UPDATE: was a 3 Star. Read first review below. For my second visit, I got the meat and cheese platter and chicken fingers. Both a 5/5 Star (however both seemed a bit pricey for what was given). I will say that they were honestly the best chicken fingers I have ever had. The breading was so light and crispy, and the meat juicy and flavorful. The platter was also incredible. Quality meat and cheese. The best old fashion I have ever had as well. ---------------- First visit. The service 4/5 The view 8/5 (best spot in LBurg) The restaurant vibe 5/5 The food 2/5. Wow. I LOVE this place. It is truly such an incredible Lynchburg addition. Incredible views, and so relaxing. So glad we have such a jewel as this. When I'm considering the rating for a restaurant, I don't really take the view into consideration. I had a chicken flat bread pizza and the hummace plate. The pizza was so boring. No flavor. No where near the price point worth. I would have preferred a frozen pizza from Walmart. The hummace was fine, but again, nothing to it for the price. They gave us like 4 pieces of pita bread.. I immediately knew it wouldn't be enough. Our waitress said we could get more pita for $1.50. We did. It still wasn't enough. I will definitely be coming back to try some of their entrees. Excellent rooftop venue, you get a nearly 360-degree view of downtown. Very popular place, so you'll need to arrive much earlier than when you plan to eat. Even the bar is packed and having cocktails as you wait for a table is not as comfortable as you might expect. This was my second visit to the Skyline rooftop bar, I absolutely LOVE the atmosphere, food, drinks and the views are amazing! My bartender was Shane and I remembered him from years ago when he worked at Benjamin's. He was my favorite bartender back then and I am so happy that he is now bartending at Skyline. So bartender was great.. They were out of most brand name vodkas... Kettle one, Grey Goose, etc ... but Covid times so I understand .. I order the Mahi Tuna special .. as I was told always order the special .. It was over seasoned like a salt bath .. and then it was completely raw ... If you're expecting to get your order as you want it and expect them to make things right when they don't, you're out of luck at Skyline. My husband ordered the burger and fries burnt. The burger arrived with only one of the condiments he ordered and the fries were cold and barely cooked. When he said something, they said "he's new." Whomever "he" is. Wow!! What an amazing spot! Definitely the highlight of Lynchburg. Beautiful, modern rooftop space with all glass roll up doors that open to a rooftop terrace. Multiple fire pits and a lounge atmosphere. Unfortunately, a thunderstorm rolled in and the terrace had to be closed due to the rain and lightning. Such a bummer but the interior space of the restaurant/bar was very cozy and modern so we can't complain too much. Very attentive service and while we didn't come for dinner the food being serviced around us was well presented and looked fresh and delicious. Great craft cocktails and wine list. The even offer a 3 wine tasting in red or white for only $10. I think what was most amazing about this spot were the prices. Typically a spot like Skyline would have outrageous prices like LA, Miami or NY so I was pleasantly surprised at how "cheap" everything was for the quality & overall experience. A perfect spot for date night, girls night, anniversary, special occasions or just something with a hip & high end feel. If we're ever in town again we'll definitely come back. Oh I also encourage you to stay at the hotel, it was AMAZING!!!!! read more

We got the blue crab & corn fritters and they were delicious. We also ordered the wild mushroom pizza and it was cheesy to a fault - a little too soft, creamy - almost mushy/doughy. The major redeeming quality is the atmosphere. We sat on a couch outside and enjoyed the view. The wait staff was also very kind and fun. I would consider going back and trying a dish besides the pizza. read more

Skyline not only gives a great vibe with being able to see the skyline of downtown Lynchburg, but has the best crab cake bites I have ever tasted. The drinks and food did not disappoint neither, want to give a shout out to our waitress, Megan though. Great service! My steak was cooked wrong and she fixed it. read more

More than anything, I enjoyed the atmosphere of Skyline. When I dined, I sat on the patio, which has comfortable couches and a great view of the Lynchburg skyline. The food was decent, but it was a bit expensive for the type of food they serve (i.e. $16-$17 salads). While the food was good, I don't think it was worth the price. However, drinks were reasonable. In my hometown of Greenville, SC, I'd pay over $10 for a cocktail, and Skyline had many options for less than $10. So I suppose its a balance. Overall, nice environment and good food. Just a little pricey. read more

The scenery is great and the food is decent. The challenge is the restaurant doesn't know what It is and/or who they want to serve. It should a bar Thursday - Sunday and a restaurant the balance of the week. The element of waiting to be seated VS first come first serve on weekends and the almost busy body attitude of the staff makes the place awkward. There are honestly too many people working there. Other challenges are the hours of operation vary and the hotel staff frequently lock the doors and/or two people the restaurant is closed when it's in fact open. On two different occasions staff have told me conflicting closing times. I would strongly recommend a makeover and rebranding. read more

