We ended up teeing up just after 4:00 pm at Skylinks is part of American Golf corporation and was built in 1959 and is a par 72 links style course, with a length of 6909 yards. There's a driving range with mats to hit off and the course is easy to book a round online or just calling in. The staff here is friendly and accommodating and the only gripe I have is that there's not enough yardage markers to the pin, but other than that I would recommend Skylinks Golf course. read more

Went here for the first time for a weekend get-together, mainly to escape the heat. It did feel a little cooler, which was nice. The fairways and greens were pretty similar to other courses, but the weekend rate felt a bit expensive for what you get. The holes around the driving range were especially frustrating because there were range balls scattered everywhere. I also noticed quite a few tee boxes and fairway areas that could use better maintenance. Overall, it was okay for a first visit, but I'm not sure I'd go out of my way to come back. read more

Been a resident in Long Beach for over 20 years. Brought in my car insurance papers, as I have every other year to renew, and was told I cannot use it anymore. They said I must use a utility bill. Well, when all of our utility bills are under my wife's name, I'm not going to take my valuable time to change the name with my utility company. In essence, Long Beach just lost my business. With the condition most of the courses in Long Beach deteriorating and customer service being horrible on most days, there are MUCH better options outside of Long Beach that I will drive to from now on. Skylinks has some good deals available for twilight tee times but don't go in with high expectations for a specific number of holes to hit. We teed off twenty minutes after our scheduled time because there was a large group sitting in carts and watching other golfers at the 18th hole. After paying for carts and asking for support from the staff, at the twentieth minute mark someone finally went over and asked for the carts to be returned for our use. We wouldn't have minded walking but after paying for the carts with our tee time - we either wanted them or a refund for that portion of the charge. We also found that others were working out of order around the course which caused more delays - but I feel like that's to be expected with the relaxed nature of a twilight tee time. We did purchase drinks from the bar while waiting to start and the bartender was super friendly and helpful! read more

I spoke with the Manager Gary and he basically said that the A/C was running fine that weekend although a room of 80 people experienced otherwise. This place does bad business. He did not once on the phone say he would compensate for 6,000 that was paid to this venue. I passed out and these people could careless. When I told the GM I am going to report them and sue, he said do what I feel I have to do. These people do things with greed in mind. They will hear from a city agency if not a lawsuit for causing me to pass out from heat exhaustion. The weekend was not fulfilling for me because I had to be rushed to the hospital and the venue had no on sight medical assistance either. Thet had no backup fans or anything. Its my understanding another group experienced the same issue that Sunday. They had to attend that banquet room with NO air! Im pissed at this place. read more

I liked Skylinks. My group hosted our monthly tournament there and the course was in pretty good shape 4-5 in my book. I will say that you need to keep your food with you at all times or eat before/after you play. The squirrels are military trained, aggressive and tactical in their approach to eat your stuff. It was a fine Saturday morning at 920. Range was pretty busy as it's Father's Day weekend also but for $75 dollars I don't know if these greens are worth it. It was a beautiful course but definitely way too expensive. Maybe like $50 or $60 I'd be down. Pace of play was pretty good too. My first time here but I don't think I'd come back. This review is strictly pertaining to a wedding I attended and not the actual golf experience. I recently attended a wedding at Skylinks Long Beach Golf Course, and it was nice. It was a lovely and a simple wedding. It definitely fit the couple's style, which is basic. There's nothing wrong with being basic sometimes. The ceremony took place outside in front of the waterfall. My only issue was the grass; not ideal for heels at all, but whatever. When the ceremony ended, they had a cocktail hour outside, including an open bar with self-served hors d'oeuvres. Both the ceremony and cocktail hour was nicely set up. When we entered the reception area, I felt that it was the perfect size for the number of people that attended. But the dance floor was not. It was super tiny, and the dancing was very tight. For dinner, it was buffet-style with Italian food. I didn't really like where the buffet was located, but I guess it worked out well. The food was basic; nothing really stood out for me. The waitstaff, however, was terrific! It looked like only about three people were working, and they seemed to be on the older side. But man, they were hustling and bustling! They were moving quickly, and they did their job! The wedding had an open bar throughout the whole time! They even provided late-night tacos! Which really hit the spot! I felt that the bathrooms could've been located within the same building where the reception took place. The bathrooms were across the way for everyone; even the golfing people were using them. The bathrooms weren't the best-looking ones. You have a beautiful wedding with ugly, run-down bathrooms. Everyone is all dressed up and then uses a gross bathrooms. Ugh ! I'm not a golfer, so I probably won't come back unless I'm invited to another event. But I would recommend Skylinks for a wedding. read more

