Great service from Pat the manager. Repaired my Audi steering problem for a very fair price. I would definitely recommend their service.

Good value. Same-day turn around on several items on the car. I will be using them again next time.

Joe gave me a straight forward evaluation of what my car needed and a fair price (a lot less than I expected).

Recently, the team at Truetech has done some work on my 2010 Ford Rscape and I couldn't be happier with the outcome that they've done. The work was completed in a timely fashion, the prices are reasonable for all things considered for the work that was completed. We will definitely be going back to Truetech for our Automotive needs. I normally go to other places when I don't have the tools, time, and or knowledge needed for some things. I will go over my first experience with this shop and why my wife and I go here when needed. I had an issue with an oil pressure sensor leak. I could see it, I know how much the part costs, and I know what needs to be done. However to actually access it would be a pain. I called them up and asked them how much it would cost to replace it. I believe I spoke to Steve and he mentioned generally about 200 or so. Now, that would be the case for many cars, but not this one. So I asked Steve if he could check book time. Book time is basically the amount of time, in a perfect scenario, it should take a mechanic to complete a task. They can then give you an estimate with respect to their labor rates. For example if hourly labor is 150 and book time for say changing a starter is 1h, they can say the labor cost will be $150. Steve looks at book time and is surprised because it's higher than normal about 2x more time and was wondering why. I mentioned, that to access it you have to essentially remove a few other components. He mentions, well, you can bring it in and we can take a look. I was hoping maybe they'd have easier ways of accessing it and mentioned I'm going to think on it a bit. I went under the car again and decided, "Nope. Too much work." I called back and setup an appointment. I drop off the car. I'm not happy with where the car manufacturers' engineers decided to shroud the oil pressure switch and essentially up the replacement cost but it is what it is. Anyway, I get a call back and the price I have to pay is essentially 1h and the part. I head on over and am very surprised. I forget the name of the mechanic (think it started with an M) but I asked them, "I'm surprised that you got it done so fast ... how?!" They mentioned they'd dealt with those cars before as they're common so they rigged up/made a special tool to reach in and do it. That was when I decided TrueTech is a stand up place. They could have charged book time and believe me you, I would've paid it. However they had a seasoned mechanic who knocked it out and passed those savings in their time, as savings in my pocket back to me. This isn't just a good honest mechanic being a good honest mechanic but also the higher ups, the managers and or owners. It seems that is their standard too as they've always been pretty booked which says they're more about doing good work in good time and if they make good headway, you may luck out. You may not, their call :-) but again, book time is perfect world setup, not rusted through, seized on, broken off ... stuff. It is still a good way to understand what you may be looking at aside from the actual part. Since then if and when needed, we go to TrueTech and we've always been happy. P.S. Once they have you in their system (i.e. e-mail / phone), their estimates app, progress, etc and everything is great. Especially if you have a smart phone. I saw where someone mentioned they had difficulty with getting a response and I haven't ran into that. If anyone does run into that, call them and just verify they have the right info.

One star because I don't think you can do no stars…read more Cons: misses delivery dates; shabby work, especially follow-up; Warranty work only no charge after extensive arguing; No promised call backs; obviously manufactured excuses for lack of progress; Bad or no paperwork system; Pros: Cheap Well, if you Wiki up the general category of "You get what you pay for", Universal Transmissions will be the first entry. I am a foolish idealist - always looking for that magical combination of great price and service - and sure enough I got burned again by these guys. The Skinny: Lincoln Mark VIII (nothing special: standard Ford Trans) rebuild. Trans and labor quoted $1500.00 - about $300.00 less than cheapest quote. I gave them the 3 days they wanted to do it. They took 6, and with each day, the (you all have heard it) new made-up excuse. So now I have to rent a car to get to work. (Also turns out their "discount" arrangement with Enterprise down the street doesn't even exist). When I pick up the car after work (they are closed with no late hours) the PRNDL indicator doesn't work anymore and there's an error to that effect on the computer. Also, they haven't re-connected the Air Suspension. There is no paperwork, just the MC Credit Card slip. The trans itself works but it has a severed downshift on braking. When I call they say I have to leave it for a day or so. Uh Huh...rent the car again. (F*CK That!) so I just let it ride. I decide to clear the messages on the dash at start-up rather than deal with these guys non-existent sense of urgency and sparkling excuses. Fast forward to Fall (8 months): I have to get Illinois emissions test - and can't get new plates until I pass. It fails on a transmission code (P0708). Now, I have to go back to these guys, and impress to them that this is (and was) a warranty issue. I hoped it would not be a battle - no such luck. First off, before seeing anything, the guy hints I'll be paying for it. Then after I launch volley one - "bring it in, we'll see". I coordinate with him and schedule it so he can do it in a day. I deliver the car the night before as a courtesy with a note explaining everything. When I call at 2:00, he says he never got the keys, just the note. I asked if he read it, sure he did. Just missed the part that said THE CAR IS OPEN AND THE KEY IS IN THE ASHTRAY. So...we play phone tag (he's out on a test drive again and again) for the next few hours, with promises to get to it...to call me back, etc. But for SURE a callback before they quit. Can you guess? I call THEM at 7:00PM. They're gone for the day. The next day I call early and we go at it. He is angling to charge me for a neutral safety switch. I fire my last volley into the phone - (my wife laughingly later quoted it nearly word for word hearing it from the upstairs back bedroom) - and he finally relents. And this is only a $45.00 part - I can you imagine a real $1200.00 trans warranty claim? End of story: I got my car and plates. I'm also getting my sanity back, day by day. My doctor says it'll be completely ok in a few more days. But I know he's lying - he's a real cheap doctor.
