Did a great little hike here, ended up being shorter than expected as we went the wrong way on one of the trails. The mile markers do take some getting used to. Parking lot has picnic benches, the women's restroom was decent. Lots of trails to choose from. We did see coyotes at the trailhead. And best of all, free. Will be back.

All I will say is that we did NOT spend enough time exploring Skyline Regional Park during our last visit. A group of us gals decided we wanted a hiking adventure day so we started at Skyline Regional Park and chose the Watson Overlook Loop mainly due to timing - it was quick & touted good views. I mean, we had a coffee shop to get to... But it was a beaut. Straight up, super short, and stunning. We actually hiked up it so quickly we had time to explore another mountain biking loop for a little... It has incredible 360-degree views and some big rocks where you can just sit and journal or relax and soak up the views. The drive is a little iffy once you get off the I-10 and the service isn't great so from a directions and communication perspective with friends, it was tricky. But once you get the to main parking area, you will feel comfortable and like you are at any other regional park. There are restrooms, but do recommend you always bring your own extra toliet paper. We did have to share with some awesome hiking buddies but that's also just part of our hiking story, too! The coolest part to us is that this is the southern part of the White Tanks. So we actually went and hiked the Waterfall Trail at White Tanks after but to think that we were hiking the same mountain, just a 25-minute drive difference, was really cool!

Great place to hike with trails for all abilities. I love this place. Great place for family hikes and/or picnics. Parking lot has been upgraded to asphalt recently and there's restrooms. SRP is one of Buckeye's treasures.

This is probably one of my FAVORITE two mountains I have been to. The hours are more ideal and if I remember correctly, once you're in you can leave whenever you want. You're not stuck inside. Granite falls is by far my favorite trail because it goes up down and has a little bit of everything. And when the sun starts going down there's still some light because of where the mountain is and the sun is going down, if that makes sense at all hahah. Just such a pretty mountain. I would say this mountain has only so many trails and it's got mostly moderate to hard trails. The easy ones are connected to more moderate ones for sure. Attached are photos from all trails I have done at this mountain. Definitely recommend anyone going here. One of the better mountains I have been to.

I brought my dogs with me to hike and they made it through! The trails are well maintained. Make sure to bring plenty of water to drink and a water bowl when hiking with dogs. We stopped every 15-20 mins to make sure the dogs are hydrated. We hiked the Turnbuckle trail which is three miles. The trail has inclines and narrow paths. Sometimes, I let the dogs hike up and the trails off leash. Make sure to scan for thorns from cacti along a side of the landscape, they can easily poke a dog paw. I was very proud of my fur babies when they finished the trail. I would definitely go back hike again!

I came to hike here on a Sunday afternoon, arriving to the parking lot around 1:30PM which was pretty full at the time. We started the hike and did Turnbuckle to Chukwalla up to Pyrite Summit, and I really appreciate the clear signage throughout the paths. There not only were signs on what the trail names were, but also a map would accompany it! It was pretty awesome; always knew how much more distance we had to go and always knew what trail we were on. Incredible even more so that this place is free! Anyway, the hike itself was fine, nothing too spectacular in my opinion - just the normal Arizona desert. It wasn't very steep but it was slightly rocky (ie not super suitable for running). The view at the top was alright; it wasn't too high altitude-wise so it wasn't too impressive, but the views were still nice as we could see the city below and the mountains around us. Took about an hour to get up and another hour to get down.

This is a beautiful hiking spot to see some of what the Phoenix metropolitan area has to offer. The parking is adequate and there are restrooms on site. The signs on the trail are a little confusing and I did end up on a 5 mile hike instead of the planned 3 miles. (Probably a good thing though!) I plan on many returns because of the beautiful surrounding landscapes.

    Pretty sunrise at turnbuckle trail

Come here very often. Quartz mine is my absolute favorite trail but it's only one way so you must take lost creek trail and mountain wash trail to come back to the parking lot. Very clean and clear trail markers. During the hot summer, I like to take turnbuckle trail. If you start just as the the sun is rising, you will get very minimal sun exposure because the mountain provides shades most of the way making the trail a lot more enjoyable.

Ask the Community - Skyline Regional Park

Is there anywhere close to Goodyear Arizona that I can camp and fish all night?

Goodyear is basically just the outskirts of Phoenix, I can't say a place like that doesn't exist, but you might have to look hard to find it, or head further away from the center of the sea of humanity... Does plenty of camping at this location, but… Read more

We have a rooftop tent setup -- which is a very common form of camping now -- but were told it's not allowed. Their rules clearly haven't kept up with how people camp today. Everything is self-serve with a wall full of rules, and no real support for travelers passing through. Before writing this review, I need to give some information about us and our trailer, which is…read moresomething Scott and Duke at Paradise RV did not afford us the opportunity to do. We are full-time mobile living in a fully self-contained off-road RV trailer (kimberley kamper). Our camper has no black tank and has a composting toilet. We had to come back to Phoenix for a funeral and to move things to and from our storage unit that is right around the corner from this RV Park. We have a dog, and the temperatures are still in the low 100s, so needless to say, we needed 30 amp electrical hookup to run our AC efficiently. We originally planned to stay nearby at the Sunflower RV Resort (where we stayed in April 2023), but their office was closed for lunch. While waiting, we called Paradise RV Resort to see if they have any open spaces. They did, and they were $200 less for the two weeks we planned to stay. So we decided to go over to check out their facilities. We had already talked to Janet on the phone and told her we had previously stayed at the Sunflower RV Resort but thought we may try their location while in town. We looked around at the amenities and our potential site they were going to assign to us, and it seemed very similar to Sunflower RV park, just a little older. When we returned to the office with the intention of staying there, we were immediately confronted by Duke (in the front office), basically accusing us of trying to sneak in a trailer that they don't accept. He said we couldn't stay there because "we are not self-contained." We said we are the epitome of self-contained and were wondering how he drew that conclusion. He asked if we had a black tank, and we said no, we have a composting toilet but do need grey water hook-ups in addition to the water. He said exactly, "That's why we don't take trailers like yours." He added that he called Sunflower RV Park, and they won't take us either. We asked him if he was calling us a liar about staying there earlier this year, and he stammered around the question. So basically, he not only was calling us a liar, but he was trying to keep us from having an alternative place to stay. We asked to speak to his manager, who ended up being Scott. Turns out Scott had seen our truck and trailer outside when we first arrived and assumed we were a homemade trailer and didn't want us at his facility. Instead of asking us some basic questions or looking at our trailer for himself, he apparently sicked his dog (Duke) on us to get rid of us. Our trailer is an Australian made overland trailer shipped to a dealer in the US before being delivered to US customers. In the end, Scott apologized and kinda handled the situation professionally and invited us to stay. But with the unwelcoming mat that was laid out for us, we chose not to stay at Paradise RV. We subsequently returned to The Sunflower RV Resort, where we knew it was nice. They looked at our trailer and welcomed us back with friendly smiles. We do not recommend anyone to stay or have to deal with Paradise RV Resort, but we do recommend going down the street to the newer RV park, Sunflower RV Resort. I also feel that both Scott and Duke would benefit from some needed customer service training. They desperately need it.

Trips out of town ae made easier with its proximity to the 101, which connects to either I17 or I10 and Grand Avenue down the Street the it's time to head to Vegas for a weekend getaway , lol.