Its Two Star 2uesday bc this course is expensive ($69) for what you get: A boring course w/ no real bends in the fairways, no elevation changes, grass that goes dormant in the winter, and hardly any markers in the fairways. It was foggy AF when we played, and I didn't know how far to hit the ball half the time. Skylinks by LGB is a no-no for me. I'd rather play El Dorado or Big Rec in LBC. read more

Played here yesterday morning. A few holes in, the marshal drives up to us and says the group behind us is followed by a tournament. He demands WE put pressure on the group in front of us and to start picking up our putts as to speed up the pace of play so that the guys taking part in the tournament don't catch up to us. Right before he drives off he says "We wouldn't want to have to ask anyone to leave." If you're hosting a tournament, maybe allow for more time between your public tee times and your tournament start time? Or instead, don't have any public tee times available? Don't threaten your customers who paid close to $100 with the possibility of being asked to leave. Especially, when they aren't slowing down the pace of play. This was likely an error on the staff's behalf and they tried projecting the blame onto their customers. Extremely unprofessional and uncalled for. Instead of threatening us with possible removal, why not offer to refund our money since we're being asked to pick up our putts and not finish our holes? read more

We went to celebrate our anniversary at Skylinks this morning. Packed!!! They have waterfall at the entrance of pro shop. Nice look....beautiful view! My hubby likes the driving range and we also practiced the putting too. Great on the green... There were so many people today because of Sunday....very busy. We felt a lot better after we hit the balls of a large bucket. Very relaxed, clean. We like their putting practice green. read more

Played here twice in the last month. Loved it. I'm pretty much a bogey golfer, and I think Skylinks is a good test of my game. The fairways were OK, and the greens were in good shape both times I played. Driving range is standard, but always busy. Staff is professional and courteous. We did not see a beverage cart either time we played, and only saw an "Ambassador" once during each round. The biggest downside to this place is the bar. It is definitely below what it should be. Seems like an afterthought. The bartenders are great, and they serve anything you could ask for, but it's just not a place to relax after your round. read more

I do enjoy Skylinks first and foremost. It's well maintained, Marshalls are cool guys, and plenty of range spots in the morning. From what I have experienced, there is regularly scheduled maintenance every Tuesday morning, but then there is random maintenance throughout the week that is not mentioned when you call in for range status. My biggest annoyance is the tool that works at the front desk and drives the clapped out Subaru. I've seen this guy on multiple occasions talk in such a condescending tone to people, and then his buddies walk in and he's all bro bro. So I booked a single player tee time for 3:20 on their website. I show up to the golf course to check in and the worker says my tee time was moved by management to a 3:40 slot. I said no, I have proof that my reservation is for 3:20. He says okay no problem I see that the 3:20 slot is a 3-some so you can join them at 3:20. Still weirded out that I'm being ping ponged around my scheduled tee time I make my way to the first tee to visit the starter. I show up and there is a 4-some family that is about to tee off and the starter tells me that they are 3:20. The front desk guy comes to tell the starter I am the 3:20 single and then notices that one of the players in the 4-some did not pay. The proceed to act dumb and go inside and pay. The front desk guy then tells me I HAVE to play at 3:40. I am pretty peeved at this point and I tell them you are just going to bump my slot that I reserved and not even act like they are sorry. No one apologizes to me and I ask where the manager is or who I can talk to. He gives me some regional manager's email and to take it up with him. I message the regional manager and he tells me that he see's that I teed off at "3:25", which I did because they decided to move me up a slot and they were ahead of schedule. He apologizes for the "inconvenience" and I don't hear anything from him after the fact. This whole ordeal just turned me off to this golf course. Poorly run and not very professional. Horrible customer service. Will never be coming back here again. read more

