This little diner takes you back to a simpler time. The food is good and the staff friendly.

What a fantastic burger! It was my first time ever visiting this place. I've wanted to come here for years but its never been the right time. They are remodeling right now, painting the outside and all new seating and tables inside. I am dreaming about the juicy burger I had and I cant wait to go again soon and take my husband. They have a great menu with a variety of burgers, hot dogs, salad, chili and soup. Don't forget the fries, tots and shakes!

It's a diner. They serve diner food. The 1/2# burgers are giant. The servers are great & hustle, but when it gets busy the hustle is real for them & for the kitchen.

Hidden gem. Old diner vibes. Massive burgers. Great food. I got a regular cheeseburger and added pastrami. It was delicious. Been here a few times and every time has been 10/10. I have also gotten the club sandwich and it was just as impressive - nearly larger than my head! Bonus: go during Christmas or Halloween! They have extra cool decorations.

Parking is ok a bit tight. When I arrived there were only a few cars. I entered and greeted fairly quickly. The staff is super nice. The space not good for a wheelchair. No space for a wheelchair to sit with others really. The clientele soon came rolling in for pick and dine-in. Soon the place was packed. Seemed mostly local after work picking up for the family or meeting up with family and friends. Happy neighborhood vibe. I went for the hamburger and onion rings. The burger is grass-fed beef yes on the texture typical of a grass-fed. The toppings are fresh. The bread simple. The onion rings, the oil seemed fresh but maybe not quite hot enough as they breading seemed not quite crisp. Lots of choices all presented fairly nice for the unassuming burger joint. I see milk shakes being advertised. Come with a friend or meet up with peeps for a nice quality burger. Great service. And a little nostalgia.

This place gives you a knife and fork with your Burger for a reason... If your order "any" of the 1/2 Pound burgers, be prepared, these are no your standard fast food burgers. These are massive and deliciously Messy. Get your napkins ready. Being our first time here, we tried the Go Big or Go Home burger and the Aloha Burger. We were not prepared. . These burgers were not small, so tall I was not able to bite down from top to bottom. Honestly we were a little... how shall I say... shy? -Super aware of everyone around us watching/waiting to see how we go about attacking these burgers- In the end we just said F - it, and dove in face first. There's really no other way. It was Glorious. It was Delicious. And it was Messy. Both burgers were super juicy and tasty. It was a serious attack on the senses. Not for the timid. I was only able to finish half, and even with half, it barely fit in the to go box. Oh yeah.... We had fries and onion rings. Crisped to perfection. And, their Milkshakes were super thick and creamy. Would we comeback? Absolutely.. and we're bringing friends so we can watch them eat hahaha. Well done Skyline! This visit was super fun.

We love this place! My spouse has been eating here for over 40 years. Yes, its clearly been around for a long time, not a ton of seating and you have to wait until the tables are cleared before being allowed to sit but the food is always good, hot and quick. The service is always friendly and very quick. Its big red booths are very old school and you can tell it's been around for a long time.

Skyline Restaurant is a true gem! We had the chicken tenders, fries, a coffee malt, and a chocolate shake--everything was excellent. The chicken tenders were perfectly crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside, and the fries were golden and delicious. The real stars were the shakes! The coffee malt had a rich, smooth flavor with just the right balance of coffee and sweetness, and the chocolate shake was thick, creamy, and absolutely indulgent. Classic diner vibes, great food, and friendly service--can't wait to come back!

    Skyline Oreo shake
    Kim R.

This is strictly a review of a shake experience at Skyline. :) It was a last minute visit of opportunity, as we were driving past after lunch and the shake sign called my name. Service was friendly but a bit confusing. We walked in...received a friendly greeting...and let the young man know we just wanted shakes to-go. He took our order but no payment and got redirected by another employee. She had no idea we'd ordered, took our payment, and no one really knew that he had gone back to get our order going. Nonetheless, we paid and the shakes arrived shortly, an Oreo and a mint chocolate chip. They were definitely yummy. Well, my Oreo was, and although my husbands choice tastes like medicine to me, he loved it. The only real complaint was that the straws were the skinny kind. And in the case of the choc chip, he literally fought for every sip as the chips were constantly plugging up the straw. Regardless, he sucked his way through awhile and eventually deferred to the spoon instead. The interior was like stepping back in diner time. Smaller space inside with outdoor seating as well, and a decent amount of parking. We look forward to returning to try the food sometime.

