While we were there our guide showed up and introduced himself. He asked if we had any previous experience and talked about various locations, their conditions and where he thought we could go fish. Since our casting is far from professional and current conditions of the rivers were high and fast, we opted for a lake. We came with rods, waders, boots, snacks, but I left my reels in my truck at the store! Thank god , Brad (our guide had back ups! He got us all set up and we set out, talking about the conditions and what to expect. ( like rattlesnakes) what your step! It was a very educational experience, and we all caught some nice trout! If your in Cody and like to fly fish go see Brad, he'll make a better fly fisherman/woman.

They offer relaxing rides to enjoy the breathtaking scenery from meadows down to the rivers, or more advanced rides to hells canyon where you can experience rocky terrain and steep inclines. They pair you with your horse for the week so you can really establish a bond. The fly fishing is great! They offer lessons for first timers in their pond which does not require a license or you can head down to the boulder river and enjoy some of the best fishing in the area (license required). They offer other activities such as a Jeep ride, river floating, campfire dinners, and games (volleyball, horseshoes, and roping). There is a hot tub to soak your worries away in your spare time and lots of places to sit to take the beautiful views in. You will not go hungry during your stay here! The food is homemade, fresh and prepared for cowboys and cowgirls! Enjoy meals such as steaks, pastas, potatoes, brisket, full chicken, fresh veggies, seafood, salmon (fresh!), burgers prepared over a campfire, full breakfast spread of pancakes, eggs, bacon, homemade breads, muffin and more. We brought snacks with us that we purchased in big timber and did not touch them once so leave those in big timber and bring your appetite as they do not disappoint! The best part of our stay was the staff. This is a family run operation and it shows by the level of service they provide. I haven't ever experienced something quite like this before. The level of passion, care and concern they have for each one of us was so amazing. They just want each guest to have the best time and live their life to the fullest for the week they are at their property. There are no TVs, radios, cell phones so this is a time to truly disconnect. You can choose to get a phone card which will work in the main lodge for emergencies. The staff for the summer of 2019 hit it out of the park which is why all but two of the families were repeat guests who keep coming year after year. We can't wait to return to Hawley mountain and can't speak highly enough about this magical piece of the world.

As I did my first fly fishing trip ever with a guide from here I can say from experience that they know how to teach and aid anyone from their first cast onward as they are also able to help hone the skills of more seasoned veterans. Out party of three had no problem with the change. The guides were Royce (guide) Clayton (wrangler) and Kate (cook). I will say up front that they are the best. Very confident, knowledgeable and friendly. We had a medical issue come up with one of the other guest on day four that they handled expertly. This issue resulted in another change of route but again my party had no issues with the change.Kate needs special recognition as one fine trail cook. The meals she was able to prepare were excellent ranging from biscuits and gravy to eggs, bacon and potatoes for breakfast to the best steak I've had in my many visits to Cody to chili, spaghetti and pork loins for supper. She's the best. As for the actual ride itself, well all I can say is that I thought I'd be a lot more sore but in reality didn't feel bad once I was off the horse at the end of the day. Couple of notes, the altitude can play hell with your stamina if you're not acclimated, if you're shy about stripping down and bathing in a cold stream then bring lots of personal wipes. Make sure your sleeping bag is rated appropriately. I used a surplus Army two piece system that was perfect. Drink a lot of water throughout the day, don't wait til you're thirsty to hydrate. Trout fishing at the campsites was pretty good for those that fish. If you want a week long experience that will be the envy of your friends then you need to book this trip, remain flexible with any unforeseen changes and go enjoy the scenery.

I've popped in prior to some self-guided wade trips on the Gallatin and beyond and each time the've been super helpful and given me the flies I need to get the fish to eat.