I've lived next to Skylinks for years and have seen it go through it's transformations. The entire golf course received a complete makeover and has become an amazing course to play. Even though you're right next to Lakewood Blvd. and the airport you don't even realize that they're even there. Great course for all levels of golfers. Good pace of play and a friendly staff. Average round for my group (4) was about 3:45min. The 5 stars are for the course & staff. I can't take that away from them. But I'd be careful not to leave a club behind. I forgot my wedge on the very 1st hole and 3 holes later I realized it and asked the 3 groups behinds us. No one saw it and I left it right in front of the green. Anyone could've seen it from the fairway. After a week, it was never turned in. So be aware of your clubs if you put them down around the green. Lesson learned. This doesn't reflect on all golfers, just the few that have no golf etiquette. "Karma" read more

First played here in May 2019 and it seemed like a decent links course. Played again in July 2021 just to revisit and see how it is. I don't know how much the actual green fees were my first time b/c it was a fundraiser event, but they're now $49 on weekdays except Fridays. Throw in another $16 if you choose to ride so $65 for a weekday rate is a bit excessive given the course conditions. There are also no black tees; only blue, white and red so the max yardage is around 6,300 yds. Course appears to be poorly maintained - bunkers aren't fluffy and there are a lot of bunkers throughout, fairway grass is probably 40% dead, pine cones everywhere there are trees, lot of patches overly soaked with water (probably from the irrigation system). At least the soaked patches are nice and green. The conditions remind me a lot of the two Brookside courses except they have an excuse since they're used as a parking lot for Rose Bowl events. I think if you're really strapped and need to play in the Long Beach vicinity, then it'll suffice. It's extremely overpriced for what it is, but there just aren't many municipal courses in the South Bay area. I'd highly recommend Harbor Park instead even though it's a 9 hole (par 36) - $17 on weekdays. That course is easily the best bang for your buck in the area. There was a marshal driving around to regulate the pace of play so mentioning that if it's a concern. Probably won't play here again as the price is too off putting given the state of the course. read more

When the ball machine is closed at random times, employees will hop the wall to the ball machine and get balls for themselves and try to extort cash from you. The Skylinks Golf Course and Club is in a curious location directly across the street from the Long Beach Airport. All day small planes and especially helicopters came flying low overhead as my partner and I photographed a wedding. Having relocated from the Courtyard by Marriott down the street we were greeted by the coordinator who proved to be quite efficient and friendly. The itinerary was nicely blocked off and meals for the photographers, DJs, and video crew were to be provided. Yay! The grounds were reasonably maintained and the ceremony had a large fountain as a backdrop. I appreciated the recently planted pansies that provided nice color to the setting. Another perk was the "convoy" of golf carts we used to shoot the bridal party out on the green by one of the lakes. The Setting was remarkably efficient with everything running smoothly, five minutes ahead of schedule no less. I have to say the food was average but appreciated nonetheless. I found the employees very friendly and helpful too, which is important in the hospitality business. Overall it was a great event and well managed. Cheers! read more

This course has the nastiest restrooms in Southern Cal. Men & women share the same restrooms, smell terrible, no soap, or not enough soap every time I come here. I pay over $90 on the weekend. Why can't they afford soap in the restrooms? Air freshener is not that expensive either. They should reduce the green fee if they don't want to provide them. read more

DISCLAIMER... NOT A WEDDING VENUE REVIEW!!! That said, I've sat on this one long enough... My first time here, I wasn't even Yelping, so as one might imagine, that was a few years back. What I noticed more than anything then was the fairways were yellow (weren't even in the "drought" then), and the greens pretty bumpy, (i.e., neither were very well maintained). And given the price for a round there, I was more than a little dissatisfied. Subsequent visits, (of which there have been quite a few), have been significantly different. What I find now are the fairways and greens have been very well kept / maintained, speed of play is fantastic and the clubhouse bar can make a pretty decent Bloody Mary!!! We have since decided to hold the second half of our golf club "individual play" rounds here lately, mainly because Big Rec usually sux in the late months of the summer. Skylinks has been more than adequate at filling the void. They always accommodate our league chairperson from a scheduling standpoint and that's not always easy to do... read more