The food here was pretty good. Average id say. The fries were no salty at all but there is salt at the table. The staff was very friendly. The space is very small and squished. The seats are right up to the table. A family of five adults will barely squeeze into a booth. If there are kids in the booth playing behind you, you will feel the kicking. I wouldn't really seek out coming here again but I would be happy with the food if I was taken here.

The food was decent and the service was great. Very friendly staff and they actually have a kids menu! My kids enjoyed the fish n chips.

    Skyline Bacon Cheeseburger

The food was pretty good. The burger was huge and so was a chili cheese dog as it was drowned in chili. We ordered a cherry shake that was delicious, could've had more pie in it. The service was good. I absolutely loved the decorations for Christmas.

We recently took a staycation in downtown Portland and decided to have brunch there. At 1030 on a Saturday morning, we were still able to get a table. It was crowded, but the noise level was do-able. Service was excellent, very friendly and efficient. All of the waitstaff seemed very relaxed, which I thought was great. They bring beignets to every table as a starter. They are light, airy and not too sweet. For breakfast, I had the Ed's scramble, which had a ton of veggies in it, but also cheese. It was served with a ranchero sauce and sour cream. This was very, very good. My husband had the chili and cheese omelet, he said it was great and it looked really good. This is an excellent dining spot that has been in Portland for years. I can see why.

After we ordered, I went to the bathroom and the food was already out when I came back to the table. I ordered a salmon benedict, so it did not seem like it was "made to order." The salmon benedict, although highly recommended by the waitress, was extremely fishy, even though the "hollandaise sauce" (which had no depth of flavor, and was just thick) covered the entirety of the egg, salmon, and english muffin. It came with cheesy hash browns which again had no depth of flavor. Cheese makes anything tasty but it was just too much. The service, while friendly, was not attentive. We were unsure who our server was and I had to flag down the server for the bill and then to take my card 10 minutes later.

We watched two tables leave without ordering. We waited until our food arrived to receive a drip coffee and a hot tea. (And when it did arrive the coffee was a cold cup of machine rinse. I really wanted what many have posted as the Hawaiian Breakfast: 2 eggs, 2 spam, 2 Portuguese sausage, white rice. But it wasn't on the menu. Our server accommodated my request (thanks to the pictures from Yelpers). But when it arrived it was 3 eggs, 2 spam and rice. Overall the menu is confused. Is it a Hawaiian theme or not. Scant options is rice. Lots of potatoes. Even the condiments were confused; no soy or siracha on the table but ketchup and Tapatio. The general lack of caring by the management is what sticks with me. The sad bowl of sugar packets, jam packets, creamers and stir sticks all thrown together on the table like a mistake. But when I asked for honey or soy our server had to go to the kitchen and get side dishes of these. C'mon y'all. Pay attention to the details. Your customer sure are.

The beverages were however very nice, and I recently had the cobbler dessert and it looked amazing and tasted better. We had the coffee (Extracto, love.), I had a really good hef and my mother a very well balanced Bellini that I was very pleasantly surprised with trying. From what I saw, the lunch sounds very good and I'd be more apt to recommend folks give that a shot if they happened to be going there too. I'm not sure if I'd recommend as a must go stop. Vibe wise, the ambience is overall really nice. I think having rolled flatware, even with just upgraded napkins, would better complete the aesthetic you initially see and feel. This would also connect with the price point of the food and quality of the beverages. As a fellow server, on that note I would expect more consistent stronger visual appearance standards with servers. (Sorry guys! But some of you looked great!) Overall, I'd definitely join a friend for coffee and lunch over there in the future. Just wouldn't be my top pick for a celebratory brunch or intimate dinner with a date or friends and fam.
