Being from California, I am not accustomed to seeing such a great mass of land and understanding that it is managed and maintained by a few honest people. Though I cannot possibly fathom what drive and dedication it takes to care for the ranch and creek, I do however know, without a doubt, that when it comes to Yelp, five stars is an understatement.

We recently completed a tour with this group. We were are part of the saddle and paddle. Horseback…read moreriding in the morning with lunch in between and rafting 8 miles in the afternoon. Check in and directions were easy and every single person was delightful. Once we made our way up to the horseback riding ranch we were ready to ride. It was fun. However the guides for at the ranch were not very friendly. They did not really give great instructions prior to riding. There were several inexperienced riders who could have benefited from a few extra minutes of support and directions. Another negative was the group of riders was way too large. They should break up the large groups into smaller ones. Our group had over 30ppl. Got separated from my spouse during horse selection. It was chaos. They should consider breaking the groups up into experience and who cam together. Felt bad my spouse was chosen last and I had been on my horse for a good 10 minutes. Overall I would not suggest this portion of the tour unless they committed to making groups smaller and more interactive with guides. They didnt really talk to us or give and local facts or interesting things about the area. Disappointing. The older lady at the ranch also got sparky when I asked if I could take my water with me. Her response "why do you need water it's only a hour ride, jeez just grab a saddle bag I guess. Just rude. Then when getting off the horse she was smacking it in the face while I was still on it. Just not the greatest experience.

Hey hey hey, Boo Boo- this lake is better than the average lake!…read more Largest high elevation lake on the continent at 7,732 feet above sea level. This is such a picturesque lake. This mountain lake is something special though. In the wintertime, the top of the lake freezes over. Yellowstone gets some of the coldest temperatures in the continental United States. However, the lake never freezes over completely. Underwater geothermal fissures leak out volcanically heated water, which rises over the colder water, preventing water from freezing. There's several vantage points to check out the lake- depending on what you're looking to see. There's some geysers that offer great views over in the West Thumb Geyser area, right up next to the lake. There's the fishing bridge, with its big general store. That's a good place to do some fishing, obviously, but it also affords good chances to check out some bears here. The thing I don't understand is, with this huge awesome lake, why aren't there jet skis and pontoon and crazy amounts of motor boating going on out here? When I went, the lake was surprisingly quiet and placid. There were pelicans here when we went. Whoop. On the east side of the park, be sure to see the steep views for long distance views. Scenic!

On that day, a storm must've been moving in because the wind was gusting and there were actually waves on the lake! We got out a couple times and explored the beachfront. I found a couple of bird feathers, which was exciting for me, and generally just amazing given the gusts of wind - I was surprised that they didn't blow away. On our third day in the park as we came back through from the fishing bridge headed towards Old Faithful, we went by the lake again, and we were stunned at the complete difference in personality that we were witnessing. The lake was completely and totally calm, quiet, and gentle. We had to stop and explore again, and it was such a different experience from the day before. This lakefront is amazing and it's definitely a place to be explored in the park.

had the good fortune to take three trips thru psrks fly shop this summer…read more First trip in late June was timed for the salmonfly hatch and did not dissapoint, caught lots of nice fish in vatrious species, brown trout, rainbow trout, cutthroat trout and even a white fish, its still a fish and it takes a fly. The Guide, Rob, worked hard to put me on fish. Second trip also with Rob was a walk and wade trip into Yellowstone National Park. Caught lots of fish, all large cutthroat trout. Last trip was also a walk and wade in the Park with Ethan, The trip was in mid September and we faced very low water levels and had a hard time finding the fish, When we did find the fish we caught a number of very larg cutthroat trout in rapid succession until the last fish splashed its way accross the eddy we were fishing, spooking the rest of the fish down. on several cast we had multiple fish chashing the fly through the pool All of the staff were very enthusiastic, and very helpful with advice and are an excellent resource.

Booked an 8 day pack trip from Cody to Jackson July 30- Aug 6. Original route was modified so we…read morewould be leaving from Jackson and returning to Cody. Out party of three had no problem with the change. The guides were Royce (guide) Clayton (wrangler) and Kate (cook). I will say up front that they are the best. Very confident, knowledgeable and friendly. We had a medical issue come up with one of the other guest on day four that they handled expertly. This issue resulted in another change of route but again my party had no issues with the change.Kate needs special recognition as one fine trail cook. The meals she was able to prepare were excellent ranging from biscuits and gravy to eggs, bacon and potatoes for breakfast to the best steak I've had in my many visits to Cody to chili, spaghetti and pork loins for supper. She's the best. As for the actual ride itself, well all I can say is that I thought I'd be a lot more sore but in reality didn't feel bad once I was off the horse at the end of the day. Couple of notes, the altitude can play hell with your stamina if you're not acclimated, if you're shy about stripping down and bathing in a cold stream then bring lots of personal wipes. Make sure your sleeping bag is rated appropriately. I used a surplus Army two piece system that was perfect. Drink a lot of water throughout the day, don't wait til you're thirsty to hydrate. Trout fishing at the campsites was pretty good for those that fish. If you want a week long experience that will be the envy of your friends then you need to book this trip, remain flexible with any unforeseen changes and go enjoy the scenery.