I am giving this 2 stars for the 2 things I liked atmosphere and location . But the food was horrible. We ordered the crispy Brussel sprouts that were an oily mess . Not crispy at all! I got a salad and added shrimp and the shrimp was undercooked and the tomatoes in the salad were not ripe . My husband veggies with his entree were also soggy. My husband and I make our rounds to the local restaurants. With great weather, we wanted to sit outside and enjoy a nice view with our meal. We decided to go to the Skyline. We had been there for appetizers, but never a meal. The view and the atmosphere is the best in Lynchburg. The waiter was personable and efficient. The spinach-artichoke appetizer was better than most we have had. My husband loved his chopped chicken salad. I ordered the Thai, shrimp salad. Unfortunately I was disappointed with my choice. It was bland, basically cabbage and shrimp and even with extra dressing added, it didn't help. The shrimp was okay, but not as good as I have had in comparable downtown restaurants. Looking back at the ingredients, I think they may have left off the papaya, peanuts and cilantro. Overall it was a good experience, I guess you can't always have it all. Next time I will try the chicken salad. I'm glad that Lynchburg is doing great things with our downtown space. read more

Oddly nice. Definitely wasn't expecting a hotel this nice in Lynchburg. I stayed in the two room suite that has 1 1/2 bathrooms. This location is very quaint and quiet but has so much character in the architecture. They did a great job remodeling where it has just enough of the old building to give the guest a great experience. I definitely recommend this hotel over any other hotel in the area. read more

Food was as expected. Steak was great, wine selection was a little thin for local wineries. Staff and service was great but I would say I was extremely disappointed that the actual rooftop restaurant was closed and the food was served in the ground floor reatruant. We chose skyline for the view and made reservations 2 weeks out to experience that. Didn't find out the rooftop experience with a view had been closed for 2 days till we showed up for our reservation. Since they had my contact info from the reservation I think they should have contacted me and let me know the experience wouldn't be as expected. Paid a premium price for an ambience that wasn't there. If the view was there would have been 5 stars. read more

They follow Covid guidelines, which is good. The drinks are good. The service is as expected. But other than that, it's not worth $30 a plate. I ordered the crab cakes, served luke warm, with flavorless french fries on the side. I don't usually complain about food, but if I'm paying over 20 bucks for an entree, I would hope there wouldn't be crab shells in my food. At least it's real crab, but the filler they used was mushy and didn't taste that great. My partner ordered a burger, which was cooked well, but overall not worth the money. read more

The food at the Skyline grill was ample and very good!! The ambiance left something to be desired, as the acoustics were not good! I have no idea if this is something that can be rectified....I really hope so, as the noise level in the space made it difficult to hear the person who was sitting NEXT to me!! The space looks great, and the outdoor area with the fire pits looks wonderful! Think we'll try outdoors next time, but it's VERY COLD today, so we might wait until spring to try it again!! read more

Here in Lynchburg for business and this place came highly recommended for a nice vibe and great food and drinks. What a letdown. The server was friendly but slow and inattentive. By the time I got my martini it was warm. Had the Skyline Wedge Salad and it was ok but nothing to write home about. My friend ordered the pork medallions and said they were tasty. I also ordered the Tuscan Shrimp flatbread. It came very late and was cold. The shrimp were very small and suspiciously similar to bait. The service was the biggest turnoff of all. First time in years my tip was under 15%. Would never go back there read more

The Skyline Restaurant was fabulous. Great atmosphere, wonderful food and beautiful views. Our server "M" was awesome and waited on us like a pro. Drinks were tasty and the beer was ice cold. Stayed in the Hotel that night which was also lovely. Went to breakfast the following morning and service and food were top notch all all over again. Highly recommend. This is my new favorite place in Lynchburg. One of the few places in town you'll want to actually spend time hanging out. Bartenders are fantastic with an excellent choice in house made cocktails. I highly, highly recommend the Old Timber cocktail. Every time I've been the food was excellent. The CHARCUTERIE & CHEESE seems to be the fan favorite. Atmosphere is definitely better in warmer months with the outside eating, but they have the fire pits going in the winter. It seems to be always crowded, so be prepared to wait. Beautiful venue with amazing views and good service. Amazing spot to have drinks and enjoy being outside. We ordered the chickpea fries for an app which had very little taste. Entrees were the wedge salad with shrimp and the pork belly wrapped cod. The salad was good, not fabulous, I expected a little more flavor from the smoked mozzarella and pickled celery. The pork belly wrapped cod was poor. The pork belly was not crispy and the cod was mushy instead of flaky. And most importantly, the bar was out of Stella. :) The manager was somewhat taken aback when given an honest answer to the question of how we enjoyed the food. After a "sorry you didn't enjoy your meal, we get rave reviews", he removed the app and cod entree from the bill. We honestly would love for this place to succeed and wanted to provide constructive feedback. The descriptions of the food sound so appetizing so I hope they can get the product to match! read more

Place is very unique. Why? Because it's one of the only places that you can eat on the rooftop of downtown Lynchburg. It's open all day so you can grab lunch breakfast or dinner. I've been twice already and both experiences were great. The menu is unique because they have pizzas and other specialty entrées like pork medallions. For breakfast I had the $16 special which included eggs hashbrowns toast and four pieces of bacon. read more
