Walked in today to finally check a box on my life list. The staff were welcoming and friendly. I had no idea what to expect with no prior experience but it was obvious there was decades of experience in every corner of this facility. My instructor Raul and videographer Efra were exceptional and flawless in their handling of my rookie jump. I should have done this sooner but always found an excuse to put it off. The most life-affirming experience in the world. Don't get locked into the vision of "jumping from a perfectly good airplane". The experience at Skydive Spaceland is so much more. It begins with the staff, who suddenly feel so much more familiar the moment you exit your vehicle. They're so warm, so gracious, and so friendly that it seems you've known them forever. They exchange stories, insights, and tips. They are incredibly personable, and at the same time highly-professional. After a short training stint you're outfitted with a jump suit, goggles and a harness. I was concerned about comfort, but the harness was not uncomfortable in the least. In fact, because my instructor/jump partner Hank made key adjustments to the side straps I was actually able to glide down through this life-altering, perception-challenging flight feeling as though I was seated, just taking in the stunning views. Hanks ability to navigate with true precision, pointing out things along the descent was spectacular. He was the consummate pro, yet I felt like we were experiencing this together for the first time. I am confident that each and every jump is a life-changing experience. Coming down we dropped precisely into a target circle about 10 feet in diameter... outstanding precision, and a pillow-soft landing. I should note that exiting the plane initially was surreal, and we went instantly from the noisy hum of the turboprop engines, to a type of silence I didn't know existed. In a few seconds I regained the horizon, my perception, and my sense of total wonder. Skydive Spaceland in Rosharon, Texas is the place to go. Everyone I met today was great, and felt familiar and reassuring. I want to give credit to my son-in-law Jordan Dockery for making a stellar first jump, and extend my thanks (and admiration) to Hank Prewitt, Ralph "Clyde" Hill (my jump buddy), as well as the incredible Rick Poplinger for making all of this possible. Jumping from a perfectly good airplane is not insane, and not scary. It's spectacular, life-affirming, and confidence building. Once you've done it, and having had the encouragement & support from Skydive Spaceland you understand that in this life all things are possible. I can think of nothing in this world that imparts such instantaneous joy, and shows you that you are indeed occupying your proper place in the universe. For Father's Day, my dad requested to go sky diving, so my sisters and I made it happen. The process was smooth and time efficient. Although the process may vary considering other factors, our experience was in and out. Everything about this experience was top-notch! I went on my first tandem jump with Hank (instructor) and Greg (videographer). All of the expectations/process were laid out clearly in the beginning and everyone at the facility made me feel so relaxed and welcome and safe! Most importantly, I had fun!! After watching probably 20+ other tandem jumpers land, I didn't feel any nerves other than the ones you always feel when doing something new. The video package is a MUST! Hank was incredible! After years of watching videos online of people skydiving I finally decided to knock it off my bucket list and am glad i came here! I called a couple times and every time the people at the front desk had the best energy. The place was super cool when I walked in and everyone was really friendly and welcoming. I talked to two female licensed skydivers there (Celenia and Safa) who encouraged me to get my license to skydive on my own like them. Their absolute bad bch energy about skydiving peaked my interest and I'm glad to have found them if it wasn't for them i wouldn't have considered the possibility! I did my tandem with Chris Brewer! I was really nervous but he managed to calmed me down. He gave me thorough explanations which eased my nerves and had a great attitude, making the entire adventure enjoyable with his jokes and positive energy. He shared his skydiving journey story with me! I am glad to have been in the hands of someone with so many years of experience! I told Chris I was interested in getting my license so he explained how to pull the parachute myself and taught me about canopy control in the air. Our landing was absolutely flawless. We floated and landed on our feet! To be honest i never even thought about the landing part at all and was pleasantly surprised it was that easy. If I could give more than 5 stars I would! The entire experience from start to finish was amazing. The check in process was smooth and so was all of the instructional portion. I dove with Scott and Greg was my camera guy. From the moment I met Scott, he made me feel excited and like I had known him forever. He made sure to talk me through everything he was doing while getting me suited up and answered all of the questions I had. On the plane ride up, he helped me remain calm and again talked me through the entire process. We had great small talk which helped keep my mind at ease. Throughout the jump I felt safe and secure. Scott and Greg both made the jump super fun for me. Greg was an awesome camera man and got amazing shots and created a quality video. You leave with all of your photos and video after only a little waiting. If this is your first time, pay the extra for the photos/video - they are well with every penny!! This has been always on my bucket list and honestly it haven't crossed my mind until recently when I was looking to do something I've never done. I am so happy I found this place and it's less than an hour from houston so why not!! Did you guys know people from all over the world come here to skydive? Parking was fairly easy although I am not sure how busy it gets on the weekend. I booked for friday 2pm and I really enjoyed my experience because not only it wasn't packed, I was able to dive with the team of professionals there :p I checked in at the office registration. The customer service Tanya provided was exceptional. She really made me feel welcome and was friendly and professional at the same time. So as my videographer Greg and instructor Fernando. Greg is talented I mean high quality videos & photos while skydiving? that's a whole another level! Speaking of, you should totally get the photo/video package because it's SO WORTH it! Fernando was funny and the best instructor haha! And every staffs I met were cheerful :) I was honestly more excited than nervous, and it was like riding a rollercoaster, but in the sky! Before flying, you will watch a video which will explain all the things you need to know. It was informative so you should pay attention to it :) Overall, I think everyone should give it a try, and it's not as scary as you think, just go for it! Jumping out of a plane at 14,000 feet (with a very capable professional strapped to my back), falling for about a minute at about 120 MPH, opening a chute at about 6,000 feet, and floating down for several minutes, getting incredible views of downtown Houston and Galveston Island/the Gulf, maneuvering the chute in circles and dives, and then a soft easy landing (where again, the pro does all the work). What an experience I'll remember the rest of my life! I can't recommend this place highly enough. The pros there are fun, really know what they are doing, and make you feel so safe. Dakota was my instructor and he was fabulous. The facility is top-notch. I'm ready to go again! If you are thinking of doing it, do it! read more

All I can say is wow. Amazing first experience. I chose to book with Spaceland because of a recommendation from my mom and aunt, who have both jumped here in the past. Booking was easy and self explanatory. I booked online the day before my scheduled jump. I showed up the day of the jump and there was not many people there, which was great because I hate crowded places or being rushed along. I checked in and filled out what seemed like a mountain of paperwork. I then was taken into a room to watch a video. After I was suited up and interviewed on camera as part of my photo/video package. Shortly after, I was informed it was time to board the plane. You are packed in like sardines since the plane is small, but it didn't bother me much since everyone had face coverings. The initial first few seconds of the jump was frightening but after it was truly relaxing and peaceful looking at the horizon and scenery. Both the instructor and photographer were fun and friendly. The staff in general were all pleasant. I will definitely be back to jump again and I highly recommend to others. read more
